Which airwolf is 786g?

Hi Ed.
I checked Aliexpress and I ordered it in early 2021 and the product listing doesn't exist so cannot confirm the model. Looking at the frame shape, the closest current Airwolf frame looks to be <thishttps://vi.aliexpress.com/item/1005006444464992.html?pdp_npi=4%40dis%21GBP%21%EF%BF%A1373.07%21%EF%BF%A1260.31%21%21%21445.72%21311.00%21%40211b612517366096725452063e9cc0%2112000037190871419%21sh%21UK%210%21X&spm=a2g0o.store_pc_allItems_or_groupList.new_all_items_2007585985325.1005006444464992&gatewayAdapt=glo2vnm#nav-specification> one which I cannot see a model number. Much heavier than mine was though.

I’d love to hear what you all think of my choice. I’m also curious if any of you recognize the geometry or shape of this frame and might know if this mold is also used by other European brands.

Thank you very much in advance for any help and feedback!

Lovely bike! I am a fan of lightweight hardtails personally and this is sexy :-D

The mould looks similar to Trek Procaliber or Scott Scale 930 but to be fair, new bikes nowadays lack personality imo.

29er / Re: Generic carbon fork by various manufacturers / brands
« on: December 11, 2024, 02:57:40 AM »
I've bought a couple carbon forks in the past from Ali. All needed their disc brake mounts to be faced but I work in a bike-shop and have access to the tools to fix this. I thin koverall quality was low, particularly on my Trifox one but it was light. Another no-name one split randomly along the steerer whilst running less torque than seller recommended. However, once setup, they all worked fine in my opinion. I'd double check facing of the brake mounts and possibly expect to very gently sand down the base of the steerer tube as these are often not even or smooth as you' d expect.

Currently I have a Selcof 29er carbon fork but the A2C is too much but i adjusted using a different stem. I am currently enquiring about getting a Massi carbon fork. 480mm A2C is perfect for me, it is light and looks good but the price is quite different from AliX specials.

Thanks, at that price it seems silly not to try them.
The Zeray pedals imo are akin to ElitaOne in terms of these pedals are now my go-to lightweight budget option. They do weight about 280g as advertised and mine have help up well. I have used one set for 6 years and about 60,000. Mine devleloped play kinda quick but never got any worse so i never replaced them. Bearings also never serviced and still feel good. I ride everyday in the UK.

Component Deals & Selection / Re: 3D Printed Saddles

I took the plunge on the Ryet Aircode in white. Felt good to the hand and looked well made. I really like the wider nose it has which is a complaint of other riders due to it wearings out their bibs quickly. I've not had that problem yet. It is still early days but I've done 800km of riding and 16,000m of climbing which is about 55-60h of riding and one day was a 10h ride. I think the saddle is great. On my 10h ride, it was my bibs that were the weak link but I rarely ride that far in one stint. I do have more long rides next year, another 10h and one 20h ride so I expect my feedback after that will also be very telling! So far the saddle is holding its shape and cushioning very nicely so happy with my purchase and have another on my Christmas list :D

Those are the same braided hose Hope and Trickstuff use for their brakes :D.
They are pretty amazing for the price. There is plenty of power and the build quality is top notch, nicest brake I ever used.
I got mine on Lewis's official shop on Taobao using an intermediary service called Superbuy and I spent like $270 in total with shipping but if I have an issue with them, I'm pretty much on my own though.
My bike was stolen in January and i ordered a set again but for the new bike i'm currently building.
Lewis also sell a cheaper versions of vertical brakes called CL2V (2 pistons) and CL4V (for pistons) but only in China as far as i know. Those are actual copies of the Piccola with the alu levers and prices are $164 for the CL2V and $192 for the CL4V on Taobao ;D.

I never got the Lewis Brakes. I did try the IIIPRO versions of these and they were a big disappointment from the feel to the amount of braking force. Bled them a few times but passed them on for free in the end. I used them on a weight weenie build and they looked sexy, too.

Are those prices you quoted per brake of for each set? F+R?

thanks JAKE

And considering that even some genuine ones snap(ped) at the clamp ...
(In addition to the counterfeit branding cringe)

I'd prefer a non-branded one but had been using a 90mm one of those stems for a while. Super light as expected. Quality? Well my sample of 1 is actually decent. Not had issues with torquing it up or signs of fatigue. Whenever something light, even from a reputable brand, is being sold, the mechanical restraints will be lower with less material so not surprised to hear genuine ones have had issues. I have now swapped it for another tem but that was just to reduce my reach a bit and find I prefer my new position. The reviews on the IX2AL ripoffs are very mixed so seemingly I got a good one.

If you go with those Senicx cranks, you need either SRAM direct mount chainrings or a SRAM direct mount 2x spider. Search that and there are lots of options. It is not a Cannondale Hollowgram interface as previously suggested.

Ok good to know. The weight is similar to one of the links in my post. I guess those are the lightest on Aliexpress at 105 grams for 100mm. The ones on Fairwheel bikes and couple others are 98 grams with steel bolts. No big deal but there is some difference. Fairwheel sells them for $50 so that's a hefty surcharge.
Those stems have crept up a bit in price but still offer great price/weight value. I recently got a couple of those Darimo IX2AL stem dupes and been impressed. 90mm stem was 67g and has held up well on my MTB this year. I still rock the Kalloy stems when trying new positions before spending out on something which may not be good. My 90mm Kalloy uno with steel bolts was 102g fyi.

I have a T47 77mm BB from ZTTO and it has been great (so far) has only done a few thousand kilometres. Install was very easy. Bearings actually seem decent.

I have gone through two of these as of late. I need to do more diagnosis because my ZTTO 30mm>24mm BB worked greated for thousands of miles. They are dirt cheap though. The problem I have is using my Cannondale Hollogram SL2 crankset into a T47 30mm BB. Both BBs work okay initially but after a short while begin making endless cracking noises like the bearings are completely shot. Recently bit the bullet for a WheelsMFG BB of the same kind and after the same mileage doesn't have any of the same issues as the same ZTTO variant. So whilst I am not sure of the cause, it seems to be related to the ZTTO BB and not my setup. Overall, I'd still fit a ZTTO one if needed due to how cheap and easily available they are to the UK from AliX.

i have a full carbon saddle with 3d printed top from Racework. The carbon shell cracked. I'm still riding it because i can't feel it when i'm riding but... it's cracked. Generally i dont recommend getting racework products. Road use only. Idk when and how it broke.
Not sure if ryet is the same model or not, but i m pretty sure many of these "brands" just slap their logos on things, and they probably come from an OEM or 2.
I like the saddle though so i'd probably buy the same design, from a different seller.

Pretty sure Ryet is the same design. I recently got one and found it very pleasant. Only ridden it for a few days so opinion is very fresh. Feels well built except the 3D part. Feels like that will peel off but time will tell. Reports of othe rusers here say they wore their bib shorts early due to a wide nose. I have not noticed additional wear yet but that wide nose is very comfortable as is the whole saddle. I was previously using a Tune Speedneedle for over 30,000kms and this was a step up in comfort even though the speedneedle fit me really well.

I had similar issues. Bled mine multiple times after different ride intervals and they'd always start losing power to the point they were not functional. I don't know what options there are for a build kit but I replaced the brakes and maybe one day will look at servicing them again. I thought I had an issue because lots of riders sang their praises on these brakes but mine were always really weak. I'll stick with Shimano for now.

Component Deals & Selection / Re: Chinese Raining Jacket
« on: September 28, 2024, 04:24:17 AM »
I get super hot when riding so using waterproofs is always a hard one. For me, waterproofs are reserved for cold rainy adys where the extra layers keep warmth in. I also make sure I use base layers because getting hot in waterproofs is extremely uncomfortable when the wet jacket / trousers stick to you. I tried chiner stuff, was all crap and terribly ventilated. I prefer to use a soft-shell jacket when it is raining as it keeps me warm and pretty dry unless its a long ride and you don't get that sticky feeling in my experience.

In my experience, the ones on Ali/amazon are not great. I wouldn't mind a reduction in video quality if the stabilisation was good but that is what sets apart the expensive cameras. If you just want footage and thats it, then try one but in my opinon they're not great and especially when mounted to the bars vibrate like mad even on road. I use an insta360 because its good good stabilisation and the fact you can look around the footage when done is great. Pricey little thing though.

I got some of that EZMTB braided hose on my XTR brakes. Arrived quick, looks good on my bike and works great. I had damaged my rear line so thought I may as well do both brakes plus the braided look is much more appealing to my eye. I also recommend the EZMTB bleed kit, comes with loads of attachments and is quality. I use it in my own bike workshop.
