What reputation does Winow have? It's a very interesting frame for what i'm after (32C road bike, essentially).

I've ordered so much stuff on AliX. As soon as you receive it, have a very close look. Install it right away on a bike (I think you have 14 days) and make sure it works. If you can prove it's fake, or prove it's broken or what not, you'll get your money back.
AliX is now doing what Ebay has always done: offering buyer protection.
Are fake FD / RD / shifters a thing?

Anyone has a recommendation for custom team wear on Ali?

I'm in Europe. Years ago i got team kit done in Portugal, still wearing their stuff, can't fault the quality. carvalhocustom.com. Idk if they're still in business, the website looks dated AF. The whole kit is years later as if it were new.

Do we know the weight difference between ERX and ER9?

Does anyone have experience with these frames or a photo of a bikebuild?

I can never imagine from the frames so well the finished bikes.

I'm with you here. Tantan just won't send me full bike pictures, even getting frame pictures is an adventure. It's not inspiring confidence. There are a lot of reports on this forum of people having issues with the brand, and is it incompetence not to have an intern on Instagram collecting pictures of customer bikes? Or is it that they sell very few frames? Or is it that they sell many, but OEM, and they don't actually want to sell direct?
It's confusing and frustrating

Just gave me VB 168 a good cleaning and inspection
Have about 1200 miles on it, with a lot of talk about split bearing cap and steerer I pulled apart and had a look, I see a broken steerer as a catastrophic failure !!

Besides having issues with getting proper compression on bearings and plug slipping up when trying to preload the bearings

When I took it apart the outside of the tube looked good, no cuts or grooves, the inside on the other hand had a lot of delaminating carbon

Should I be concerned ?

A broken steerer does lead to catastrophic failure, it's not in your mind :)
I'm no expert, and maybe it's the flash that makes it look dramatic, but it does look like pretty material delamination. I didn't take pictures of the cut steerers that I installed, but goes without saying that they never looked like that. With all the YT content I watch on these topics, i would have noticed.
I'd contact Chris, you're probably under warranty still?
Do you use a torque wrench? Any chance you'd have crushed the steerer with the stem?
Also, I have no idea how much delamination you need before it's dangerous / unsafe to ride.

I've read somewhere or seen that you paint the bikes yourself with spray cans.
How many do you use there per wheel and does it look reasonably clean?
How does that behave with the extra weight after a paint job?

i did just that a few weeks ago using the best spray cans i could find at the DIY store (aka, ghetto). I ordered my frame with primer only. Bought 1 can of primer because some of the primer was sanded down, then 2 colours, so 2 cans, and 1 can of clearcoat (bought 2, but didn't need 2). 2K clearcoat is what you want for a durable finish, but i couldnt easily find it, and it's rather expensive, so i went with standard car clearcoat in a can. The whole thing cost me less than 30 eur. The clearcoat that many chinese frame sellers use is also not 2K, because the paint scratches very fast. I'm happy with my result but i already scratched it when mounting on a bike rack and not using the clamp properly (my fault entirely). The hardest is to use masking tape to protect stuff. In spring time, everything dries super fast, in 2-3 days your bike is ready to be built. I watched a lot of videos beforehand.

is there a replica of the Cervelo r5? would love to build a second bike with more traditional look, everyone is doing short seatstays these days.

Yes, you can type cervelo r5 frame in aliexpress and find such frames right away (1st i found was from the store "high quality carbon frameset store". Not exactly a confidence inspiring name). Then as you navigate among replicas (the SL7 being omnipresent), you'll see various postings or model options within a posting labelled only as "r5", which is what you're after. My issue is all these sellers seem to have very limited track record, if any at all.

Btw, the Tan Tan FM639 looks pretty similar without being a fake, doesnt it?

Wow, thank you very much guys, I'm really changing my mind in to the Saphim spoke side.

btw, i found a factory with UCI registration and they supply PRO team and they sell carbon spokes wheelset with the same hub as Light Bicycle (https://www.mostsport.com/700c-50mm-carbon-spoke-wheels-for-road-disc-brake-super-light-weight/) and some in-home made hub (which i like much more because of 2:2 lacing pattern and ratchet system https://www.mostsport.com/700c-50mm-carbon-spoke-wheels-for-road-disc-brake-super-light-weight/) and all of these wheels in the range of 500-600$ which is crazy price.

Interesting. Never heard of them though (eminently anecdotal, isnt it?).
One thing to note: 26mm wide is pretty old school by today's standards. If you want to run 28C, you probably want a 28mm wide rim (at least). My next roadie will be 32C, with 32mm wide rims :)

Should I just relax on the proprietary seatpost thing? My logic is they supposedly have less issues with fit, and are more comfortable. If neither is a big deal then I will just get the Elves Falath Pro I really want.

What i would do is ask for a spare seatpost when buying the frame, that way you can sleep at night. I do that with rear mech hanger as default, same with spokes.
Most western bike brands make proprietary seat posts (it's probably a tad more aero, but i think it's mostly to charge more, essentially), so when these open moulds are made, i think it's fair to expect similar non standard posts.
Rule of thumb, it seems gravel frames have standard posts, road ones are D shaped, 1 way or the other.

Edit: The frame "Taiwan Made T1000 FASTERWAY Disc Brake Version O2 Carbon Road Bike Frame:Frame+Seatpost+Fork+Clamp+Headset,EMS Free Shipping" sold by "taiwan factory bike parts Store" on aliexpress seems to have a round seat tube, just came across it.

Very nice, thank you for the feedback.
I can't see on your pics the paint cracks, so i guess that's good.
Having looked at Aliexpress recently, some sellers explain the VAT shenanigans to Europe. If i got it right, the price you see when shopping includes VAT by law, but when you checkout you dont pay it (I think the deal is that above a certain amount (i think 100 or 150 EUR), the VAT isn't forcibly charged). Then shipping is shipping.

How does the bike compare to your previous bike, how does it ride, are you happy?

It looks like tantan is listing the weight as ~1100g while seraph is listing it as 1300g. Could one of you weigh it when you get it? This is definitely the top of my list right now.

Easiest is probably to ask them. I think (I may be confusing manufacturers, so bear with me) they sometimes offer 2 carbon layups, the light version i've seen requiring a MOQ of 10 or more.
So it could be the same frame / mould with different layups.

478
I've mentioned this multiple times in the other thread, 32mm wide is not going to cut it on this frame.

I was very excited to find this as I thought it was a perfect fit, but the tire clearance was a dealbreaker for me. Ended up selling it, I loved it otherwise!

Sorry, on which frame are you referring to? This is the FM025.
The X37 is marketed as 35C, and they say they dont have stock, it's brand new.

479
Tantan website actually says that max is 35c http://www.tantancycling.com/index.php?_m=mod_product&_a=view&p_id=1084 I guess?

From the photos it looks fine, I don't think there's a chance of rubbing and there's enough room for stuff and dirt. However, it is hard to say how wide the tyre actually is without knowing how wide are the wheels used in the picture

Haha, you're right, they changed it again! literally 5 days ago it said 30, then 32 last time i checked, then 35.
Well if they're now marketing it as 35C, and not even 35mm, any 32C tyre, even on a 32mm wide rim, should fit.

Hi all, i'm in the market for a Chinese road frame. I'd go with the VB 177 if it could handle 32C tyres comfortably, but it seems it can't.
I contacted Tantan, they sent me these pictures of their FM025 frame. The page used to say 30C max until a few days ago, they made the change because of the questions I asked. So now it says 32C max. These pics are with a conti 5000 32C tyre.
I'm not a power sprinter so i dont expect to flex my frame like mad, but does it look like the frame can comfortably handle 32C? It' a very important point for me, i've tested 28 and 32 back to back and the comfort difference is material, yet Peak Torque has shown there is virtually no performance downside providing you use a super wide rim. So my next road bike must accommodate 32C.
Thanks!

EDIT NOTE: I asked them for X37, they said no stock, so they're suggesting FM025 instead. That one used to say 30C, they then changed the description to 32C. The X37 has been 35C the whole time, which is why i contacted them in the 1st place. Apologies i got the models confused. So these photos are FM025.
