I think it depends on the wax. I used to use pure paraffin and it was quite fast but now using Silca and it takes much longer - 1/2 hour at least of hard riding. You may be leaving too much wax on the chain as well. When taken out of the pot you should not notice much wax on the outside of the chain, it's on the inside of the rollers is where it counts.
I was thinking the same thing about taking it out too late. Seems after lots of digging my chain had significantly more wax than most pics I saw. Plus I dont think I left it in long enough for the wax to enter the rollers. trying it again now and will hopefully remedy this.

Currently building an elves falath evo+ and am having trouble indexing the rear derailleur. I'm thinking its mainly due to starting with a waxed chain that hasn't been broken in yet. I have it pretty closely dialed in but shifting still sounds clunky on the bike stand and the chain itself sounds very noisy and doesn't feel like the crank spins super smooth. Is this something anyone's experienced when indexing with a brand new/waxed chain?
I'm completely new to waxing, so is it possible this is just normal for a waxed chain, or would you all look elsewhere?
Thinking it might be good to just ride the bike with the chain til it breaks in then get the indexing dialed in after that.

Turns out I'm just dumb and the b limit screw was all the way in lol. Turned it all the way out as shimano manual says and gained all the room. Should be able to use a Shimano ot-rs900 housing from the double ended ferrule to the barrel adjuster now with no problem.  Still an incredibly tight bend but apparently thats just how it is with some bikes now. Hopefully shifting performance isn't too terrible with this set up. I see why so many people go Di2/electronic now  ;D

I am not sure but when it is under tension, bend is less agressive like the picture.
That's the old model that comes out the drive side and is using a direct mount hangar I think. The 2025 evo+ cable comes right out the back of the chainstay. Elves didn't send a direct mount either, just two standard mounts. I've emailed them about it already but no response yet. Was just wondering if anyone had any ideas. Honestly wondering if this new frame was meant to only be used with electronic shifting.

I'm a complete noob to building bikes so I could just be doing something really dumb and any info would be much appreciated. Started the build on the 2025 Elves falath evo+ and ran into a little problem. Rear derailleur cable housing runs straight out the back of the chain stay. Was only given standard derailleur hangars with the bike and I'm wanting to use a Shimano 105 r7100 2x12 rear derailleur with the Jagwire pro cable kit. However when I installed it, the distance from the cable exit to the barrel adjuster is so close that the bend in the cable creates a ton of extra friction. Do I need to use a direct mount hangar or what can I do to alleviate this (if I actually installed it correctly and didn't just make a mistake lol)
Thanks

I would confirm this with Rotor, but I believe you would need a 30mm T47 BB, and Rotor chainrings. The chain and cassette you ordered will work fine. I would also get a spacer kit with 0.5 and 1mm spacers.
Yeah seems you're correct. As far as I can tell, the only way is to use rotor chainrings, unless I found an adapter for rotor crank to shimano gears, would be $400 shipped for the crank+gearset. Guess that would leave me the option to return or resell the 105 crankset, but at the same time i've been reading that rotor shifting isnt nearly as good as shimano, not that I shift up front that often anyway so it probably doesnt matter that much.
Also I really cant find all that much information on the inpower performance.

At that price point probably just best to wait and see if I can pick up a set of favero pedals during a black friday sale

This is probably not going to be a popular opinion on this forum, but I would buy a used Quarq.  I have had two Chinese power meters, one stopped reading cadence (no power without cadence) and the other broke during a rainy 600k.  The Magene seems to have good reviews and seems like an overall solid product, but I have 3 Quarqs, and I purchased each one used for less than the price of a new Magene.  Between my Quarqs, I have over 20,000 miles and have had zero issues.  2 of them are currently on T47x85.5 bikes-- no issues there either.
Yeah getting something non chinese QC'd and supported for electronics is probably the most reliable long term, but the price and huge user base of the magene is super attractive for a first time power meter user.

@Sakizashi thats a killer deal! thanks for sharing. Although maybe you can help me with this... I'm mechanically inclined but when it comes to bikes I've been having to do a ton of research regarding what fits what, what components can work together etc, as there seems to be a vast difference of standards between brands lol.
So correct me if Im wrong.
I have a shimano 105 r7100 52/36 crankset being shipped to my house currently that I got from aliex for $120. (which is why I was looking at left sided shimano crank arms originally) To use the rotor brand, Id need to get a 30mm t47 bb for my frame instead of the t47 24mm that I currently had ordered with it? + a different spider to support the shimano gears I already have? Or just go full rotor gears as well? The only reason I was wanting to keep shimano gears was simply because I ordered an 8100 series cassette/chain for hyperglide+ ability (not sure if its worth the extra or not but figured I'd try it) and wasn't sure If a different crankset would affect that, but as far as I can tell HG+ is only at the rear.

As title states, looking for input on power meters and long term user experience for a two brands.
I originally didn't want anything too crazy (<$300) as this will be my first power meter apart from using a wahoo kickr during winter/spring. So I've been looking at a few china options but have also considered mid tier options as well.

Magene P505 - $233 shipped is my #1 choice, but the bike frame i've ordered (elves falath evo+) has a t47 bb and magene states the p505 is not compatible with t47, however thru searches on here and various forums ive seen some have been able to install the p505 on t47 bb. I believe the evo+ will have an internal 85.5mm from what I can figure. If anyone has has success/experience installing one on a t47bb let me know!

Xcadey left side power meter - $190 shipped- https://www.aliexpress.us/item/2251832812903949.html
Looks like it would be a good fit, no worries about compatibility with the Shimano 105 2x12 i ordered. However I can't find much long term user reviews on this. My main worry here is waterproofing and failure after long term exposure to elements. I've read some comments in discussions from 2+ years ago on various yt videos, forums etc stating that once exposed to rain they fail but I cant tell if these are the old version or current version offered on aliex.

Other options: Favero mx-1 PM medals (I prefer spd mtb shoes for road biking) on a black friday sale (if there is one) - price would probably be around 350-400 on sale as far as I can tell from previous BF sales. This would be a buy once cry once option.

I know there are a few other brands of left side PM such as 4iiii, stage (out of business so no support), wondering if I'm missing any good quality options for a budget PM. Or if there are any new PM coming from these brands that would potentially make older models decline in price next spring, as I dont necessarily NEED a PM right this instant. All insight welcome, Thanks!

Serge is correct that the smartest choice is to buy an unbranded carbon frame straight from the manufacturer. Personally I took advantage of Winspace’s massive black Friday deals last year on a T1550 gen 1, and I am in love with it. I dont care about the resell argument at all since I plan to ride this bike for a very long time. Plus with Winspace you can just use your card and not have to deal with paypal/(feels mega sketchy to me) bank transfers. So I vote you get a Winspace! But I am biased
Thanks everyone for the feedback, I agree that the extra $ for the branding probably isn't worth it, other than slightly better customer service and more reviews. Although I really dont plan on reselling either unless the bike doesnt fit (still a newbie when it comes to fit, but using bikeinsights to compare dimensions). Ill take a look into speeder, serge. And Macedingle, if you dont mind me asking, how much did you pay for the t1550 frame during black friday?

Well about four weeks ago, I lost my long loved (and abused) Trek Emonda sl6 to a gnarly chain drop due to my negligence. Lost about 7-8 layers of cf near the BB and could probably poke a hole through it if I tried lol. Anyway, toyed with the idea of fixing it myself with a shotty DIY kit (only thing cost effective alternative of buying legit materials), having it professionally repaired or simply getting a new bike. Decided to go with the later, but keep the Emonda on the wahoo and maybe DIY patch it.
I've since started pulling the trigger on a few parts and am now looking for a road bike disc frame. Trying to keep the total build around $2500 total. Have everything but the frame, handlebars, BB, tires, rotors/pads. Currently in it for a total of $1140.
My riding these days typically consist of solo 20-40 miles with approximately 1000-2500 feet of elevation gain.
Been lurking these forums/reddit/youtube for the past week and have narrowed it down to a few choices.

Elves Falath EVO+ - seems like a decent brand with above average china customer service, slightly overpriced for what it is though - some people love it and say the product is great, some say its a fad driven by youtubers - My dilemma with this one is only the Evo is reviewed and it seems that Elves addressed some of the negative feedback with the evo+? at $1210 for the frame+bars I'm not sure it would be worth the small price difference of a nicer frame like the winspace 1550 or 2nd hand frame from a big brand.

Light carbon R017D - this one I was quoted at $730 total. Seems like decent geometry for how I ride and the price is right, but my dilemma with this one is all the negatives I've seen about the quality recently. I know most of these frames coming from china (and even some big brands) are hit or miss but not sure if the potential headache of dealing with a qc mishap is worth the lower price.

Winspace 1550 1st or 2nd gen - I think this one would be a great choice from everything I've seen/read about them, but the price puts me well over the $2500 budget. Unless they offer some killer Black Friday deals, which then I would hold out on buying one if its similarly priced to the Evo+

2nd hand big name frame - my last resort choice which might be the best choice, but could also come with some major headaches if I cant find one local and inspect it myself prior to purchase.

Anyhoo, just wondering if I've overlooked any notable frames/distributors producing quality road frames below $1200 shipped. Or if anyone has recent first hand experience with these brands or has insight to any black friday sales that would be worth waiting for. Thanks!
