about the coins, 00Garza is right on his take.. coins are automatically applied, but usually it's 1, 2, or max 5% of discount.. so you can have thousands of dollars in coins but can only use it on the allowed discount for each particullar product

if you go to the coin tab, there are special discounts where sometimes it's like 30% of the price that you can pay in coins, but it's not that awesome either because many times the original price is a bit higher than what you can get on 'normal' products, and then this 'super coin discount' ends up a similar price you'd get on another seller
but it's always worth taking a look, because same as the 'Super Deals' page, good products are added in limited amounts, if you're lucky to see something you want and it's a fair price, jump on it right away

Pretty sure the coins are automatically deducted according to what percentage seller allows. The "coin" tab has sellers that have larger coin discounts.

I have a YKYW bib with one of the 'endurance' pad variations, it's a softer pad it seems...
I don't have any reference, here in Brazil EI pads are hard to come about, and really expensive, so my reference are only other brands.
But this endurance pad is really good, I've got it for nearly 2yrs and it's still (almost) as good as new, it's comfortable and I can ride 4h+ on it without issues, it didn't loose too much density over the years, and I must've used it at least like 70 times
so even if it's fake, it's still very good and worth the price... but then again, this is comparing with other chinese pads, and local brazilian pads

That said, the Paris HP is older entry level pad. There are much better Elastic Interface pads available, but much more expensive. Think of the Paris HP as the Tiagra of Elastic Interface range. So Chinese brands like YKYWbike, Cheji and Rion are using a cheaper name pad to sell the products as premium.

Road Bike Frames, Wheels & Components / Re: Elves Falath EVO 2023

However, in real world practicality it does not seem like YouTubers are actually using their Falath EVO as their primary bikes. Just like LTWO ERX: Sounds great on paper and for views, but not as a permanent solution yet.
to me, this is key. If you have a spare bike, or multiple, I believe the approach to issues is totally different than only having 1 bike, which needs to be trustworthy, and that you wouldn't want to deal with issues and mechanicals on a regular basis...
that something that really draws me to someone like TraceVelo... who, although he has multiple bikes, he's always really transparent about the issues (like ERX for example which he's been a critic since the 1st video, albeit optimistic), also about having received or bought (anonymously), and he rides a lot all of his bikes

Speaking of Winspace, it's interesting how 4 years later we have still yet to see a true one to one competitor to the T1500/Hyper Wheels in terms of branding, innovation, performance, and reach to the Western world. We've seen some wheel brands gain success by basically using Winspace's marketing approach, but not to the same level of success. Ironically, Winspace's success is also the reason they have been on the decline.
I think it was a combination that'll be hard to see again... the marketing approach (which was Joe/ChinaCycling's doing, I believe) with youtubers, pushing products but also not trying to flee or hide the issues and critics, and for sure the way they arrived at western markets, offering easier ways to get the wheels, good communication, a good price (for the offering)
now although there are other brands using similar techniques, there are also lots of options out there, while Winspace was more by themselves...

I'm an outsider on this so I can be saying shit, but it's what it seems from my pov

Total cost was $118 USD after discounts. The store is also advertising a free winter cap and winter gloves for >$100 spend, so with some luck I'll end up with those too.
don't let just luck work... send a message to the store, asking about the gifts and if there's anything else they can add, like a sock or something
I've already got socks, laundry bags, and other small gifts in much cheaper orders, just by asking

I've been using chains from Aliexpress for >3yrs now, my take is that you need to be more aware of the store, if it seems legit, than of the reviews (because more often then not it's just a '1st impression', not a proper review)
gone by 4 KMC x10 chains and all seemed legit, lasted around 8kkm so good enough considering all were bought on sale
I'm on my first YBN set and I'm liking it, apart from one time that a link disengaged and I had to fix it on the road, nothing to complain.
I've seen YBN on 'Choice' items, so I think it's worth taking a look, considering the low price it should be enough to try it at least.

for the 11.11 sale in general, prices didn't drop much but that's usual for AliEx for at least 2yrs. But for Brazil at least the coupons this time are very good, and plus the progressive discount, it's the best sale in a long time!
I've got this 3D saddle from Ryet to try out (have the Aircode one and love it) and also these VXW gloves to replace my YKYW ones.. also some Hualong bottle cages and other small stuff for my mtb. I'm trying to keep it cheap this time, not much money extra right now lol

« on: November 10, 2023, 05:35:52 AM »
I have the P325cs from Magene, got it in the crowdfunding, it's been 3yrs and working really well, although it's the 1st PM and I don't have much to compare to, the readings are aligned with my smart trainer so it's a good sign. Only thing that could be better is the battery, but it lasts about 60hrs of usage so it's still pretty good, and easy to charge, so not so bad.

I think the best opportunities are either those P505 or the Sigeyi, which are pretty well established
keep a lookout tomorrow with the start of 11.11 because the price might drop and it adds up with coupons. If you look now the product pages show the current price and what'll be tomorrow in sale

Yeah, the jerseys are really nice... If they would just stop being so stubborn and lose the stupid text on the sleeves they would sell a lot more... It just screams "Cheap Chinese jersey!!"
yeah, they just released some other models - jersey and bibs - with strange nonsense texts - and it just doesn't make sense, people end up buying because it's still a great quality for the price, but for sure would sell more if they went with 'cleaner' layouts (like Spexcel does, or YKYW too)

my impression is that although these brands sell well on Aliexpress, their real focus is the local market where's the real volume, so they don't pay attention (or don't really care) if the layouts do not appeal to the Western world
and because of the way that Chinese language is structured, these texts make sense to them, it's usually a literal translation of some slogan that works in Chinese

I'm in need of new bottle cages so this interests me much...
do these carbon ones, recommended above, scratch the bottles? My only experience with carbon cages was one of those Bontrager XXX knock-offs, and while it held the bottle well it just left it all scratched, maybe because it was too tight, but I also believe it was a case of rough edges on the carbon.
I moved to Elite Cannibal bottle cages, the nylon one which is already pretty good at <30g each, but the price on these ones right now is just insane, at least here in Brazil.

Another one I was interested is this Xoss N2 one in nylon, seems pretty good price/weight relation

People last year were often underwhelmed with the 11.11 sale, but one thing's certain: just before 11.11 is not the best time to buy, if you're patient. They inflate price before the sale. The base price might not be the best YTD price, but the coupons will most definitely make it worth it. I would wait for sure
this right here. It's possible it'll not be the best sale of the year, but for sure it will be better than current prices
also it'll be the last big sale of the year, next one should be February on Chinese New Year.

as other said, the big thing is using coupons, which on these sales usually have big discount. You just need to be on the lookout on the home screen, or sellers also send images with the big coupons - there's different coupons for each country/regions

so prices can be not the lowest of the year, but with coupons it's pretty possible you get the best final price
just be aware that the coupons are limited, and sometimes the best are on the beginning of the sale, and other times they release new (and better) coupons right before the sale ends. Hard to tell which

just to comment, until 2021 the sale discounts were much higher, coupons too.. but it started to drop during these last years and it's getting worse each year...

couldn't the issue be that the photos are from different frame sizes?
with lots of frames, the smaller sizes have a more sloped top tube - the seat-post is smaller in relation to the stack/head-tube
so if you take the XL frame from w2ge the top tube will indeed be almost horizontal, while if you go for a XS it'll probably be a lot more sloped

if you look atthis photo of GCN's presenter Connor beside a shorter teammate, it's the same frame but you can see a top-tube slope difference (not so extreme, though)

I remember some time ago seeing a photo of 2 pro riders from the same team side by side, one of them was like 2m height and the other 1,6m, showing their bikes size difference. It'd be the perfect example, but I cannot find it again

https://aliexpress.com/item/1005005922695020.html

Anyone? Willing to try or already tried? They look pretty good from pictures but at this price I'm a little hesitant
by the photos alone the fabric seems the kind of cheap polyester which with time starts to disintegrate - loose threads, color fades, and the sweat smell doesn't go away. Of course, that'd be just what it looks like, but at that price, I wouldn't expect anything different, especially it's an unknown brand.
If you're ok with trying and maybe having to throw away after some months, then maybe worth it..

but imo, with offers from Darevie and Rion on the 'super deals' and such, which end up not being much more expensive, and at least you know the brand and that the fabric is better, I'd say it's better to spend your money on those than on some risky new shirt/brand

Why is the AliExpress search absolutely useless? It never brings up the items I'm looking for instead showcasing which I believe are sponsored items. I find it easier to type whatever I'm looking for in Google while adding the word AliExpress to the search field.
yeah, it's shit.
I actually find that on the phone app the search works well, always presents me with correct findings, the 'best match' and 'orders' categorization works well..
but on the browser the search never works, it's easier to just try to find the 1st product close to what I want, enter the product page, and search the related items - which for me Aliexpress does really well, I always find something interesting there - meaning it's not the most ordered items between the similar products, which for some cases it's just same product sold on different stores

this is popping in a number of topics these days, lots of products increasing in price by absurd amounts\
it's just common practice all over Aliexpress to prepare for the 11.11 sale. Products on Aliexpress are always with some amount of discount, it's always like 30% off over some 'stock' price which is never really practiced, or like 10 days a year tops.
soon it should be back to normal...

also another user pointed out that China is currently in Holidays, back next weekend, and the increase could be to discourage buyers, reduce order amount for a moment, and let them rest these days.
But honestly I don't think it's that, in my experience normally with long Holidays the website or the seller just extends the shipping time, covering their absence. Through chinese new year for example (february) the website normally advises that shipping will take 1-2 extra weeks due to holidays.

:o the Darevie bibs increased the prize ... its now more than double now, for € is 74... is this only for my account the case?
Also the jersey got much much much more expensive ?!
Even though I like them .. but that's not possible...I won't buy them again.

Model A (under stem mount) snapped in half after about 150km of riding. Made my Garmin 1040 flying! Great product otherwise. Bell works nice and I like the location of the light mount being tucked behind. Really wish there was a proper version of this product.
wait, 'great product' but it snaps with 150km? lol, that's a shitty product.
I know what you mean, but it's the concept that's great - and it comes from the original one - but the product itself is shit if cannot stand 5h of use...

if I were you, I'd open a dispute since it broke in 1st use, and also leave a review so it doesn't fool anyone else in the future (or at least it's an obstacle to...)

Sometimes they are increasing the price and getting ready for a "sale". I also saw the Magene Ultra Wheelset's price at $2000 but then it came back to $1200 or something.
probably, common practice all over Aliexpress. If you keep track, most items are always on some kind of discount, to give the impression that it's a special price and you either buy fast or the price will increase. Even though the higher price is on for like 10 days a year, and the usual price is at -30% tag.
So once in a while (normally right before some website sale) the price increases, for 1 or 2 days, and then comes right back.
