I think the chance that they're both doing the same steerer as the original product, including the kevlar braid, but from two different factories, is close to zero.

They're almost certainly using the same factory for the fork at the very least.  Frame may indeed be different factories. I think this is the same 'Taiwanese' (probably nothing to do with Taiwan at this point) clone seller with loads of shopfronts on AliExpress. The quality of their frames is usually significantly higher than TanTan.

Just curious if you have actually compared the two side by side ?

Seraph offers gravel bikes prebuilt with wheeltop from $900 on aliexpress, crazy!

Priced went up, and the shipping is alot more...

Got my D50CU-28 T1100 in the Mail. Wheels look great, packaging is very good and overall quality seems to match expectations.

One caveat are the actual rim measurments. Actual measurments are 22mm internal and 29mm external instead of 21.4mm internal, 29,2mm external.
With the wider internal and narrower external width a 28mm gp5000 s tr measures 29mm and sits flush with the rim profile, so no rule of 105% to achieve here, if your don't want to have a 25mm tyre, which most of us certainly will not want. So in some way the rim profile is neither here nor there, neither fit for narrow nor really fit for wide tyres. I will get on with it, but this difference to the advertised measurments is the worst difference you can have in a rim profile. Both rims measure the same btw, so i don't think this is a unit variation problem.

Measurements done with a digital caliper and at multiple locations.

I don't think it's going to make much of a difference but it's always good to know and feedback. :-) I think it's sort of expected if you buy parts from China although I think Peter held himself to a different standard.

I order a 52mm headset bearing once and the seller send me a 51mm, and claim that it was variance due to manufacturing... that was a WTF moment since all the bearings I had bought previously was precise to 0.1mm.

Anyway, looking forward to the rims from Peter. Still thinking about the Frameset though...

I agree on pricing. If you’re patient, you can get pretty sweet framesets with warranty and resale value for that kind of money. Bike24 currently sell Supersix EVO Hi Mod framesets and BMC Roadmachine framesets for less than that. They’re both not for me geometry wise. But it shows what kind of competition these run against at that price point. I’ve seen Giant TCR and Propel frames go for around 1500-1800EUR there as well. And if something’s wrong I could literally walk into their store as it’s close to me. No way I’d take that kind of leap of faith on an unproven Chiner frame. Warranty or not.
I do rate Hongfu however. I bought accessories like seatposts and handlebars directly from them quite a few years back. Nothing but solid.

Even 6 months or 1 year old Winspace, Seka and Pardus has limited resale values at less than 1/3 the original prices. I've no doubt that its a decent frame but if I'm paying that kind of money, it better be really good with residue values.

This thing's price gets you some pretty serious used hardware. TCL SLs, Ultimate CF SLXs etc. With actual resale and some semblance of warranty support.

Do wish they are monitoring this web forum. Frame looks nice but no way I would pay more than $800 for it...

Road Bike Frames, Wheels & Components / Frame recommendation - 5 ft 6
« on: December 27, 2024, 11:42:48 AM »
I'm 5 ft 6 and in my mid 50s and lot less flexible being stuck on the desk till the last two years. Barely touch my knees. I'm looking at something light with a higher stack and shorter reach, any recommendations?

Only reason I opted for UD glossy is that my last SPCycle frameset had so-so paint. My other UD glossy frameset seemed to fare better from regular ride wear. I attached a photo they sent me with the frame on the scale.

Anybody has any feedbacks about this ? Seems lighter than TT-X68 ..

8
The frame we are speaking of is the TT-X69.

OK, Thanks. I thought I read TT-X69 was 840gm, guess I was mistaken.

9
LC at 870g, TanTan at 1096g. The TT-X68 is 836g.

Isn't TanTan = TT-X68 ? Do I have to specifically mention the weight or is it assumed ?

10
The Light carbon frame is still 250g lighter if that matters to you xD.

As for the price, I found TanTan and Light carbon to be in the same ballpark, maybe I get too expensive offers from TanTan xD

Is it ? I thought TanTan was lighter at 840gm

Now that is crappy, they literally just glued that shit on. It doesn't even fit well

Isn't every carbon "glued on" literally piece by piece... quite weird and strangely interesting... ... they went out of their way to have a "aero" design... including front fork as well.

now with more air intakes

I thought I saw a air-intake, hence the question of if they are trying to copy Seka Spear... but hell no and OMG... that looks like one of those Japanese car with heavy wings.... Not sure if I like it... LOL

Do you think the 6903 bearings can really lower the rolling resistance ? I am not sure, DT Swiss uses same 6802 and 15267 on their hubs. At least so far we haven't any client saying our hubs with high rolling resistance or anything bad. Anyway we use good bearings, maybe just different sizes with others'.

Thanks. I'll msg you to confirm the details, price and order.

Well the bike is 1ond 1 and they have even used the same material in the steerer tube looks like dyneema reinforcement. Why go to all the at  trouble for a counterfeit frame.
Likely these frames are the same as Tan Tan are an OEM and well this is not a frame from some random seller on AliExpress

Really hate it when resellers called clone or fake frames "OEM", which really have a totally different meanings....

Current we use these sizes on our 24/24H in-house hubs with enduro steel bearings for regular stainless spokes, and 21/21H hubs 20/20H hubs with TPI ceramic bearings for carbon spokes: 6802 on front hub and freehub, 15267 on rear hub except freehub.

Thanks Peter. The reason I asked is because I was told that both Farsports and WindSpace Hyper and Farsport  use 6903 for lower rolling resistance. There is no option to go for 6903 and still stick to ceramic and carbon ?
