Looks great!  What are your impressions of the bike so far?

I'm really impressed with it, the finish is absolutely amazing, the internal routing works brilliantly with a full outer down the downtube then out under the BB, and cable stops for the inner to run through the chainstay out to the rear mech. The BB92 BB pressed in with ease using my headset press, the whole frame is just really well made, and I imagine they must paint them after because the finish is flawless.

Did you hit your weight goal as per the title of this thread?

However I did weigh it twice after, and it came out at 8.4 and then 8.7 so I'm not sure 1) how accurate the scales are 2) how much it actually weighs! It should be around 8.4, and that seems like a fair average.

That thing looks mean as hell!

Agree with the 32t front by the way, I only have a standard 11-36 10sp on the back but have never been undergeared, I am tempted to go to a 30 front to give me a bit more use of the cassette but since XX1 rings are $£$£ I'm kinda reluctant to until I find something I have trouble with!

I've also tried to have stickers made (skateboard) from a design that friend made in photoshop and you're right about it being difficult to get them exactly like you want them.

Yeah.. I'm thinking I may have to pony up some $$$ for a real designer if I want a proper decal for my chiner  ???

I just happen to have a degree in Graphic Design  ;)

Always tyre pressure, 18psi front, 21psi back, come rain or shine that's my go to pressure.

Apart from that it's the standard. Kit up, bottle filled, phone and keys in my jersey pouch, headphones in and music on, hit the go on the Garmin and smash the trails.

Unfortunately I woke to a messages saying there was customs fees to be paid, noooooo!

However it's only £58.32, so I'm going to dash home after work, grab the note they dropped through the door, head back up to the depot and get it, then build it, then shred it tomorrow!

Pictures to come in abouuuuut four-ish hours all being well.

I was under the impression those white plastic "liners" were only meant to be used as guides, IE you run your cable all the way through them, then you pull the white plastic "liner" out, and your cable is in the right place.

In terms of the brake one, if your hose won't fit into the "liner" then you'll have to devise a way to connect your brake hose to something else to pull it through the frame. A good idea would be to run a regular brake/gear cable inner through the plastic liner until it comes out the other end, then you can put a few wraps of insulation or duct tape around the last few inches of old brake cable/new brake hose, pull it all the way back through the frame, and it should all work out nicely.

No of course I haven't been checking the tracking data every day without fail for the last 5 days, what're you talking about  :-[

My bike cost me about £1850 ($3150). I've swapped some parts out (got rid of the dropper, added carbon bars) so it's probably only about $3000 now. I'm sure you'd have no trouble beating that though!

Once my frame and wheels were handed over to customs at Parcelforce Coventry it took a day for wheels and two days for the frame to be delivered IIRC. !

 :D :D :D :D :D

As soon as it arrives it'll be being built up. I have no plans this weekend so if it arrives by Saturday I'll get it done then, if not then early next week I'll be posting photos!

Since the parts are all coming off an existing bike it's just a case of bolting everything on, took me half an hour to strip the old bike, will probably take around the same amount of time to build this one, although the internal routing is going to be "fun", and I'll have to chop the steerer on the forks, again (scary).

UPDATE:

They never sent me a shipping notification (annoying) but I just emailed and it turns out it was sent on Saturday 12th, despite them saying they're only open Monday - Friday (progress!)

It's now Thursday 17th and my frame is in the country, and with Customs.

If I could afford them I'd definitely have a set of the Lauf forks posted in this thread, http://www.laufforks.com/TheLaufTrailRacer.aspx

Well I'm glad to hear I'm not alone in the XC thing. I get far too scared when the trails get steep and techy, which is why the "Enduro" scene which is growing like crazy over here in the UK is so unappealing to me, I like having two wheels on the ground thanks (although the odd little 1ft drop or bunny hop isn't too bad), and prefer it when the trail goes up rather than down!

After The Ride / What kind of riding do you do?
« on: July 14, 2014, 03:29:44 AM »
So while we all ride the same bikes, I was wondering what kind of riding people are into?

For me I'm a roadie first and mtb'er second, so I really enjoy what can only be described as "pure XC", fast singletrack, nice climbs, not too techy or scary, just fun general mountain biking, I've never really got to terms with berms and so it's the technical stuff like that where I let myself down.

I'm also into racing mtb's, did a 12 hour 4 man team race about 6 weeks ago where we came 6th out of 49 teams, and did a 24 hour 10 man team race a few weeks ago where we came 22nd out of 25, although I did have completely different team mates and attitudes towards the events. I've been looking around for more races in my area because I find them so much fun, although I do find whenever I go to a race I end up wanting a new bike, last year it was a 29er, this year a new frame, so who knows what I'll end up with next time!
