That is really crazy and unfortunate.  Glad you’re okay.  I’ve been riding my 24mm Lexon cranks pretty much daily.  No issues.  I remember watching a Trace Velo episode where he had a cheap pair of cranks that broke in the same place your’s did.

My biggest gripe with the Lexon cranks is that either their chainrings or spiders are out of spec. I have had non-stop issues with a oscillating chainrings causing minor cage rub on the FD. After switching to a Stone spider and Stone chainrings I was able to eliminate the oscillation.  This was also an issue with my 29mm Lexon cranks.

I may cave and order some Elilees or Cyberei later this year. Your post gives pause about continuing ride on them for safety reasons.

FWIW, I have removed and installed my Lexon cranks multiple times.

This is the exact package I just ordered from Ltwoo, an Ltwoo eR9, RD, FD, battery pack w/ all cables (no cells, but those are cheap in Ltwoo world), Shifters, brake calipers w/ hoses and all hardware (no rotors), no cassette, no crank, no chainring. No fancy package, all items bubblewrapped. My total was $305 including shipping and tax.

So, less than half of what Shimano 105 costs. But, the savings continue since I can pair it with any wheelset and cassette with a little more confidence.

That’s totally worth it at that price. I paid just under 400USD for ER9 back in JAN.

I have ran:

SRAM Force (previous gen)
Ultegra and DA 11spd Di2
Wheeltop EDS TX (rim brake)
Ltwoo ER9
105 Di2

All of these on different bikes.  SRAM is the groupset I have enjoyed the least.  Di2 has been the most reliable and trouble free.  Wheeltop is slow and finicky to set up but it works.  Also love going from 11-12spd on the same frame.

ER9 was the easiest and fastest groupset swap I ever did.  Worked almost identical to my Ultegra 8070 series Di2.  I did not put enough miles on it to assess its reliablility.  Its up for consideration for any future builds.

I mostly chose Shimano because I thought price was decent and it does what I need it to do.

That sounds right.  When I say “780.00” thats what I paid with shipping and taxes.

Serge, I misspoke, I paid 780.00 USD shipped.  That is without crank, cassette, chain, rotors.  Everything came bubble wrapped, no Shimano boxes.  All small parts included and the brakes and hydro lines were pre-filled.

Still, I think its a fair comparison to chinese groupsets, because neither WT or Ltwoo offer cranks or consumables.  I’ve owned both, and think they are decent sub 500.00 groups

I paid 700USD for Di2 on Aliexpress.  Delivered to the US in 10 days.

Currently running Pirelli PZero Race tires with latex tubes.

So, this is an interesting topic, internal width.  My GoZones are 24mm IW 30mm EW.  Last week during a training ride, I got a partial flat or lost pressure in my front tire at the last 2 mi.  I was able to make it to my car without a complete flat.  Pressure was low, no signs of punctures or damage.  I do remember hitting some debris, which I expected to find the damage afterwards.

Got home, tire completely deflated. Swapped to a new latex tube.  Inspected the old tube.  No holes or slashs.  Pumped it up to about 25-30psi and left it in the garage over night.  No loss of pressure.  I’m wonder if running 28s on a 24IW wheel caused a “tire burp” and loss of pressure?!

10
Yeah, I run the same pressures on my tires.  They seem like a solid wheelset for the price.  I’m happy so far.  It looks like GoZone is now offering the same wheelset with DT Swiss hubs for +700.00

11
I went with Go-Zone.  30mm external, 24mm internal, 50mm depth.  I run 28 in front and 30 in the rear.  Now I’m sold on wider wheels.  Decent weight for the Go-Zones too.  I think I paid 440.00 shipped.

Funny, I just purchased that exact 105 groupset.  With taxes and shipping it was 720.00.  Shipped to my house via DHL in one week.  Consider me impressed.

13
Yeah, they are based out of a guy’s house in Fayetteville, NC.  I think it’s just an avid veteran cyclist that started his own thing.  Seen 1-2 of their bikes on the road.

I don’t think they do that much business.  I’m 99.9% sure they are open mold frames from China.  Never saw them claim they were otherwise.

I’m looking at the carbonbikekits crank but I also want to wait until Peter releases his crank.  Depending on price I may just order from Peter.

Would love to hear feed back on the CBK crank.  For price, the weight is far
more competitive than Lexon’s offerings.
