Chainring with offset... 3mm & 6mm Chainrings with Shimano direct mount are available from Alugear:...

Thanks. Your link is broken, something looks strange at its end.
This is precisely the ring I took hoping it would help but no  ???

I'd love to try them, see if they are more rigid, and yeah... save ~50g  ::)
I'm still a bit sceptical on 2 aspects.

The carbon spokes, how easy it would be to find and replace a broken one where you ride.
A no holes rim to avoid the tape is not possible with them.

Then the hubs, I prefer to stick to a known brand especially DT-Swiss.
Multiple times they saved me with their available range of free hubs or end caps.
To service them, or because of an order mistake, or to reuse the wheels on another bike or changing the transmission brand.

That said, only a few bikes I've built, came back with broken spokes, and carbon ones should be stronger.
Hopefully they designed the hub to have a single size, so 4 spares would save you in most cases.
Using a steel spoke temporarily should be possible too.

Riders who change their transmission or want to reuse their wheels on another bike is not that common either.

Try the m8120 with 55mm chainline.
Yeah, that's what I'm afraid of.
This frame is designed for the 56.5mm chainline but not advertised as such.
Not sure how the guy in the picture got his Eagle working, expecting a 53mm chainline max.

Did anyone try already an XT M8100 crankset on a BB92 frame like this one ?
A 32T is touching the chainstay.

Did you have to put a shim to get the chainring a few mm out ?
When I try this. The spindle is a bit too short than usual to tighten it.

Road Bike Frames, Wheels & Components / Lightbicycle WR40 wheels
« on: May 26, 2022, 09:08:58 AM »
Back in January, it was time for a new (light) road frame !

flybike-asia.com had one I really liked: https://www.flybike-asia.com/product/145.html
But Carbonda told me the MOQ was 30 ;D

At the same time a friend got me a super deal for an Aethos frame... and boum! I fell off.
Then looking for a light wheelset, I took the WR40 rims: https://www.lightbicycle.com/700C-road-bicycle-rims-32mm-wide-40mm-deep-symmetric-clincher-road-disc-brake-available.html

The finish is just beautiful UD carbon weaves with a shiny epoxy straight out of the mold, no coating.
Which apparently is more scratch resistant.
The wavy shape and the finish makes them stand out from the boring wheels around and that I had for years.

1334g, with DT240 Exp hubs and CX-ray spokes.
Always no spoke holes now, so no need ever to tape them.

They are 32mm wide.
28mm GP5000 tires fit perfectly for the aero.
And provide a very smooth and comfortable ride on the not so good roads here in Belgium.
They have now about 4 months and 3000km, and are still as new.

YouTube Title: Dream Build Bike Pinarello F12 Shimano Duraace Miche Wheelset made in İtaly

Thanks for sharing this nice video.
Mounting the handlebar reversed first is a great idea !

...Your GT-F is hands down the best hydromechanical option on the market, so it'll for sure be a downgrade in terms of performance.
Just because of the double pistons or there are other design advantages ?

26er & 27.5 (650b) / Re: Damn, cracked seat tube.
« on: May 24, 2022, 11:50:02 AM »
Did you get any response from Tideace?

I repaired a few frames already, but failed once around the seattube, as it was not easy to wrap it well because of the other tubes around.
As it is a quite solicited zone, it cracked again.
Good luck in trying, and send us pics !

This should not happen by just putting the seatpost in.
Did you apply a lot of force?
Not sure this can be repaired unfortunately.
Maybe if you have a carbon repair shop around, ask them, but this could quickly become the price of a new frame.

Ask Tideace opinion, if they think this a defect?
Or if you're sure you caused it , delay your own bike I'm afraid, and get another frame for her.

What is your budget ?

You can try to contact Eddy at haidelibicycle.com

I got this one to build with their new 29er frame.
Maybe they would sell you one.
I know 475mm is in bold, but this one is 510mm.
Why do you need 475mm ?

I am considering solving the problem by drilling a couple of small holes in front of BB.

I drilled most of my frames, and through the alloy BB shell if any, as water can accumulate inside too.
A single 1.5mm or 2mm hole is in general enough.
Remove the crank and look for the lowest point of your frame where you park it usually, and drill there.

I've just seen these rims on weightweenies: https://weightweenies.starbike.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=161137&start=45#p1746155

https://aliexpress.ru/item/1005002177903201.html?sku_id=12000018950702925&spm=a2g2x.orderlist.0.0.129b4aa6Y8AZoi
275g  :o

They have everything to desire: wide, no paint finish, offset and light.
You can even write "SCOOT" on them  ;D

They just miss the reputable seller stamp, but at first sight not worse than hulkbike001.

... factor in costs for tools you may not have.

Building your bike put you on another level.
Many of us started to build their first bike with very limited tools.
A multi tool, with a chain breaker, while not the most comfortable can do a lot.

Then you need a BB tool, either a very cheap M12 bolt + washers for Press Fit, or a Shimano BB if you go with a threaded BB.
And a cassette removal tool.
Aliexpress sell all these tools very cheap too.

If you don't have a torque wrench, tighten the screw gently, and if the thing moves, tighten a bit more, but never too hard, until it doesn't move.
And if you have a doubt, look at Youtube for help, or stop, and ask the question here  8)

Very cool.
Lightcycle hoops?

I bought these from https://www.ebay.com/usr/hulkbike001
I quickly scanned the shop, but didn't see them anymore.

And here is an old post about it:
