Frame has shipped! Will be here tomorrow. I also got one of the cheap spare rear triangles that are up on eBay, just as insurance.

Going to start a build thread when the frame arrives.

Any news on the build thread? Did I miss it?

+1 on the endorsement of the 1001. I built one for my wife last March and she is very happy with it. Just watch out, the reach numbers are a bit on the shorter side for a given size, so maybe size up if unsure. My wife rides a size M and is 170cm. Feels right at home on it.

Thanks Zilcho!

Would you mind posting a photo of your bike? I'm planning my build and an looking for inspiration :-D.

I'm currently leaning towards a gloss black build with silver accents. Manitou R8 fork,  Mara pro shock, possibly a GX Transmission derailleur, alternatively XTR. Hayes A4/A2 brakes. Self build wheels with 30mm ID carbon rims and silver dt swiss hubs.

Unfortunately it seems a silver headset top cap will be hard to come by for this particular frame.

On the German MTB forum more people are using the 909 for marathon-type riding and 936 for more trail oriented riding. Though there were some voices more recently saying that the difference may be smaller than initially made out to be.

I am leaning towards a 909 because I prefer the shock placement, cable routing, 2 bottle holders, and I don't like the looks of the seat mast in size XL on the 936.

Do you also offer the motor and battery, or will people need to source that separately?

For the seat post - Elita 1 again - pretty cheap and light.

If you want to save $ on the group, I would buy a nicer shifter and a cheaper derailleur, as the shifter determines the shift quality more.

Hi,

nice report! I was wondering what made you choose this particular frame, compared to brands with similar offerings that you know already (e.g., Carbonda 936 or 909)?

Cheers

Love it! I recently built a Carbonda FM1001 for my wife. Your daughter is lucky!

If it's not too big for her: the Elita1 Specialized Power clone is an amazing deal. <120g for the saddle, padded, costs about $20-25. I also had good luck with Toseek carbon handlebars.

+1 on the suggestion to have it painted by Carbonda. I have had good experience with it. The color scheme I had them do wasn't super simple, and cost $245 ($155 painting, $90 for decals). If you want to see the design, it's further up the thread

Thank you! The pro 3 is what I had in mind, but hadn't seen it on aliexpress.

But damper on R232 is probably too simple for this kind of bike, no?

Nor sure, why? My wife is 57kg ang not super aggressive.

By luck, I seem to have hit it well then with the R232 shock from DT Swiss, which they say has a progressive curve.

Thanks, make a lot of sense.

Sidebar: I enjoy enduro-mtb as a mag - nice pictures, etc. But boy, do they over-focus on little details and cut short the discussion on more substantive topics. Like that they find the handlebar too wide (cut it down, that's personal preference), or their always recurring point on casings...
