Component Deals & Selection / Re: Best AliExpress head & tail lights?
« on: October 02, 2023, 11:52:13 AM »
Are you happy with the battery life? Rear light is the one thing I hated charging and would often let run out of battery without noticing

Similarly, are there aliexpress lights that can connect to head units to control them or to see battery life?

Does anyone have the magene geoid TL400B rear light, TL300 or a Towild TL02 rear light?

If you like the mount, measure the diameter of the circle where the screws are in the adapter. Between 19 and 22mm in general.

And you can then order a replacement one like these:
https://a.aliexpress.com/_EzwprMP

Or you can cut a little square of tape.
Stick it to the center of the adapter.
If still moving another one, etc...

I've tried the garmin "cleat" from my old broken mount and it still has a lot of play. The problem is probably the bracket itself but the design is honestly terrible on its own, even if it worked. At this point I have no interest in a third replacement, I just want a refund. I've messaged them this morning saying I'm getting impatient and that I would like them to refund me if they can't find a solution soon

Doesn't Sensah use Sram spacing?
Sensah used the SRAM 11s spacing afaik, but sram has a new spacing for 12s I'm pretty sure

Bit of a legal question, bit of a moral question.
Bought a GPS mount on august 22, received early september. Tons of play, not secure at all, might damage a GPS if used. Contacted support, sent a vid and they agreed it wasn't normal and sent a new one. Received 17th, has the exact same issue. Neither of us think I installed it wrong, my GPS is an official garmin device that is compatible (and it mounts fine with no play on my old mount that snapped at the hinge). Support has been just telling me to wait it out but I'm getting impatient and don't know how many more "please friend wait for engineer response" I can take, it's been a month and I don't think they can solve my issue. I've never had to ask for a refund but to be honest I have absolutely no faith in their product at this point. Is it morally acceptable for me to ask for a full refund yet? Will I have to send them back or only destroy with video proof? It's not a big monetary loss but I want to move on now.
Thank you

I suppose that RD should work well with Sram's 12 speed 11-44 cassette?

Probably not "well" as even the new HG apex cassette has the SRAM spacing. It's a hard YMMV but you can expect tweaking

Toe overlap would be a concern, but the front center is 5mm longer than my CFR-1056. The rear center is 20mm longer, and the wheelbase is 25mm longer. With fatter tires the difference should be negated. On my 1056 I can make contact with my front wheel on very slow, very tight turns...and there's likely to be a few more of those on gravel.

Your build looks good. I'm sorry you're unhappy.

For reference, I have 170mm cranks, size 44EU shoes with cleats as far forward as possible (which I don't even like), 46mm WAM tires on 700c rimes, size 54 frame. I had a road bike with some toe overlap before and it rarely bothered me, but on a gravel bike, even on my short time on it toe overlap is a big deal, sharp slow speed corners happen all the time. I can't even get out of my driveway on the bike, I have to carry it and place the bike on the street  :(

Another small regret I have with the frame is going overboard with painting. I asked for two chameleons fading. Realistically, you never notice it on the bike. You really have to walk around and play with angles to even notice it. I should have kept it simple with just a glossy color or two and spend the money elsewhere. But if you want some "elaborate" paint job, I'm happy to report their painters are skilled and the paint is well done. Just my taste to blame
Only very frustrating issue I had with building it was the front derailleur requiring the sticky plate on the frame, which is a pain to set up and could have easily been fixed if they had made a better FD mount.

My ultimate advice for anyone considering a 696 - have a serious look at the 707. I wrongly assumed the 707 would be racier and less comfortable than the 696 because it has internal cable routing

Can't go wrong with carbonda, but if I had to buy again I would 100% get a 707 instead. With simpler custom paint

I've got one. Ordered in december. First self build and first gravel bike for me
The contact, painting, shipping and frame quality overall was good and I would trust carbonda again. I just got a little confused with the triple port piece because I ran full housing

Here is my full build specs, 2250€ in gravel setup with a powermeter and without accessories. 8.4kg without accessories iirc (weight might be a little off because I didn't weigh grease, sealant, chain was weighed uncut, forgot to weigh tires so used the advertised)

I'm gonna be honest: Despite it being 95% finished for months, I don't ride it. I've taken it on a couple short test rides and I find the geometry very awkward. The stack is extremely low and I have more spacers than on my road bike and still don't have as much stack and the frame has a HORRIBLE toe overlap issue. No other words, it's atrocious. Don't understand how I had not seen anyone complain before I bought mine
I would go with carbonda again, but certainly not for a 696.

159
Whom should I contact in Carbonda about purchasing the frame? Is it info@carbonda.com, or is it better to contact someone in particular?
In my experience a year and a half ago, better to contact someone in particular.
Contacting "info" I never got a response. I then emailed adam@carbonda and got a response.

You can also deal with "wing" but i don't know the exact email

Link takes me to "Manufacturer Direct Store". I've tried all the categories. This is what I see at home page or "all products." Possibly geo locked?
I just clicked "Products" and then "view all products". About 80% of the items on the first page are cycling related
Also, clicking my own link switched my aliexpress to hebrew... That's a new one

Just on the first page, I see TPU tubes, 2 HR monitors, bottle cages, KMC chains, 2 GPS, a bleed kit, bibs, lamps, a torque wrench, saddles, pedals, a seatpost

Do you not have the same products as me?

This seller has a lot of cycling items for much cheaper than the official stores. I already bought a darevie jersey there for $15 ($23 on official darevie store) and was very happy with it, no catch as far as I could tell
They have things like TPU tubes, Ipro rotors, TOWILD lamps, etc. Also darevie bibs for $16 (official store 32ish?) but the pictures show a grey bib instead of purple. Not sure if they are old collections or something

After The Ride / Re: Chinese smart watch
« on: September 26, 2023, 11:00:08 AM »
Specifically a sports watch or a "lifestyle" watch? I've had a garmin fenix 6 pro and currently have a forerunner 55 and i'm not happy about the downgrade. The best chinese sport watches seem to be amazfit (Trex, cheetah, GTR) but they don't sell on ali

164
Anyone tried a chinese home trainer? Such as a magene T100? 250usd for a direct drive seems pretty good. Don't care if the powermeter is crap as I have one on the bike

PSA: Not chinese but the decathlon RC500 is often on sale at 30€ in europe and has excellent reviews. Not sure why there would be a need to gamble on ali
