Yeah the ICAN set up is the exact same as the official ACR system. A video speaks a thousand words: the headset starts around 4mins in. There is a store on AliExpress called "rolling stone" selling the exact same handlebar for around £200.

I have commented on this before. The quality of the finishing on the A9 is very high. For example Iv seen loads of issues with the finishing on TanTan frames. I have experienced none of this on my A9 frames. The extra money also goes to a much nicer handlebar if you opt for the same one on my bike (same as a ACR vision metron) which alone is worth the price difference)

I can't speak for velobuild but I have built multiple A9s and they have all been rock solid. Had a friend of mine test ride my A9 yesterday, he usually rides a madone and he said he would take the A9 over a madone for crit racing any day. Although the madone is known to be a bit of a "boat". He did say the A9 felt "stiffer and harsher" than the madone but the madone has ISO speed for comfort.

It's pretty hard not to find them. They are the biggest wheel.seller on AliExpress. Just type in "carbon wheelset" and sort by the number of orders and they will show up.

Component Deals & Selection / Re: Bb386 cranksets

I had issues with that bb and "shimano" compatible cranksets. The thickness of the flanges that allow it to be tool tightened are too wide, about twice the thickness of pf versions. The result is that the crank spindle isn't long enough to allow you to engage enough of the thread for the loads that get transferred through it.  Replaced mine with a dub pf bb and crankset and everything fit prefectly.

Also had this issue. Couldn't get the little safety clip on the non drive side to slot in. It's only about 1mm off. Ran the crank anyway and having no issues so far  :o

It's hard to know what or who to believe. If I recall correctly discs might be more aero when the wind is completely straight on. When you actually take into account different yaw angles rim brakes are more aero. Hambini did a test and found his old look rim brake bike more aero than bikes like the Systemsix at high speeds (not sure if I trust these results either). The rim brake versions of bikes are usually about 500g lighter overall aswell which is a nice bonus. As for the pain of full integration I just love working on my bikes and I don't care how much a headache it is. I might start looking for a second hand madone frame.

None of these frames have an integrated front brake.

I love my disc brake bike for every day riding but I am thinking of building up a 1x aero rocketship for crit racing on flat courses. I want to keep the sleek integration (no cables) of the disc bike with the aero and weight benefits of rim brakes. Some name brand models that fit this description are the Venge vias and rim brake Madone. Is anyone aware of any Chinese manufacturers that produce such a frame?

I have bought 7 A9 frames from ICAN and I just keep going back for the level of finishing. Cable exit and entrance points are always clean and easy to route, no BB issues (so far), thru axles always aligned, etc. They do a quality check at the factory on each frame that lasts a few mins but it can save you months of annoying returns time if it wasn't done. I see lots of minor QC issues with tantan/seraph that I have never seen on one of my A9s but I am a small sample size. Tantan sell more frames than any other manufacturer so it is more likely for them to have more problems, it's a numbers game.

There is a chance that a $300 frame could be as good maybe even better than a $3000 frame but it is a really big gamble. With more expensive frames you don't just pay for the frame you pay for frame + quality control + warranty + plus communication etc. You are buying a service and a bike. Some more expensive frames offer better quality carbon which can make frames lighter. I thought this was the case with workswell until someone compared the weights of the exact same mould from velobuild and the weights were exact the same even though workswell charge $300 more. I think the sweet spot is around the $600-800 mark. Good quality with good communication warranty and returns if something goes wrong. Shit happens and carbon breaks even on the most expensive bikes, you just don't want to be left up shit creak without a paddle if it does.

That is a Cannondale Systemsix. It weighs 8.1kg without bottles (non hi-mod frame and 80mm wheels adds some weight). My bike is 7.85kg without bottles

Looks fantastic. Post some pictures of the build when you can.

Very interesting but still not much into on the crank. Any idea on the weight of that set up on Shimano chainrings? Looks beautiful.

Can any one explain me why an Ican aero A9 frame is a beter quality than For instance  https://www.championcyclingsell.com/2020-style-carbon-sl7-tarmac-s-work-road-bike-carbon-frame-supper-light-weight-sl7-cycling-bike-frameset-made-in-china-p2972875.html

The issue with counterfeit is trust. Can you find reviews of this company? Are they reliable? What problems have people had with their frames? If something goes wrong will they make it right? Can they just steal your money and vanish?

With the well known factories you have some sort of safety because they have a reputation to uphold. ICAN have been around for something like 12 years. They aren't going to run off with your $700 into the sunset. If something goes wrong they reply and try to fix it. They do not want their reputation going down the drain. Take AliExpress for example. The accounts selling counterfeit frames are here today gone tomorrow. You could get a fantastic frame with these people but the gamble is too much for me. I'd rather have the peace of mind, warranty and reliability of a well known factory.
