How is 56 working for you? Actually I think you could also easily fit on 58
What size would you get for 186 cm 88 cm inserm ? 56 or 58 ?
I tried my best, I have 90mm power, a difference in height between handlebars and saddles of only 6cm, I was still very stretched on the bike.
I take this opportunity to announce that I sell a Tantan X68 size 56 with only 2000 km at a good price.
They don’t. As with many things bike related, more expensive usually just means lighter. Not more durable. I agree that saving weight doesn’t really make any sense with chains. Just like with disc rotors IMO (unless you rarely ever need to brake).
But there are differences IME. I’m only talking about 11 and 12sp here. I haven’t tried YBN. But I have found Sram chains to wear the quickest. KMC are good value for money. Shimano are solid. But Campy chains outlast everything IME. I’m close to 10k on a Chorus 12sp chain and it just does not seem to wear all that much. It also works very well with hot wax. I’ve found that with the surface coating of some other chains, the wax does not seem to stick very well and they get noisy very quickly.
I saw it in Vivian's Status on WhatsApp and was wondering why showing an incomplete build there for promotion? Strange they haven't used my exploded fork for promo, its almost an incomplete build
Joking aside, it's three weeks since my last conversation with them. Looking forward to a new fork, but so far no sign of them. @TanTan Would be nice shipping out the replacement fork incl. the expander soon
Did you order the frame in one of the colors that were available for selection other than a basic black? Or did you order a special colour?
I am asking because I ordered a prebuilt bike in (pearl) white which is a colour you can directly choose but got hit with nearly the exact same message as you did as well.
Well, this is exactly what happens when dealing directly with these Chinese factories. Honestly, I think it’s to be expected when buying these frames — it often seems like only two or three people are handling sales, probably against a mountain of enquiries and emails every day.
That said, I think this is one of, if not the most popular frame they offer, so it's pretty clear they’re struggling to keep up with the demand.
Still, they’d be so much better off just telling the truth upfront. I’ll never understand why they don’t. Managing expectations would go a long way in keeping people on-side.
WTF? Pretty interesting how they try to wriggle out of a situation... The fork was already inspected by the guys where I will do the CT Scan of the frame. Their findings were more than clear on human-made mistake or production failure. They said this happens to forks of framesets in much higher price-ranges as well, so for me thats "ok". However, telling the story of me not being able to handle/ride that bike the right way sucks. I also offered them to take a look at the fork and investigate from their side, but it seems their not interested.
They can be happy to have a customer-oriented sales represantive as Vivian, but the guys behind the scene ... meh.
For the X68 seatpost hardware weight:
• Carbon cradle: 12g
• Saddle yokes/clamps x2 No: 10g
• Two M5 Ti bolts (30 and 35mm): approx 4g
• Original barrel nut: 1g
Total: 27g
My friend measured a conti gp5000 30C at 32mm on that 33 wide rim. Which is why i chose 30C on 33 rim, in fact, for the rule of 105. For a heavy rider, aka, me, at the back i'd put 32C though. The 3 friends i ordered these rims for are all light enough that i did 30C front and back.
I read on bicycle rolling resistance that these michelin tyres aren't meant for wide rims, because the thread pattern that's meant to be rolled on is very narrow. But last time i checked i feel like the widest they made was 28C, so this might have changed. But it's because of that that i never bought them. I'm french, i'm curious how they compare w GP5000, given the rolling resistance tests pretty much the same and they're usually a tad cheaper.
Great, ill probably go for those then. 30mm would probably be better aero, but i think i rather take the comfort.
Bought T1100 50mm with CX Ray spokes, ended up at 1275gr for the pair. Quite nice.
Will be fun to compare D50CU-33 with GP5000 S TR 32c vs Elite edge gravel 45mm deep with Caracal Race. Both great tires, but this wheel setup will be over 200gr lighter per wheel. The elite ones weight 1380gr without tires.
