Road Bike Frames, Wheels & Components / Re: OG-EVKIN CF-026

They have great peripheral carbon components but I always found their frame to be one or two generations behind.

That is why I prefer to work with Carbonda.
I don't remember any issue. Even once the customs here screwed a 2 frames delivery, and shipped them back.
In that case it is by boat. They never arrived back.
Carbonda did send me 2 other frames, no question asked.
For me, that build bikes for others for years now, this is gold.
The same with lightbicycle.com for wheels.

I'm all for trying other brands too, but in the end high quality and after sale service is what matter.
I'm not sponsored at all but if you can't stomach the ups and down of importing they are a safer bet.
It always saddens me when I read someone on the forum having a bad experience when building their bike.

Probably just configurable within a utility app?
That would be great indeed.

...I struggle with the idea that Mathias Flückiger rides a run of the mill, copycat open mold frame that costs $1000 or less.
To maybe overcome your struggles 8)
Lars Forster did some world cup races on a $550 041 frame

Some competition to SRAM:
https://bikerumor.com/wheeltop-wireless-mtb-drivetrain-12-speed/
It can(still not sure how) be configured for 7 to 12 speed cassettes.

i did,it doesnt seem to....

Which headset did you use?
I didn't build this bike in particular.
But I have seen various cheap headsets coming with frames.
Each time the issue was me, not the headset.

Hey Guys i need some advice on headsets that you guys used int your build....has anyone gotten any issue with headset coming slightly loose after a ride?

Did you check if the compression plug moved up in the steerer ?

The cheap headsets you get from the frame builders or from Aliexpress for $10-15 are perfectly valid.
Just put a generous amount of marine grease on top of each bearings and they will last as long as the branded headsets you may try.
Stainless steel bearings from Aliexpress last a bit longer, but maybe not worth the extra cost.

I´m running 170MM, will check if the sag was too much, but I was running the shock open (It has no platform, just open or close) do you usually close/pedal platform when climbing?
What would give me the biggest pedal clearence the shock or the fork? Also going to 42.5MM that add how much of travel 115?120?

Unless on a long asphalt or a flat gravel climb, I learned to ride always open.
If I remember well, the 42.5 gives a 110mm travel.

520
...I am using the Carbonda compression plug as well. Have you had any problems with this?
Sometimes the plug is conical, and can make contact with the nut at its center with still some room for the steerer to go up.
Maybe some pictures would give ideas.

521
Did you check the Deda SUPERBOX ?
It has 130 and 140mm available.

With 175mm spindles, a 120 fork, and 42.5mm shock, no strike issue.
The pressure of the fork and shock are by the manual for my weight, nothing special.
But I sync my pedaling with the terrain when things go rough.

I would review again and again the assembly, there isn't anything mysterious in a headset.
Either you compress the bearings enough and they don't move anymore, or something is in the way preventing them to compress properly.
There's nothing wrong with the provided headset.

My two main reasons of this kind of issue were the top cap making contact with the tube or the the compression nut.
Or a not tightened enough compression nut, that moves up the steer tube while tightening the top cap.
Did you try to add a 5 or 10mm spacer and tighten ?

Wow thanks for the update. And kudos to them for the honesty and fixing things.
I didn't know hubs could deform under spokes load.
They are learning things DT-Swiss, Hope, even Novatec and others probably know already.
The special bearings fix isn't great for the long run.

UPDATE: Paypal denied the claim
...So beware relying on Paypal for warranty backup
My experience too.
I always pay now as Friend and Family, saving the 4 something % with providers I trust.
