Maintenance, Mechanics, & Tools / Pressfit BB86 tools
« on: Today at 09:47:30 AM »
Hello,

Could you advice me some good tools for installing and removing a pressfit BB86 on Aliexpress.

I have just discovered that there is a remover which let you do it without a hammer. But I fear that the cup push in the carbon frame. What do you think ?

What type of grease/ antiseize do you use ? I plan to use Shimano antiseize.

I also dropped that metal plate holding the front derailleur plate into the seat tube absolute pain to get that back

For future user, you can have a look at pages 20, 21 and 22 of the Tarmac SL8 manual. It explains how to install it.

I'm not an expert, but i've bought a dozen OEM frames in the last 3y, and if i had to pay Winspace prices to receive that, i'd go ape shit.
Loose carbon strands in critical areas (headset & bottom bracket cups) isn't exactly reassuring. carbon fiber strands without the resin matrix have zero strength. So if the edges of the frame like that has such strands, critical areas of the frame potentially have compromised strength.
Now, that being said, you have a T47 BB, which kind of exists to allow shoddy manufacturing, which is exactly what you have here. As long as the metal shell is bonded to the frame, having loose strands around it scares me much less than if the BB were press fit. The headset bearing cups dont look pretty, but unless there's a clear oval (vs round) or a clear lip that's not of constant thickness and so on, i think you're safe.
The ugly patch in the middle of the BB area looks bad, but it doesnt look like you have big ass shards that weren't compressed like the frame we saw last week another user post. It's probably from manufacturing process, and just shows they suck.

Basically, if you look at the inside of the fake Ostro frames on this forum, and at these 2 winspace frames, i know who i'd work with... The level of irony in the fact sellers of fake products have products that look 10x tighter than Winspace...

Patlean mentioned that winspace may be struggling financially from supporting a racing team and being burdened with out of date wheels. that would make sense, and i would expect them to cut corners.

I'd stay away from that brand, because you pay a LOT more than what competitors offer (all over this forum), but they treat you like a$$ if you complain. And they have the audacity to say this is normal to receive such frames at the price point, so why take that trade? For anyone wanting to spend winspace territory money, i'd consider at the fake Factors on the thread here, and get it without a logo. Or get Peter's upcoming Gran Turismo frame, because it's likely going to be a similar price point with T1100, 40T, 30T fibers. The new van rysel aero frame uses T1100, T40 and T60, similar to the real Factor frames, so we're talking high end stuff. Much higher end than Winspace, btw.

Where did you find the carbon layup of the Van Rysel. What is T40, T60 compared to 1100, 1000... ?

Again ? Same problem as another user.

It is not acceptable for the price.

I've really grown to love my ICAN/Triaero Flyee in the last couple months and that's an Orca "inspired" frameset, if that option interests you. The frame easily fits 35c tires and I love the ICAN FL38max wheels I got for it too (sadly they've raised the price of those wheels by $90 since I bought mine). I checked their truing, dishing and circularity when I received them and everything was within .5mm. I was sick for the whole second half of 2024 so I was not able to actually start riding the Flyee until this year and it's honestly been wonderful. I love the geometry, it's snappy but still has high stack so you don't need a tower of headset spacers under the stem.

For the record though, they did totally strip the thru axle threads on the fork but it was easily fixed with an M12x1.5 tap and ICAN told me they would send a replacement fork if needed. I was the one who chose to tap it rather than get a replacement. I shared more pros and cons in the thread I linked below.

How is the siffness of the Flyee ? (I know, it is offtopic)

Got my frameset painted up. Now I need to buy a groupset…. So far my wife hasn’t been too upset so I’ll call that a win!

What is the color code or name please ?
Any reciews of how it feels and rides ?

So, 340 km in total ok the bike and I must admit the rides feel very good. Very stiff, agile for an bulky aero frame and the look is insane. The last two things are the screw (for the saddle clamp) and this rubber cover to follow the frame (open to ideas).

How is the frame in crosswind ?

Anyone else having problems with the battery holder?

It prevents the seat post from going in all the way and it gets stuck when taking out the seat post which says to me that the clamping from the holder to the seat post is absolutely shit.

You can have a look at this type B battery holder :

It is expensive for what it is but it works perfectly on a SL8 seatpost. However, I am not sure how it will fit for the x68 seatpost.

They released an aero bottle cage for this frame.

I rebuilt my older aero'ish SPCycle R027D framesets from storage and while it's heavier built up (7.5kg vs 6.84kg), it's definitely a much faster bike. Unless steep climbing is a factor in daily riding, I wouldn't be so caught up in bike weights and modern layup techniques. Some of these older non-EPS carbon bikes are built tough and stiff.

Have you compared with the same equipments ans watts ?

the longer this drags out, the more annoyed I get. The returned frame has been sitting in a warehouse in Shenzhen for 11 days because they messed up the commercial invoice. They classified it as a "sample" rather than a "return," which is a thing they do to avoid import duties. They also declared the value as 150 USD, which is another standard way to avoid import duties. I'm not sure which part (or maybe it was both) the customs clearance people didn't like. I tried to send an updated invoice a few days ago but it's still sitting there so I'm not sure they were happy enough with my update. I also asked Winspace to deal with it earlier last week, because it was their mess up to begin with. So far they have done nothing.

Winspace won't send a replacement until they receive the original frame back... and it's starting to feel like they're actively trying to not get the returned frame  >:(

Have you tried to post your bad experience on social media (youtube, ...) and comments all the videos or posts which promote this brand ?

Loving the new T40A mesh on the RYET Arcode saddle. This one totally fixes the stiff mesh from the original. It's a tad heavier at 170g, but it's way comfortable!  :)

I read that the front of the saddle may be to wide and leads to irritation or damage the short. Could you confirm please ?
