Re: Chinese SC/AM831 Group Buy What do we expect really? This kind of stuff can only be a side hassle for all these folks as they're doing contracts for larger companies, which are in turn doing contracts for bike manufacturers. Right now, every bike company is harassing the shit out of these companies to get stuff out faster and faster, and to increase production in ways that aren't necessarily possible given the timeframe. A lot of folks don't really have the inside perspective so here goes: After everything was sold out and the demand was huge for this season, pretty much every brand of bike related product is going in to booking season right now (and many have already been due - by around up to a month ago). Many, many dealers have decided to massively increase their booking orders for everything from bikes, to helmets, to armour, tubes, soft goods, etc. We've heard that booking orders that have come through already eclipse the total annual sales for many of these brands, which doesn't even include any potential re-orders or any dealers that are trying to go the traditional route of a booking/reorder mix. This in turn translates to Trek/Giant/Norco/POC/SMITH/Whoever turning to their manufacturers and asking for more shit to be made.

Way more shit.

And the reality is, how much can these places actually increase production year over year? 5%? 10%? Adding capacity at this type of manufacturing is extremely difficult, especially given the timeframe (bike product has about a 180 day window, manufacturing to sales for most brands) So I'm guessing Eddy and the other folks over at Haideli are waaaaaaayyy too busy trying to keep up with their large client demand to work on their side projects. So it could be a while before we hear more from this. I'm going to be patient, and if it takes so long that this is no longer a 'buy', then that's too bad but it's the way it is at the moment.

Anyway I probably should have posted that in the other thread. Oh well.

Re: Stumpjumper clone I'd love to see this frame off a more reputable/common reseller. I've been out of the game too long to pick one of these up from a random reseller/aliexpress.

Edit: Also the frame doesn't have water bottle bolts. Hope that's not an oversight!

Double edit: Shock eye to eye is that of the lousy stumpjumper ST. Unless it's actually 210x50-55 or so, it's an ST.  If the numbers were less out to lunch, then I might be interested in a medium.

Re: Help me doublecheck my nooby first enduro build FM10 I've seen so many SX derailleurs shatter along the fixing bolt area. Just be aware that it is a known and very common issue with SX and to a lesser extent NX as well. Personally I'd recommend the new 11 speed  Deore stuff if you can find it for a reasonable price, or just set aside some cash knowing at some point there's a chance you'll want to replace it with a GX derailleur.

I also can't recommend going with pedals with titanium axles. Even really nice ti axle pedals tend to snap all the time. For similar money you can probably get some knockoff RaceFace Chester nylon pedals with alloy axles that are going to be around the same weight anyway.

I agree with the other poster... cheap wheels a nice suspension are the way to go.

Re: Help me doublecheck my nooby first enduro build FM10
I have two pairs of Time Atac pedals with Ti axles for years.
Maintaining them regularly and don't see any wear.

I tried Chinese ones, not the same story.
After a few months the axles were seriously sheared at contact points with bearings and bushing.

Where did you see them snap usually?
Is it something you could see coming by inspecting them?

I don't think it's something you can usually see coming. To be honest most of my experience comes from the handful of more popular brands in North America (which Time is not). This is also from someone who has worked in a shop for a number of years, and before that attended several years of an XC series that often pulled 200-300 riders each week. So my exposure is far, far higher than your average rider. I personally wouldn't worry about them snapping on a day to day basis (unless you're running the godawful crankbros TI pedals), but given the relatively few TI pedal spindles I've seen in total compared to other materials, I'd be extremely leery about getting a knockoff version, especially when something like the Chester pedal is so good, so light, and so cheap. If you're prepared to shell out for a high end, well branded, and warranty supported TI pedal, then I wouldn't worry about it too much!

Re: Carbonda fm936 Thoughts You can add the float DPS to that list if you are willing to have someone add the spacer for money to make it 42.5

Re: Carbonda fm936 Thoughts

According to WXY tracking, they sent the package the 29th of December, making it exactly 5 weeks for painting, but during christmas time...

Just as an FYI to yourself and others in this thread, they don't really do the whole Christmas thing over there- so there's no delay caused by it. The big thing for them is new years (their version of it) which often closes factories for like 9 days. That's upcoming and in the past what has caused delays for us.

Re: Carbonda fm936 Thoughts Well, if the paint only is cracking within like a month anyway any main company would warranty that too. Props to Carbonda for not wanting to investigate further and treating themselves properly.

Re: Carbonda fm936 Thoughts The worst part is probably knowing the damn thing would have been on your doorstop 6 months ago if you'd just accepted a BB92 from the get-go. Dang!
