When it's not broken and assuming you can get it for cheap, the ER9 is great.
What you consider "budget" is debatable though.
You can build a mechanical bike for hundreds less. If you get mechanical disc brakes you can even get Shimano  second hand for peanuts and have bomb proof shifting.
Electronic gears are nice, but a perfectly tuned mechanical bike is also good, and much more resilient.

Shimano mechanical has bomb proof shifting up until the shifters decide they're hungry for your cables-not ideal for internal routing, especially without end to end cable housing.

ETA, UDH is awesome for Shimano as well-Ali is full of low cost direct mount hangers in many different axle thread pitches.

You'll ride more and troubleshoot less with 105 Di2/Rival.

Hi guys,

I just finished a build with this frame and am left with quite a gap below the bottom spacer and frame. Peter said someone here may know what's up. Does anyone know what I may have done wrong or if there is a fix for this?

Looks great-what width are the Pirellis?

Since you're using Shimano, you can get a bit crisper shifting and save a little weight with a direct mount UDH hanger-I got this one with the 1.0mm thread pitch and the fit was perfect.

D2C purchases still benefit brick-n-mortar stores. I know many cyclists will just bring their bikes in to be assembled and/or retrofitted with new parts. In fact getting parts first by the consumer might be a better avenue for the bike shops, because ordering through  "official" channels can sometimes take a long period of time. My buddy finally got his retrofitted road bike completed after 3 months in the shop. He had to wait while his "domestic" wheelset were being built and shipped...from CHINA!  ::) ;D

Back when I managed a chain bike store that was taken over by Performance before their rightful demise, I had to tell a customer that no, we couldn't handle warranty fulfillment for his broken Shimano crank purchased mail order from a 3rd party.  Aside from occasional swag and entertainment, this seems to be the only possible advantage for a retailer to buy product through the official distribution chain instead of gray market OEM.

Come to think of it, maybe having your own Ali sourced and private labeled, way overpriced carbon frameset seems like a good workaround to get legit OEM product for resale.

Is this the same congress person who's husband was indicted on theft and conspiracy charges? That tells me all I need to know when it comes to bad apples.

Distributors like ASI and QBP add a lot of empty calorie costs to brick and mortar bike stores-typically their "wholesale" groupset pricing is right around or sometimes even higher than grey market OEM pricing available D2C.

A piece of PVC pipe with OD close to the cup diameter might work better than a wooden block.

Some new IIIPro floating CL/6-bolt disc rotors. The weight seems reasonable and the rotor pattern looks like it should brake well.

Looks very Campagnolo inspired which isn't at all a bad thing.

These have nothing to do with that-they're powermeter spindles from Garmin without the pedal bodies.

So they should be a drop in fit for Shimano SPD-SL pedal bodies?

Hopefully DC Rainmaker does a test.

I've had these for a few months and been happy with them.

If they actually have stock in common sizes for delivery to the US, their pricing is very competitive compared to Canyon that, unfortunately for a legacy West German based company, has an East German Trabant like fulfillment program for US customers .

Ordered some choice items on Monday, they're supposedly landed in the US and at the linehaul station today.

Maybe long term we'll have a third country routing option to dodge tariffs like the Eurosphere.

My Choice items from the 17th were delivered to the US East Coast on the 23rd.

I think it’s just the mark up that bothers me. Also, the veteran owned business… bla bla.. 16 years acting duty here. Then offering a discount, you could just from China without decals for much less. No holy war, more or less wanted to validate my thoughts.
Only four years myself ending in the early 90s, but applied online for VA healthcare benefits on a whim and was approved (with copays).

For doing the whole vet owned schtick, their vet bro energy is super low.

I could too, see guys riding around with their wheels feeling proud. I just don’t think they know, the same wheels are available for half the cost on eBay. The funny part is, these guys would clown on a person using Chinese “junk”. Classic!!

For what their carbon wheelsets cost, you could get much nicer November wheels.

I have a feeling that the website has not been updated since 2007.

But hey, it could be worse, just look at Amazon website.

With that said, they're definitely using Chinese frames, but overall value doesn't seem terrible.

Ok, nevermind, the value is absolutely terrible. I thought it was 2700 USD for complete bike build with Force AXS, not 5k.

I could qualify for their not all that great military discount but would have much better  mil discount options with Canyon, Intense, and several other far more legitimate brands.
