Road Bike Frames, Wheels & Components / Re: Hygge Aero Carbon Frame
« on: September 05, 2023, 01:04:46 PM »

  • The image I had of Hygge has taken somewhat of a hit since ordering:
    • They stole my pictures and put them on their IG page along with a couple of other Hygge related IG accounts. The main accounts removed them, but other account were rude, blocked me and are probably still using my pictures.

I must admit that the way they treated you after stealing your pictures is enough reason for me to not consider them in the future.

There a a lot of other nice frames out there. And if one would like to buy this exact frame, it probably would be better to buy directly from Winow.

Has anyone been able to find the following details below directly from Hygge?

-Location/Mailing/Shipping Address
-Factory Location
-Return Policy
-Warranty Information

Not even their "official" website has any company information or "About Us" page. Every single Chinese brand I've tested from VeloBuild, Dengfu, TanTan, Rinasclta, and Yinshun all the way up to Yoeleo/Winspace has this information easily available.

For myself who is constantly swapping frames this probably would not be a deal breaker. Especially for a $500 frame. However, for the general public I would be cautious. The first red flag was Hygge stealing TinyDinosaur's photos. I'm not questioning the legitimacy of their business but the details outline above is standard business practice. I would inquire about this if I were buying a frame.

Even popular AliExpress Chinese bike seller OG-Evkin has this information available on their official website.

According to their facebook page, their mail adress is "sales@aisurfproducts.com". I did a quick googling session and I found their CEOs LinkedIn (https://cn.linkedin.com/in/aaron-luo), but could not find and more info on their mother company "A&I Enterprise Limited". Their main business seems to be surfboards, as their (dead) website was called "www.aisurfproducts.com".

Just curious, what are the little things attached to the spokes?

Those are just stickers from the spoke manufacturer Pillar.
He will probably remove them soon.  ;)

Thinking to grab one of these and build it up. Has anyone had experience with this frame?

https://www.lightcarbon.com/lightcarbon-new-road-disc-brake-frame-with-integrated-carbon-stem_p122.html

No personal experience with this, but it is sold by a german wheel brand as their inhouse frame. Just as a input: https://leezebikestore.de/products/leeze-aero-one

I've ran some 3d printed stem spacers on my bike for ~1000km after I built it up until the white color irked me enough to order some cheap carbon ones.

It was printed out of 100% PLA, didn't have any issues with creep in that time.
Since the load is compressive and fairly low, there will be hardly any creep especially if you print it 100% infill.

That being said, use PETG or something that won't deform in the heat :)

3D-printed spacers above the stem are a whole different story. They are not loaded and therefore not critical at all. They are only loaded while you tighten the headset. Theoretical (I ofc do not advise) you could remove the spacers after you tightened the stem bolts.

However, a lot of Allez Sprints use 3D printed spacer adapter for the SL7 stem, as a loaded part...

And I had to face the brake mounts. It was pretty laborious to get the thing rub free.

Did you face the brake mounts yourself?
Do you have the proper tooling or how did you approach this?

The 066 just got updated to fully internal cables and T47 BB!
https://www.velobuild.com/products/2023-vb-r-066-carbon-fiber-endurance-road-racing-bike-frame-disc-version

When I spoke to Chris last week, he mentioned that they will release a new VB road frame in the next months.
I wonder if this might be it.

But the 066 is still interesting as a modern lightweight frame, with T47 BB.

I just preemptively ordered my group set (Ltwoo ER9) and wheels (Elite wheels Pro 55mm). After wrapping up a couple of final questions for Speeder, it seems like I have a beautiful build to do within the next couple of months.

Thank you all for the help. I will surely post pictures of the parts and complete bike.

Great to hear! Feel free to start a dedicated thread on the SC-R49D! I am sure a lot of us will be interested!

I just received a quote for my measurements (height: 183 cm, inner leg: 88.5 cm):

"SC-R49D frame + fork + seatpost + handlebar: US$780/set
Thru axles: US$20/set
NO.55R headset: US$30/set
Shipping cost: US$120
PayPal fee: US$45

The total is US$995.

I would recommend the size 50cm, reach 397mm."

The only thing that is holding me back from pulling the trigger is a lack of information I can find on the frame, e.g. reviews / pictures.

Is Speeder Cycling a reputable brand? And do we have people here that have experience with that particular frame?

Good to know that they are selling this now without the MOQ of 10.
Price seems very reasonable.

I dont have a Speeder myself, but there a few threads on this forum. They seem to be good quality, somehow also affiliated to winspace (their OEM, idk). I would buy from them without worries.

There is a section on here for gravel/cx. https://chinertown.com/index.php/board,21.0.html

Personally, I would not consider rimbrakes for any gravel build

The Adapt FM49-DB might be what you're after!

http://www.adapt-bikes.com/Products-detail?product_id=94

Speeder also has this: https://www.speedercycling.com/Carbon-Road-Disc-Frameset-SC-R49D-_p399.html

But good luck getting your hands on these. They don't seem to sell single framesets to private buyers.

I’ve missed out on opportunities to review more premium products because companies assume I’ll somehow compare their offerings to cheaper alternatives.

Sounds like a good path!
But I hope you will always compare the premium products to cheaper alternatives. Value for money is what our community and your viewers are after, and not just high-end products no matter the cost.

Keep it Up!

They accepted to send you a 1088? Can you forward me the mail? XD I am dying to get the frame.

Haha I was thinking the same! I reached out to them regarding the 1088 a few weeks back and they said they would not sell it to individual customers.
