Road Bike Frames, Wheels & Components / Re: Best TPU tube brand
« on: March 03, 2025, 11:02:48 AM »
I have to make pairs of tires+tubes and check if it works.

This should work fine till you can get extra wheels or another bike(s). I remember a long time ago I used one mountain bike for everything – racing and trail riding on weekends, and commuting on weekdays. I'd swap between a couple of different 2"+ knobby tires to 1.25 Fat Boy slicks. Made a pretty good difference to make it worthwhile. But yeah match the tubes to the tire and just swap both at the same time.

Just noticed this while browsing: LEXON Bike Integrated Handlebar Carbon Fiber Rise 800mm -7 Degrees XC Handlebar One-Piece Shaped MTB Flat Bar Stem Bicycle Parts
https://a.aliexpress.com/_mPr1jlD

Anyone have experience with Ryet/Lexon integrated MTB bars?

If they have your size - Scott has their RC Python and RC Evo on sale 50% off. $115 and $150.

I found it hard to find off-road shoes on AliX that advertise as really stiff.

Finally got a USPS tracking update. Looks like DHL has it and it's on the move to get to my local postoffice.
Another update: USPS has the item locally and will deliver tomorrow.

I'm pretty sure this is normal. Only really notice it when doing stoppies or rolling backwards and apply brakes.

Just my observation with my order: Choice items ended up in US customs Feb 5 and has never left. A couple of the items (all the choice items have the same USPS tracking number so must be packed together) in the package have had both their estimated delivery date extended out to March 1, but also the refund request time to 40 days (vs the normal 30 days).

I also had one item that wasn't a Choice item get shipped a day earlier, passed US customs on the Feb 7, and delivered on Feb 15.

Looking at this thread Feb 5 seems to be the magic date that a majority of orders that entered US customs got stuck into the black hole.

I'll be requesting my refunds as soon as I can if my order doesn't arrive.

I don't think so. I think it created a giant backlog that is mostly getting worked thru. I got two packages yesterday from Feb 5, and they didn't scan as moving until they got local.
This is good to know. Thanks for reporting that. Looks like there is hope.  :)

Recent fall I got this 3D printed Ryet one in 140mm, I would recommend.

I have 2 of these. A 3d printed-full carbon on my roadie and an EVA top-full carbon on my hardtail XC bike. Both seem comfy enough for me, but it's only been a few months. Not sure on long term yet, or even rides longer than 1.5 hrs.

Maintenance, Mechanics, & Tools / Re: Please start using Mywhoosh?
« on: January 13, 2025, 05:01:28 PM »
Just started using Woosh.

Set-up is:
2019 MacBook Pro
Bluetooth only (may get an ant+ adaptor for heart rate later)
Magene PES P505

Using a non-smart set of rollers.

I don't get resistance changes/feedback. But of the couple rides I've done it's fun.

Component Deals & Selection / Re: Coins On Aliexpress website

on one hand it's a pretty lame marketing trick to get you to login and browse. On the other hand for items that cost a bit more there can be a small but still real cost savings. I had about $18usd off a wheelset. When combined with an available coupon I saved a total of almost $23usd. Not huge, but covered sales tax in my state.

IMHO it doesn't cost me anything but 10 minutes of my time to collect them, especially if I'm already logging on to browse, so somewhat worth it. :)

Thank you all! Great info. Looks like it's hard to find actual carbon soled MTB on AliEX. But it seems kind of rare even for "regular" brands. The Crono from Merlin look like nice shoes. Although I found Scott has a sale on their MTB RC shoes that I might try. More expensive than AliEx, but still a deal.

I have these: https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256806406774206.html

Not ridden yet, but initial thoughts are that they seem very well made, fit perfect for my size, the dials work great and the soles are what I expect from carbon – very stiff.

Waiting on cleats to come in to mount and ride.

Looking at this shoe: https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256804454454535.html

Wondering if anyone has experience with them and how they fit compared to US sneaker sizing and compared to other cycling shoes (Sidebike, Sidi)?

Also, photos "look" like it has a carbon SPD area. Is it carbon and how stiff is it? I like them as stiff as the stiffest road bike shoes. Any info appreciated. Thanks.

Component Deals & Selection / Re: Magene P505 PES Base Spider Powermeter
« on: December 01, 2024, 03:24:53 PM »
Just received my crankset/power meter set. During registration I was notified of the software update and started the process. While updating my phone went to sleep. I woke it back up and had to “manually” finish the update.  But after the update-I wasn’t able to connect to the unit with my phone. Doing the magnet reset fixed it all.

For anyone who needs to know how to do a magnet reset — pop the charger on the unit and plug it back in. While plugged in, bring a magnet and hold it just above the charging light (with the Magene logo reading normally) till the light blinks a couple times. That should take care of it.
