Sales & Classifieds / Re: Carbonda Store

What are the prices and shipping cost to the USA? Any impact due to tariffs? That AR one looks great btw.

Getting those packages on the USA shores isn't too difficult because that has always been in place. Its what happens next that's worrying me. UPS and FedEx have been charging hefty fees lately. It will be interesting to see what USPS does for small packages and if they have a website to pay the fees before last mile delivery is attempted. Many of my packages in the last 6 month have not come through USPS at all but a private small courier company. Just to test what happens, I placed a small order of Choice items. I am fully prepared to be hit by a bill that I cannot decipher.

I think I'll check the used market for Shimano's.

If you can't find them, ZRace R700 on AliExpress for $25 are 1:1 copies of Shimano 105 R7000 are excellent. I tried them out as a stop gap measure and they work exactly the same as actual R7000s.

LTwoo e groups have more than doubled while cheap Shimano groups have simply vanished/ are un-shippable to the USA. I am glad I stocked up on couple of 105 R7100 and an eGR just in time. I wonder if this is the end of it or they are figuring out the logistics and will be back again.

Not sure how AliEx did it, but I was very happy. Ordered April 30, delivered on May 8, so it was during the peak tariff period.

Good to know. When did it reach US shores?

^^^ Be curious to know what happens. All my AliEx packages get delivered via UniUni or USPS too.

Edit: Some of the stores have just vanished outright. E.g. Goldix store from where I bought my last 12 speed cassette - https://www.aliexpress.com/store/1102623843.
I was going to order 11-46 but no dice. In other stores, this 20 dollar cassette is now $50 +.

I find it hilarious that the vast majority who ridicules anyone building/buying chiner stuff are ready to spend 3x to 5x for same part on Amazon. You link some part on AliExpress people go <insert insurance joke here> but if you link same Chiner part on Amazon, people say thanks LOL. That's Facebook for you.

If there is one entity that is single handedly destroying LBS business, it is Amazon and not us peasants trying to apply $3 off coupon on a $17 stem and $5 bartape.

Except...  There are some some interpretations of different fees that are being charged depending on  the level of automation and involvement by Customs.   Plus there are some percentage Tariff versus fixed charge regarding the tariffs.n On top of this, something about a huge fee being charged by USPS and/or the delivery carrier.   See below from one article I copied this from.

Still very confusing regarding how much consumers will actually end up paying...

While checking social media, I am seeing lot of people posting how UPS is ripping making money off of them by charging something called "broker fee". For example one guy was asked to pay nearly $400 in government charges (lol) and another 275 in UPS brokerage charge (LOL), so nearly $700. The package wasn't even from China but somewhere in Europe.

Don't forget this is for 90 days.
Which means there is another round of this circus sometime in July unless the guy wakes up at midnight someday and fires off tweets saying 30% isn't good.

Cyclocross Frames, Wheels & Components / Re: LTWOO eGR
« on: May 11, 2025, 06:08:48 PM »
I have been riding my eGR bike regularly past few weeks. One thing that stands out is how good the brakes are.

My other bikes are various Shimano hydros and comparatively these feel much better as far as lever feel and modulation goes. May be I have set up Shimano hydros incorrectly or LTWoo is really better I will never know but this is my observation. The brake pads took more than usual time for bed-in but once they did, performance is fantastic.

Secondly, the batteries that came in the groupset were bad. From 100% charge it went down to 67% in just one ride of approximately 30 miles. Not sure if those are faulty. Thankfully I had ordered a set of Vapcell F12 (https://liionwholesale.com/products/vapcell-f12-14500-3a-flat-top-1250mah-battery-genuine?variant=40620938330181) before the groupset so I replaced brand new batteries with Vapcell and after clocking in about 120 miles, the battery % shows at 91 - quite a drastic difference. I am guessing the battery life to get better after a few charge cycles.

Which ones? Elitewheels?

So we'll just pay 50%

Old news. That was yesterday morning which in current times was ages ago.

Today the king said, in these exact words - "“80% Tariff on China seems right! Up to Scott B"

Yes, the wheels have 35t ratchet as standard, i just prefer faster engagement. If the DT ratchets will fit I'll likely just wait for the wheels to arrive and swap in the DT ratchet from my old wheels

They will fit. I have DT ratchet in Goldix 180SL hub.

Does your wheelset already have star ratchet and you are trying to upgrade it to higher teeth count? Or your wheels don't have star ratchet at all?

If it's the first case, then yes it will fit. If not, then no - you need extra hardware, a special tool and preferably a vise.

My go-to tires are Panaracers from eBay, which seem to be cheaper buying on eBay as opposed to other vendors. My favorite for road are the Panaracer Agilest Duro. They come with an additional protection layer, but still weigh less than other tubeless road tires. Also I'm a hardcore 25c tire guy on road bikes and their 25c tires mount tubeless easily. For gravel I just get GravelKings. The new X1s are nice.

Mine too. Just got the Panaracers for my Dao wheels, from Amazon sold via 365cycles. $42 a pop, not bad. I always go for Panaracer GKs even on my endurance bike that I mostly used on the road.
