so any updates on this frame? any news regarding linkage?

At least one forum member has a Haideli 830 on the way. Other than that I’m not aware of anyone doing any builds yet, beyond the single one we’ve seen.

In my case, there wasn‘t a idea of Eddy selling fast a frame and beyond him the hell. I ask him directly the triangle will be fixed or not. He told me that the producing of improved triangle will take minimum jan 17th. They stopped my deliv. till this date. Now i’m changing the frame Model and this also wasn’t a problem. How it was worth i will see in a few days hopefully. In my case i can not see any bad methods.

Otherwise, if i understand right, cybrsrce rides the frame intensive with only a Teflonshrim fixing. If you want a „no worrys frame“ maybe it’s better to order a SC Hightower frame, isn‘t it?

Did you switch to an 830?

Metal Frames / Re: Hardcore hardtails

Here are the two versions marketed as Kona ST analogues, there’s also one that seems to be less “hardcore” marketed as a Santa Cruz Chameleon analogue:

Metal Frames / Hardcore hardtails

Hardcore hardtails with legit progressive geometry have been hard to find in the carbon category, from what I’ve read on those sections of the forum.

I was browsing AliExpress and noticed a store with several titanium models, some of which look quite progressive:

PYTITANS Official Store
https://a.aliexpress.com/_m0KeCPE

I assume we’d be hard pressed to find someone here who’s actually owned one, but figured they might be of interest to people looking for these kinds of frames.

They clearly market some of their products as analogues to branded bikes: two different hardcore hardtails are marketed as “Kona ST” and another is marketed as having the same geometry as a Linskey. That definitely earns an eyebrow raise, but doesn’t necessarily mean they aren’t legit.

For anyone following along at home, the frame arrived just before Xmas (3wks postage to Australia). The finished quality of the frame and paint job is great. Paint near the bearing is generally good, only looks like one spot where the paint might flake off, time will tell. The only thing I don’t like is the top cover for the headset but you can’t really complain for $15. Overall I’m quite impressed with the whole experience.

I can’t comment on how the bike actually rides but my partner seems to like it. I’ll try take it out for a spin and offer some feedback in the future.

I’ll take some more photos when the dropper post arrives.

Nice to see someone running one with a Topaz! I’ll be able to offer some tuning tips once I’ve got my initial mixed wheel build done (March, probably). I already run DVO on my current bike and am really happy with the performance.

Finally finished the build today.  11.27 kgs for an XL. I had the same issue with the axle.  Solved it with a thin washer under the head of the axle.  Looking forward to the shakedown ride.

Very interesting. That makes it sound like maybe the problem here isn’t the axle, but the fact that it wasn’t shipped with the intended washer/spacer.

Carbonda seems like the kind of company that might actually add the needed part for something like this in the future if you tell them exactly what you used.

I’m curious myself just in case something like this ends up being needed for my FM1002.

Don’t be afraid to go with a slightly longer fork if you need to. Getting the recommended A2C exactly right isn’t critical. I pretty much always over-fork my bikes by 10-20mm to increase the BB height and shorten reach.

You have to get down to head angles like 61-62deg before handling gets really floppy.

The thread must be 1.0
That's the issue ..I only found long axles with 1.5 , which is why I took the Carbonda axle.

I’ve never heard of trouble with the OEM axles for the 1001/1002, which makes me wonder if maybe not all their frames take the same length and they accidentally sent you the wrong one?

I’m finding plenty of axles with a 12x1.0 thread pitch but I think they’re too short; so far the one I was most interested in was the DT Swiss with removable QR handle, and they only seem to be available up to 168mm with 12x1.0 thread or 177-178 with 12x1.5. Weird that I can’t seem to find the right combination of length and thread, it doesn’t seem likely that this is a completely one-off axle type…

I just have to say that the LCFS958 is still a great bike, love riding it. Maybe in todays tounge its more downcountry than trail, with 130/140 mm travel (?) But it climbs well, descends well, is easy to handle quite light, a great bike :-)

And after the issues with the AM831 I must say that Light Carbon frames fell very thought through and well made.

If I do a shorter travel trail/downcountry build after my FM1002 is finished, the 958 is a very strong candidate. A little less travel and higher leverage than the FM1001 (not to mention 150-200g heavier), but really well built and easy on the eyes. Always good to hear long term reports on these frames!

someone already had the same problem, so I did not buy an axle from carbonda. I order genuine DT Swiss with good size.

I wonder if the FM1002/1002 take the same axles as the 909; I’d assume all their 148 axles are the same.

If that’s correct, I should probably ask what model (thread length/pitch) of DT Swiss axle you bought. I’m looking for a bolt type but it would be good to know exactly what I need regardless of the brand and type.

I bought this one: https://www.enduroforkseals.com/products/rear-suspension/shock-eyelet-bearing-kits/6mm-8mm-thru-bolts/NEEDLE-BEARING-30.html

Yes, You need only 30*8mm

Sorry for late reply!

Happy new year to all!

I got the same kit just yesterday, for my frame that hasn’t shipped yet. With the 1002’s upside down shock, I figure this ought to make a significant difference in plushness versus a bushing.

My plan has always been to build this bike gradually over the course of the winter so I can ride it in April when our trails start to dry out, but now that I’ve ordered the frame I find myself very impatient to find out exactly how everything works in the real world instead of having to imagine and guess.

There are some complaints from SC owners about the stock Low tunes that come with their bikes but I suspect it will be better than the standard aftermarket Mediums.

When DVO’s new Topaz T3 with the sideways piggyback becomes available (or the Suntour TriAir equivalent which also has a sideways piggyback), that may be the ideal for this frame. The stock DVO tune is pretty close to most other companies’ Low tunes but a little more supportive and with a very tunable air spring curve.

Give the Carbonda FM 1001 a look; it’s normally a 135mm frame with a 185x55 shock, but you can run it at 120 with a 185x50 and 140 fork, and there are no flex stays to worry about. It’s still fairly light at 2300g but has enough beef to give piece of mind and always has that upgradability to 135mm with a 150 or 160 fork if you need it later.

It’s on the “trail” side of XC, but that’s basically what XC full suspension used to mean before we subdivided all the old categories…

29er / Re: Carbonda FM1001/1002 headset question
« on: December 29, 2021, 02:46:29 AM »
You don't need to use the compression plug. You just just use a standard star nut if you are using an aluminum steerer. The headset itself is nothing special. Just install the crown race, bearings, upper race, cap, spaces, stem and torque everything to spec. Don't worry about the upper race and the cut cutout. There is plenty of material there. I've had zero issues with this headset and the compression plug on my FM1001. Hope that gives you some peace of mind.

Exactly what I was hoping to hear, thank you!
