Maintenance, Mechanics, & Tools / Re: Bad threads on frame
« on: April 30, 2025, 12:31:16 PM »
It was terrible before and tried to screw in the axle. So it have likely gotten worse. I do maybe believe that a light retread and an original pin will do it.

Apexstorm is the seller and he have been responsive and offered a new thru axle and bottle cages. But I just want the bike on the road.

and I do know the risk buying a replica, but still hurts the soul

Maintenance, Mechanics, & Tools / Bad threads on frame
« on: April 30, 2025, 11:03:10 AM »
Hi guys,

I received a frame with terrible rear axel threads and the back pin won't even go in. I am afraid of ruining the frame and have also ordered an original thru axel.

Is it any chance I can save the frame and fix the threads here? And is it easy or should I try to find a mechanic that can help me out?

Pictures attached.

Any help is really appreciated!

Sorry where is everyone buying there frames from?
The original link BeR posted well the store shows nothing on it available so obviously closed down.
Messaged Tan Tan and they said that they manufacture there frame
So

Yoho Bike?

I just paid for a frame on the store originally linked in the first post here yesterday. Thankfully through AliExpress, so if it turns out to be a scam I am sorta protected.

Looking forward to getting it!

I can't work out how the maths works out there.

Carbon spokes are c.2.6g and pillar aero are c.4.5g.

With 20h vs 24h there should be at least 90-100g difference?

I don’t know tbh. But I think I have found out it’s not even worth going carbon spokes. Easier to maintain the alu spokes I guess

So I have gotten two offers from Peter:

1275g - 58mm rare and 50front
D50CU-28 T1100 rims 24/24H UD paintless, in-house hubs 36T rachets enduro steel bearings center lock straight pull for 100*12/142*12 with Shimano HG driver, Pillar 1420 spokes, Pillar aluminum nipples

1221g and 58rare and 50front:
D50CU-28 T1100 rims 21/21H UD paintless, In-house black or titanium color hubs 21/21H side entry hubs for carbon spokes 54T rachets TPI ceramic bearings center lock straight pull for 100*12/142*12 with Shimano HG driver, carbon spokes with nipples

Any changes I should consider and is it worth going Carbon spokes vs Pillar 1420 spokes?

Road Bike Frames, Wheels & Components / Re: Best aero or budget frame

you need to decide if you want an aero frame or an 'aero' frame. Because despite what they may be branded as, most low cost chinese aero frames may look vaguely like an aero frame when they are anything but. Same as when they brand a 950g frame as 'lightweight'

So it won’t be possible to get a real Aeroframe for that budget? Would a allrounder like SL8 maybe be a better bet then?

Yeah the Specialized fitting calculator can’t be accurate. I am 183.9 with a 89,5 inseam and it wants me to go size 61. The biggest size they got lol

Road Bike Frames, Wheels & Components / Best aero or budget frame
« on: February 13, 2025, 09:28:10 AM »
Hi everyone,

I am trying to navigate in a jungle of frames and as a newbie within the cycling world and the Chinese market it’s getting overwhelming.

I am on the lookout for an aero frame first and foremost and have been chiming in on the Factor Ostro Vam thread that has been going. But 60 day delivery from a unknown seller has me a bit skeptical.

I do love the Factor frame and some of it paint jobs. I am also been looking at a Hygge frame.

So I am looking for help to point me in the right direction for an awesome aero frame or even just and awesome overall frame.

My key points for choosing a frame is the following:
- Budget between 400-1000 USD including DPD shipping
- Aero frame
- From a semi reputable seller
- As high quality as I possible could get for the money.

I have already gotten a sweet deal with Peter on a wheelset - D50CU-28 T1100 and D58CU-28 rear wheel with carbon spokes and ceramic bearing for 830 USD included DPD shipping.

And it will be paired with a Ultegra Di2 with a 4iiii power meter krank.

Thanks in advance for the possible help!  ;D

Yeah I am wondering if I am better off finding something else.

I just wanted a good and cheap Aero frame with good finish as cheap as possible. Is that to much to ask for?

So I just spoke to F-C.

60 days delivery time on 2.0, price will be 7000RMB and promised to be same quality as 1.0.

He said AliExpress delivery and logistics when asked about DPD delivery..

Also added som pictures he sent me

For what its worth, i received a message from RK, they mentioned they are opening store again in March.

Well that’s a good way to get customers

How deep of a wheel?

I'm a big fan of carbon spoked wheels and for just all around riding 50-60mm depth. 28+mm external width.

Go zone makes a nice wheel as well.  And Superteam is a great value.

I have experience with all three.  All have been good for me. All are somewhat similar.

Was aiming for 50-60mm and somewhere in the range of 500-700$
