Dengfu FM208
54cm
Amazon Elitewheels 60mms (28mm wide!)
28c GP5000 clinchers
7.1kg as pictured (had it down to 6kg even with questionable weight weenie mods)
Fun all arounder and my first build. Some Dura Ace bits and a Quarq PM (which frankly I'm a little disappointed with). Itching to try a sub 7kg disc brake build.

Road Bike Frames, Wheels & Components / Can we have a gallery thread?
« on: August 27, 2023, 07:46:51 PM »
Would love a thread where people just have 1-2 pictures of their bikes with the following specs:

Make
Model
Size (people always seem to forget this)
Wheels + tires (with wheel width + tire size to judge clearance)
Weight
Link to full build/details

No comments! Would be nice to just see what is out there

Would also be cool to have 1 thread with all the current brands and models available with links and a brief description (i.e. Elves Falath Pro- rim/disc brake aero frame, $1000USD)

Info is just a little too decentralized IMO

BXT does one, but I hear their customer service isn't very good if you run into any issues.

BXT's carbon frames are damn near as heavy as aluminum  :( They look good but that's a no go

Are there any SL7 style frames with regular old 27.2 seatposts?

Curious as to which of the brands has the best quality and customer service. Also very curious about tire clearance as I want to do 28cs on wide wheels. I'm leaning towards TFSA as they have the nicest paint schemes IMO

Honestly one of my biggest gripes with the 177 is just the look. I hate the square down tube and the funky wedge front triangle. I will keep it in mind though.

Bummer about the R12, I really like it. What didn't you like about the 168? You seemed relatively positive on it in your review.

I think I have narrowed my next build down to these two frames. I'm not a powerhouse but I am heavier (hoping to get down to 80kg). Roads around here aren't too bad; I plan to run either bike on 30c tires and wide wheels (though I'm OK with dropping to 28c if clearance is an issue).

Pat from what I remember you said the Velobuild was a little flexy while the Dengfu was a little stiff. This will also be my first disc build (I would like to go hydraulic). So based on comfort and ease of assembly which way would you go? I am kind of partial to the Dengfu as I like my Dengfu FM208 rim brake build and the general look of the R12.

I think the regular bike prices have been tacky. You will soon have to be a millionare to buy a road bike.
Not really, especially if you buy used. Plus with all the affordable "original" frames there's no point in buying a fake frame, unless you want to look like you spent more money than you could afford which seems to be the case with you.

Is this an endurance frame? I don't understand the geometry.

That is a good looking bike. Kind of bummed that it doesn't come into its own until ~23-24 MPH though...

I like the 1018, though it seems "aggressively" enduro lol.

Yea what is the deal with Yishun bikes? They have some awesome frames I would love to order. Do they sell under a different name?

Its really interesting to view this in terms of the market. For all the places Chinese brands have been able to make inroads it's interesting that folks draw the line here. Basically if it's something that will need continued support and development.... no thanks. Heck even a mechanical Chinese groupset might not be worth it to someone who has a bike shop do their work. They might not touch it. Definitely some things to think about.

I am also looking at these. I ride a 54cm FM208. 54cm VB-R-168 has the same reach but 8mm less stack. Is that a huge difference? I also want to get narrower bars.... go from 42cm down to 38cm which I feel like might make up for the lowered stack. I guess I could just put the bars 8mm higher too.

I got my weight weenie build out of my system so an affordable stiff compliant frame sounds great to me!
