Here it is

Can confirm mine looked like that also, shouldve been faced but wasnt worried about it. the paint has flaked where the bolt head sits but is only noticeable when the thru axle is removed.

Hey guys,

For the front thru-axle, I feel like the one that came with my frame might not be correct. Its the right size but the I'm not sure about the where the bolt head contacts the fork.

Basically it sits flush on the outside of the fork, directly on the carbon. However, it has grip serrations on the bottom of it so if you twist it in it basically grinds the paint off and maybe eventually the carbon? Is this correct or should I ask/buy a different thru axle.

Have you got a photo?

sorry to derail this thread, if anyone has info on these frames or has built it up, I'd also be interested to see how it goes.

I do Not think you necessarily put your life at risk,
There might be lower quality but my issue would be that it’s not economical or ecological if you have to throw the bike in the trash if you can’t get parts for it easily.
(Personal preference of course as I am also dependent on the manufacturer for the fork when it comes to the Chinese carbon frame I’ll receive next month. But yeah. I just wanted to point this out. I also have an aeroad and the fact that you can’t exchange parts on the cockpits drives me nuts sometimes. But Canyon will probably still be around if i really need replacements …)

So your issue is more around proprietary parts rather than the patent infringment?

Do you think it’s a good idea to get a frame with proprietary parts from a seller that probably infringes patents?

this whole forum is pretty much dedicated to this.

Hey so this is my first time posting on this forum and I don't quite know how this works but I'll give it a shot. I bought a VBR 177 and I'm currently in the middle of building it up with a sram force etap axs group.

But for the life of me i cant figure out what the right bottom bracket is. I ordered the sram dub bb86 and installed normal sized cranks but they are rubbing on the frame. When I look at the wide variations they all look the same. Does anyone know what the right BB for SRAM groupsets on this frame is? I would appreciate any help i get, its also my first time building a bike so thanks all for all the help so far!

did you put the spacer on as well?

Allright, my replacement fork finally arrived and looks fine, going to start building the bike over the next few days. Does anyone have a list of how torque specs for the handlebars, seatpost, etc?

The handlebars have this grippy bit to attach the levers, but it doesn't reach high enough, I guess I'll just put some carbon paste (and maybe even a soda can shim) a bit higher. has anyone had the same issue?

Vashond has a google sheet with torque settings in this thread. Good luck with the build!

I'm going to build my 168 with a SRAM Force AXS groupset, with a DUB crankset. What kind of bottom bracket would you choose? I was leaning towards the official Sram BB86 DUB BB, but I'm worried about the durability. Maybe I should go for a more premium BB, like Kogel, C-Bear or Ceramic Speed? What do you think?

using the SRAM BB86 DUB BB for the last 3 months, haven't had any issues so far.

My build is done. I did a shakedown ride of around 45k. No issues like seatpost slippage or headset play. Everything works fine. Shifting is also smooth despite the full internal routing. The frame is surprisingly comfy. The bars are really nice as well. The shape works very well for me. Fit is not dialed in yet 100%. Saddle position not yet right. But it's great.

Final build as pictured with pedals, cages and garmin mount weighs 7.65kg. I'm pretty happy with that.
More pics and a full review once I got a few more Ks with this bike.

nice one, that colour is awesome!

6 month Update: So after 2000km of riding, bike rides very well. I have ridden down some descents at 65kph+ and no issues with stability, the only reason why I dont go faster is because I'm a coward hahaha. The only negative is some paint on the front fork thru axle has like flaked away when the through axle sits against but you can only see it when the thru axle bolt is taken out.

Do you prefer the Dogma or the Venge?

100% After installing a pressfit BB in my new 168 frame I had to hammer it out only two days after because I accidentally disconnected some wires. Threaded pressfit BB's after that!

was struggling to find a threaded dub bb that worked, to be fair i looked for about 3 minutes before i ordered the sram pressfit bb lol

Anyone else freak out when having to remove a pressfit bb? just took mine out and installed a dub BB so SRAMANO is no more. So nerve wracking hitting a bb out of the frame lol.
