Component Deals & Selection / Re: Evosid version of 5DEV cranks
« on: March 10, 2025, 03:59:23 PM »

Mine are for a DUB bb.   I wonder what the difference is?  They fit my bb perfectly.   Interesting.

There is a version of this that have the shimano HT2 spindle instead of DUB. I had issues with the zrace blade spindle where i had to sand it to fit into the MT800 BB properly.

I use the cooma elite ceramic pads and they are really good compard to other "ceramic" ali pads. They are completely silent but it slowly eats my IIIPro floating rotor.

It took 42 days to get here by train. It was packaged in two layers of green sack, one layers of cardboard and enough bubblewrap and tape to annoy me.
PROS: It was über cheap and good tolerances. The fork is 100mm, rear dropout 135mm, bottom bracket straight as it can.
CONS: The paint was chipped on multiple places because of the garbage handling during transport, the frames "internal" QC doesn't seems to exists, landfill headset bearings and ok quality derailer hanger.
The BBs threads was cut after ordering as it was not cleaned out of the water/oil mixture, threads painted over on one side and most metal shawings left inside(took me a while to clean it). The fork/headtube doesn't have the holes de-burred on the inside, the first bottle cage rivet limits the seatposts insertion depth to only 275mm. Removing a star nut from the fork is impossible because of the rivet and metal.
Dont have the parts to fully build the frame yet but what i cannot see wont bother me. Not the best image quality but its usable. Don't have images of the BBs threads as i cleaned it yesterday and the cups are impossible to remove without snapping my cheap zrace bb wrench.

How it looks.

The remaining metal bits in the headtube top and bottom.

The fork.

The seat tube.

Component Deals & Selection / Re: DT 240EXP hub clones Goldix, Venfort

Does anyone have experience with Koozer hubs 350 Model 8560/8565?

If i'm not mistaken then GOLDIX is their OEM so the quality should be the same.

The magnesium frame is getting a nice discount putting it JUST UNDER the 135€ coupon by a few cents. This was the last dealbreaker for this frame for now. Gonna buy an alfine 11 during black friday locally and if i canno't then alfine 8 with front derailer with 34-50 chainring. Got a stupid idea of using an IGH for the roadbike project.

Another way of having 180mm on normal flatmounts or even 203mm rotors(the fork probably wont survive it) on yours by using brake adapter shenanigans. Flatmount 160 to postmount 160 with postmount to flatmount +20mm adapter. OFC it is not safe at all.

2 Cross Lacing.
Spoke Lengths offered by seller is 192 and 194.

Does this look correct? Could I get away with 194 on the read right side? Technically 2.3mm to long according to the calc.

Spoke length with the offset values. Spokecalc doesn't allow more than 4mm of offset so its 297.03 for the NDS on the rear hub.

As it turns out there is a DYIsland XT-8 which is the flatmount version. Same curved design that looks new-ish.

DYIsland XT-7 hybrid disc brakes.
This looks like a new design to me. (Dont know how to attach images on phone)

What is the next best sale after 11.11? I don't have enough things to purchase right now, but would consider it over waiting a whole year.

Black friday around november 27.

This sale is diabolical. The venfort hub went from 45€ to 86€ overnight, the gravel framesets price went down by 20€ BUT the shipping price went from 15€ to 59€ and early february delivery time. The Sensah team pros brifters price silently went up by 14€. Before the sale i seen 8-14€ discount on other items but after the sale started all of them are back to their normal price. The only good pricedrop i see is the toseek carbon handlebar which dopped in price by 23€.

Really dissapointed in this sale.

Looks like ill wait for black friday as 11.11 is meh.

I stopped buying chains from Ali. Every chain I get ends up being trash. I now just stick to legit Shimano or SRAM chains.

Newbie Bike Store sells legit shimano chains for cheap. Those guys are authorised shimano merchants. At first i thought that they sold me a fake chain since my deore 12 speed chain started to rust. Then i realized that i go on a road regurarly that have a lot of iron dust on it. Cleaned the chain properly and the rusty spots are gone, around 1200km on the chain and no issues.

It certainly is a quirky conversation piece and I totally get buying odd stuff just for it being odd stuff.
and were already a bad idea back than with regard to both manufacturing and functional aspects of the product itself

Adding titanium and lithium to Mg can make it on par with steel in strength but the corrosion is not addressed. I was interested in this frame as it was cheap(under 100€), almost perfectly sized and in my area nobody owns a modern looking any bike. Wouldve humbled my middle of nowhere bikeshop again.
On the other hand did a qick weight calculation and it came to be around 13.6kg, fat af.

Vendor Discussion & Reviews / Any experience with Mithras store?

From my limited info gathering the store only started to sell bike parts after october 21. Dunno if it can be trusted but they have a nice looking frame.
