Cyclocross Frames, Wheels & Components / Re: Ornan Bike gravel frame build

It looks great!

How was it getting in touch with that company and working on the frame.

I'm thinking of ordering a road frame from this company, but there's not much information about them in the road  gallery, so I'll ask you.

Have you had any seriously bad experiences with that frame so far until now, or a lot of assembly errors?

Hello!

No issues with the frame at all, I'm quite happy with it! I would buy from them without hesitation if they have a model that you like. Which road frame are you looking at?
I find errors in assembly are not usually a fault of the frame ;D The build process was as easy as any other frame I've built up, nothing to note and no manufacturing defects. All surfaces were faced also.

These are hookless, I bought them and was fooled by the misleading description also. So far so good on American classic Uddens. Great wheelset though, rode BWR with them without issues.

ah, thanks for the confirmation. Time to fight the Ryet store for a cancellation before they ship  :) No hookless for me.

I was tempted but not willing to go hookless.
They're not hookless. You just got me doubting myself and scrolling through the listing to 10 minutes making sure I didn't miss something  ;D

Vendor Discussion & Reviews / Re: Thoughts on Panda Podium?

Now, I'm not saying it couldn't turn into something really good, but, as of now, it's mostly the same stuff for slightly more money (or significantly more depending on the import-duties thing) because trust me bro.
This right here is so important. They sell more or less what I already buy from AliExpress with a small premium added on top.
I'll admit, they sell some really cool, head turning, high end stuff like the Cybrei cranks, Sixwheel cassette, fancy wheelsets, etc. But at those prices I'd rather buy the Western equivalents or custom wheels from Farsports, LB, etc.

Well it would seem to me if you switch to through axel/ carbon wheels/ new groupset and brakes...... Why not go get a carbon frame and build that up?
Sometimes you don't want carbon.  :) Also, I bought it as a frame set back when they still sold loose frames for really cheap.

My gravel bike has been begging for some new wheels  :'(
I snagged these Ryet gravel wheels for around $385 US after coupon stacking: https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256805170124710.html
I was leaning toward Elite Wheels ENT/SLT/SLR but ultimately decided for Ryet as I prefer the wider internal rim width and lack of logos.

Anyone have experience with these?

As long as we're plugging frames that we like, here's what I ride and can recommend: https://www.ornanbike.com/r908-d-gravel_c62
Here's what I also considered and tbh I still kinda want one, just not crazy about the internal routing on gravel: https://www.yishunbike.com/product/g085-dadventure-gravel/

A value option that's ready to go: https://www.poseidonbike.com/products/dropbar-x?variant=43191079633124
I'm not crazy about the quick release situation on the Poseidon, but having owned two of them they just work. Very solid bikes. I converted one of them to thru axle with carbon wheels and full hydraulic 2x groupset and it was pretty awesome.
I'd recommend looking for a used one, they come up all the time for much cheaper.

Make sure that size L isn't too big for you - I'm 178cm tall and I'd choose between size S and M depending on how aggressive the fit is. Overall, I believe it is the same mold as Rinasomething that some people have reviewed on YouTube, including Patrick Lino (just keep in mind same mold does not equal same quality)

I'm going to go out on a limb and say the Airwolf and Rinasclta frames are totally coming off the same line. They carry all the same models, even track and rim brake frames. Some of the website photos are shared. I see no reason to pay Rinasclta any extra money.

Not to mention all the AliEx bike YTers looking for ideas on their next videos?  ;D

;D Funny how the Youtube videos tend to trail just a bit behind the conversations on here.

Anyone tried already Firespider ?
https://firespider.aliexpress.com/store/1100268111

It is the high-end brand of Toseek, that makes bars, stems,...

I have the FS160 but have yet to try it. Bought it for an upcoming build and I'm currently repainting the bars gloss black. Feels very good in the hand, though.
I also have "The One Pro" handlebar on my VB177, which appears to be the same as Fire Spider's RTB07. This bar is excellent and without having ridden it, the FS160 appears to be just as high quality.

Naw all my frames are black. I ride in the LA area. You'll most likely see me at Griffith Park or cruising the LA River trail when doing road.

ah yeah I'm in Southern California but the opposite end of the LA area. Never ridden the LA River but occasionally ride San Gabriel.

Sure it wasn't me? Lol

White frame with black fork?

Just saw my first open mold out in the wild today here in Southern California :P
I was driving to pick up a pizza and saw a guy on what looked like an SL7 inspired frame. VB 168, TFSA or something like that, definitely an open mold.

$6 Harbor Freight mini hacksaw is my main tool for this purpose. A hose clamp or piece of tape for a guide. I even used a pipe cutter once and it actually worked pretty alright, kinda slow if anything.

I have a Winspace SLC 2.0 fork up for sale! It's hardly been ridden, The steerer tube is cut very short, too short for my liking so I had to purchase a new one. This is perfect for owners of the Speeder SC-R48 looking for fully internal routing. ;) Tbh this would work with lots of road bikes with standard tapered headtubes.

This came on a size 490 frame that I purchased from a Weight Weenies forum member, has room for a 5mm spacer under the stem, nearly slammed.
Length of the steerer is approximately 181-182mm measured from base of the crown. Fork weight is 332 grams.
The proprietary headset parts ( D-shaped compression plug, top cap, and the blacks steerer wedge) are included! Does not come with thru axle.

$145 with free shipping in the US. SOLD
