Or get the thing that actually makes it easy for $9.

Never saw that tool before- not sure how I missed it, since I've spent plenty of time on the Stan's site and other bike sites looking at valves and other accessories.  Thanks Amazon Prime!

Pretty much the same for me- just over 2 years on an -057 frame.  I don't put in huge mileage, but they are almost all hard miles with lots of rocks and roots, and I weigh about 205 pounds.

Oh lol. So your saying with the new XT Derailleur it may not have much chain slap if any?  Maybe I could put some clear protective tape just to be safe.

Yeah, you still want something on there for protection, maybe two layers if you are using a very thin clear packing tape.  I would try the clear tape first, just so it doesn't cover your design.  Keep an eye on it when you wash/maintain the bike to be sure that it isn't getting dinged.  Mine has been fine, but if you start seeing damage you can change to a thicker protector.

I used color matched electrical tape  8)

With a clutch derailer, it's not as critical to have stuff all over the chainstay.  I rode with a buddy Saturday who has an older bike, and I swear I could hear his chain slapping from 30 feet away.

Are the valve cores easier to remove?  They didn't mention that so maybe not.  My biggest complaint with the Stan's valves is that the cores can be a pain to remove and replace.

Harder than other valves? It's the same type of valve, and it's the same valve core as others. Haven't found any issues with the Stan's valves when using the Stan's valve core remover, so not sure what issues you're running into.

I don't have the Stan's tool, so I'm just using whatever pliers are close at hand.  I guess I need to cut a ~3 mm slot (or whatever it is) in an Ikea wrench.

My older set is gouged up a bit; I may be over tightening them when I put them back in, but I sure don't want the stem to work its way out.

My Neco came with a solid crown race- those are an interference fit, so it is really tight.  I've not used a split one, but it looks like they have been around a while.  Are you able to get everything tight, with no rocking or creaking of the headset?

Karsten-
Sorry, no idea how tight their tolerances are.  My guess is that on the diameter they are fairly good (+/-0.25 mm?) but I would be looking for a backup plan until I got the bolts. :)

McMaster Carr has them, around $4 per set.  There should be a similar industrial supply website in other countries.  Also try searching for "binding posts".

These are in inch sizes, so you'd need the 5/16" (7.94 mm) OD barrels.  They have 3/4", 7/8", and 1" lengths (19, 22, and 25 mm).   You may need to grind down the end or put a washer under the head to get the correct length.

Looks like an awesome place for a ride, but do you have fenders?  Now, the thought of running over horse crap isn't so bad  :)

Pretty close, but I can see a couple right off.  The wrap-around on the top of the chain stays is missing, plus the 'short' part on the top side of the down tube looks too short.

Still think it looks great.  Just don't show anybody the sketch. :)

In my limited experience with regular and plus tires (I just built a set of 27.5+ wheels for my -057 frame 29er), what I notice most is better cornering- it feels like I can lean the bike over more before the tire rolls over or loses traction.  Part of this is probably due to the wider rim, and part of it may also be due to differences in the tires, but there is a definite difference in cornering feel.  The ride is a bit softer as well, due to lower air pressure.  I think it is worth having the option, but since plus frames are the new thing now it may cost more that it's worth to you.

What did you hate about the 29er- Were the ones you tried all similar geometry?  I have no complaints on the agility/handling of mine (I'm not a racer, so your mileage may vary).  It's definitely bigger than my old 26er, but I don't see a negative on the trail.

Does it take standard width hubs and BB?  Don't see anything on the pic, but the LaMere frame says "Boost" on it.

What I'd really like to know is where to get a copy of the book that it was scanned from:)

On the bike24 website make sure you have the proper country selected- for me, it would default to Getmany and add in VAT to the total.  Changing to the U.S. drops the prices quite a bit, and shipping is around $20.

Yes, a lot to go through in that thread :)

I didn't make any changes, such as adding glitter or mica.  I read through several pages but never found a definitive change to the recipe.
