Welcome to Chinertown - Introduce Yourself! Hi all...

In my quest to build myself the ultimate carbon hardtail mountain bike on a budget, I found myself drowning in information overload! Mainly due to the fact that pretty much all of the information about these direct from China carbon frames is all buried in one huge thread over at mtbr.com. If you're here, I assume you're probably familiar with the threads I'm referring to, but I'll link 'em anyways for reference:

Here's the 4 year old, over 200 hundred page long hardtail thread: http://forums.mtbr.com/29er-bikes/chinese-carbon-29er-640919.html
And here's the quickly growing dual-suspension Chinese carbon thread: http://forums.mtbr.com/29er-bikes/dual-suspension-chinese-carbon-29er-737952.html

It seems pretty apparent that there's enough demand for these products that discussion shouldn't be relegated to a handful of threads. So.. The birth of Chinertown.com came about. Hopefully, it can grow into an organized and plentiful information resource for anyone that may be interested in building a top of the line carbon bike... without the big name brand price tag.

So, welcome to Chinertown!

Thanks for reading,
Sitar_Ned

Re: Where is everyone from? Good thread.. CD has had the idea to integrate a country identifier into the forum software, but just haven't found quite the right solution for it yet.

Til then:

Re: Ican P9 build Hey rideczech... Hope you don't mind if I upload these pics directly to the forum.. bike is too sweet for anyone to miss it. Great build, man. If I were to do a build right now I would most likely build it pretty much exactly as you have it. Only thing I might change would be going with the p8 instead of the p9, not sure.

Re: Lightcarbon LCFS937 Build Hey flimkay2k9.. that was me that banned you by mistake. I apologize. I've been trying to be proactive with spam prevention on the boards by watching the newly registered accounts and banning them before they get a chance to spam... accidentally banned you. Sorry.

Welcome to the forums and looking forward to following along with your build thread!

Re: Chinese SC/AM831 Group Buy
Hello everyone.

Size: M ( or equivalent to SC -- build for 5'4" wife )
Color: black carbon finish or Hightower Blue
Location: Utah

I have you accounted for. You'll have to decide your final size choice at time of ordering.

Re: Chinese SC/AM831 Group Buy Yeah, I'm not quite sure how to handle it. I want to honor my commitment to those that have submitted their intentions to join the group buy but I also don't want to mislead newcomers to the forum and make them waste time planning on buying and building out this frame.

I guess all I can really do is keep stating that this obviously isn't a guaranteed deal and to not depend on buying this frame to get you out on the trails anytime soon. I can only assume that most of the people that have expressed interest won't actually be buying the frame if and when it comes out. At a certain point, if we don't hear anything from Eddie, I guess I'll just lock the thread. As always, open to opinions.
