I reassembled the frame pivots with thread locker before taking it out on the first ride this weekend. I didn't do the main pivot so I don't have the bearing size but the rest of the bearings are below:

6800du
6801du
6800.2z

Quantity 2 for each one.

Thank you!

Have anyone done drilling a hole at the bottom of BB to drain water out?  How did that go?

Do you happen to remember the bearing size?

Guys, my FM121 bike has started making alot of noise lately from the rocker arm area.  It could be the play of the rear suspension shaft, like someone mentioned it’s 7.6mm but it should be 8mm.  I dissembled the rocker arm today and found out the bearings went bad.  I built my bike late December of 2024 and the bearings already went bad.  It means Tantan uses shitty quality bearings there.

I asked Vivian for the size of the bearings so that I can order good quality replacements from the States, but she thought I was asking about the bolts.  She doesn’t know about the bearing.

Does anyone know the size of those bearings?

So, my new bike project got bigger, I'll be building a new MTB too.  I was talking to Vivian from TanTan for their FM121 XC frame, then checking out their road frame offers too.  I ended up getting the FM025 frame, size S, about 825g.  Vivian offered me a bundle discount.  Total cost for FM121 + Fm025 is less than $1300.  Now I'm shopping for wheels.  Already got quotes from XM Carbon Speed and Yuan An.  Wheels from Go Zone on AliExpress look very good too.

Guys. We are going to release our T1100 rims next week. The rim in attached pictures is D50CU-33 T1100 rim UD paintless finish, under 390g/piece.

We are going to build these rims with carbon spokes and our hubs. The promotion price for below combo wheels would be 635 USD/pair excluding shipping, lasts Dec 24 :
D50CU-33 T1100 rims 21/21H UD paintless
Carbon Speed hubs 54T rachets TPI ceramic bearings center lock straight pull for 100*12/142*12 with Shimano HG driver
Carbon spokes with nipples

The weight for this combo wheelset would be around 1245g/pair

And we are doing 20/20H version lighter hubs which won't be released until 2025, it will save another 40-45g on the wheels by then.

Peter, are you guys gonna have a similar version for MTB wheels?

So what’s the verdict here?  Are we still good doing business with Yuan An?  What is the new sale person contact now?  Email only?  Whatsapp #?

Hey repoman, I like this post and love your detailed build report.  I'm building an XC bike myself.  Question for you:
- Why did you pick this frame over others such as Tantan FM121, SpCycle Sp-M861, etc?  To my understanding, this frame is the heaviest among them.
- Total weight of your bike after build?

Thanks for reading man.

Vendor Discussion & Reviews / AWST Store on AliExpress

I ordered a MTB frameset and a wheelset from them on September 4th, total cost was +1.5k USD.  Once it past AliExpress deadline (or refund will be issued automatically), they changed the order status to 'Shipped', but without tracking number and no further logs from the shipping activity.  I sent him a message asking about the frame and wheels.  They replied with broken English saying the wheels were done but the frame was not.  My next question:

- when will the frame be done?  It's been a month.

They answered:

"OK
Yes
I see"

I had to rephrase my question for them.  They said - exact quote: "I can send it to you around these few days".

4 days later, still no update on the order shipping status.  I asked again, and again.  Their answers were always: "few days".

Yesterday I went to AliX app and disputed the order with ALiX customer service.  AliX gave this store 5 days to sort this issue out.  The very next day, they texted me saying:

- Please cancel the dispute.  I will send it to you in about 3 days.

They also offered me a gift, which I don't know what it is.

I really don't know to deal with these types of vendors.  I'm glad I have AliExpress to help me in this situation.

Now I need to look where else for my MTB XC frame.  LightCarbon LCFS980 looks good, so does TanTan FM080.

$1500 in 2016, adjusted for inflation, is $2000 in 2024. Giant is currently offering the TCR frameset $2100 USD.

Lightweight, stiff, power transfer efficient frame (whatever this means), and sold by a major bike brand.

Problem solved.

Patrick, thanks for the recommendation, but that's also the dilemma/problem: I can easily avoid buying Chinese brand names by just pumping my budget a little more and get a Cervelo Soloist or Giant TCR frame.  is there a more affordable way to achieve the same goal?  Patrick, btw, I love your review of Winspace SLC 3 YT video, didn't know that was you though, haha.

Serge_K, wow, what a post, great thanks.  I weigh 145 lbs, so my preference is always ultra light bike.  I'm building my sub 22 lbs XC mtb for under $4k right now.  If I can build a sub 15 lbs road biike, that would be paradise for me.  The key here is I won't break my bank in the process.

I bought a Fuji Elite SL frameset in 2016 for $1500.  Its weight was 695g.  Loved that bike. It climbed up hills effortless.

Now, I want to build a new ultra lightweight bike to replace it.  I know with today technologies, best climbing bikes aren't all about weight, but it is still a major factor to consider, at least for me.

I was looking at Winspace SLC 3 frame.  It checked all my boxes except the price.  It's steep for a non-major bike brand.  I'm seeking for an alternative.  LightCarbon LCR017-D looked good until I saw the cheese-like internal material.

What are your suggestions for a lightweight, stiff, power transfer efficient frame?

Does anybody know the maximum length of seatpost insert for frame size M?   I want to order a dropper post for this frame and would like to know the measurements.

Thanks
