My first chiner was a road bike from velobuild that I put some higher end Campagnolo parts on. A local curmodgeon warned me that the head tube was going sheer off. Thats what happened with some of the original chinarello knock offs before the direct to consumer market got serious. That told me this guy had done 0 research and just liked to spread fear. He's really the one one who hated on it. Even my local bike shop was cool with it.

I rode that bike for several thousand miles before selling the frame to another local who rode it for another several thousand miles before selling it to another local guy. That frame is still rolling under its 5th owner and thousands upon thousands of miles later.

They seem decent though I have no first hand knowledge. Better than any of the direct from china shocks for sure. I'd suggest looking at X-Fusion options as well. Pretty similar pricepoint and they come stock on lower end full sus bikes. That's gotta count for something.

Also..this should probably be in the components section.

Thats a great looking build! Did you have to source your own fork or was that part of the deal with PYTitans? Paint job on it looks fantastic.

The XM490 hub has a pretty good reputation. I'd suggest opening up the hubs and make sure they're lubed well upon arrival. The no name spokes are a point of concern. Have the spoke tension checked before hitting the trails. I'd do that with any wheelset tbh.

For the price, I hope you get at least a solid season or two of riding or a couple thousand miles...depending on how much you ride.

Component Deals & Selection / Re: Chinese forks

Pity as the Chinese have decent alternatives to just about every other component, can't fathom that they haven't cracked a half decent fork.

I'm still waiting for decent chinese hydro brakes and a derailleur with an actual clutch.  :-\

Wouldn't bother with chinese forks if I were you. There is a guy on youtube (Wolftick Videos) who does reviews on them. The Epixon/Raidons you find on Aliexpress or ebay are much safer bets.

I am interested, but could use a little direction.
I've ridden a pretty entry level hardtail (cannondale trail 3) for the last two years and would like to transition to a FS. I road a chinese road bike for years and its still going strong in the hands of another local rider, so I'm not afraid of china carbon.

I'm 6'2" and ride a XL (21). Would that translate to a L or should I go with XL?
Is this more of a trail bike? Or enduro? All mountain?

My only real concern is that this is new unproven tech. But I guess someone has to be the guinea pig huh?

Thanks for the link! I’d searched amazon, but it seemed most plugs were frame specific. I think I can make those work though.

Road Bike Frames, Wheels & Components / FM-011 build question.
« on: February 26, 2018, 09:32:02 PM »
Hey Everyone,

I’m building up my second Chinese frame. My first was a Zhongwei R-002 before they bought up Velobuild. Now it’s called R-022? I also have some Yoeleo 38mm wheels which have been fantastic. Highly recommend them.

I recently purchased a used FM-011 and will swap my wheels over to it along with my Campy chorus groupset from my caad10. My question is what do people use to plug the di2 holes if using mechanical? Any suggestions are appreciated.
