Thanks Neb for the info. I will look into that.

Just a heads up for anyone doing their own cable routing for this frame, it's a pain! I had a helluva time getting the housing through the frame, especially through the rear linkage. I ended up removing the bottom linkage near the bottom bracket to get more room to get the housing through. There is a sharp turn coming from the bottom bracket, out to the rear derailleur or rear brake line. I couldn't get the housing through from the derailleur/brake forwards to the bottom bracket, so I had to work from the bottom linkage backwards. For some reason the route to the rear derailleur was especially tough, the housing kept getting caught on something on the route. I had to cover my housing end with duct tape and a bit of grease to get it to slip through.

I used this method for getting it from the bottom bracket up to the dropper post or to the headset/bars, which worked fairly well:

Color looks great! I gotta ask how did you describe your color/paint scheme for them to paint it? I’d be interested in a sort of blue with purple glitter / chameleon look but not sure how that would be done. Did you just ask them for purple green chameleon effect? With RAL colors? What RAL code is your purple? Thanks!

Hi gd3fit,

Katie from Carbonda sent me a few pictures of the Purple/green chameleon, it wasn't a RAL color but it was already a pre-determined color scheme from them. I'm sure you could ask her for your colors and see what she says. They may have something like it already.

My price breakdown was as follows:

750 USD for frame-M-BSA73  with standard matte finish
15 USD for headset
15 USD for rear axle
5 USD for   derailleur hanger (the frame comes with one derailleur hanger )
195 USD by Air ,shipping time is about 7-15 days
125 USD for painting
4.5% Paypal fee (about $49)

$1154 was my total. Katie was really good about keeping me informed of the status of the frame, and she sent pictures of the finished frame before it was shipped over.

Total time from ordering until it arrived at my door was about 5 weeks. Not sure if this would have been shorter if I didn't have it custom painted.

Just received my Carbonda fm1001 from Katie, looks great. I just took a quick pic right out of the box.

I had it painted by them, the color is purple/green chameleon. Total cost shipped to Colorado was $1154.

Just starting to build it up, but wondering about frame protection.

@Neb, where did you get your chainstay protector and downtube/bottom bracket protection? I'm really liking the way yours looks and fits.

Thanks!

So right after I received my 29+ carbon wheelset from Peter, I saw a Stache 9.8 on Ebay that I couldn't resist. My size and stock everything.

It just came in today, I'll post pictures as soon as I get it all assembled and ready to ride. I think I'll keep the wheels from Peter anyways, and compare them to the Carbon Bontrager Line Pros that came with my Stache.

Just an update on my carbon 29+ wheels. I received them today from Peter, and they look awesome! They are amazingly light, and I love the small spoke holes. I can probably use my 1 inch wide Stan's tape to tape them up, the less tape the better.

I'll give a ride update as soon as I get them set up, but I am really impressed with Peter and his products, communication, etc.

Yeah, I think I'm going to try it. For $35, it seems like a no-brainer if he's going to upgrade it for me. I guess if it breaks, I can always get an 18t setup pretty cheap online and put it in myself.

I do some rock gardens and technical climbs once in a while, and it would be nice to have better engagement overall.

I contacted Peter and he only can do the 36t upgrade. He quoted me $35 for the upgrade. Anyone think it's worth it? I've never ridden anything else than 18t, or whatever comes stock on the 350 hubs.

Yes, considering the 54t star ratchet upgrade, but that's something I can do myself fairly easily in the future. Funny, I didn't ask Peter about that but I wonder if he can upgrade it for me.

Thanks CarbonDude. It's nice to get feedback from an actual Stache owner. I think I'm going to pull the trigger on the carbon wheels. The 350 hubs are amazing, I can service them easily and they roll smooth.

So I emailed Peter the other day, and he quoted me $625 for a 50 mm Carbon rim wheelset laced to DT Swiss 350 boost hubs. Of course I'd have to pay shipping and Paypal fees, but that is still a great deal in my opinion.

I have a Trek Stache 9 29+  and I love the bike, just wondering if a carbon wheelset upgrde would be worthwhile. Right now I have the Mulefut rims on there now with 350 hubs, and they're not bad.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Agreed, I like it also. I wonder how the geometry compares to the Workswell frame that's been out for a while. If they are comparable, it might be worth a try on the Chinese frame ($600) vs. the Trek Frame ($1500+).

Has anyone seen or built up one of these frames? I did see it also on Pinkbike, someone from SoCal is selling them. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

325 Racer,

Just checked out the Lamere 29+ full suspension bike, and it looks like the rear end is 177, not Boost 148. Maybe you saw that already.

I haven't seen a full suspension 29+ bike besides the Lamere and the Lenz (Behemoth or Fatillac, can't remember which). If you find a chinese full suspension frame with Boost 148 that will allow a 29+, please let us know.

Either way, let us know what you build up for your dad.

Carbon Dude, you will definitely have to change your screen name since you won't own any carbon bikes any more!

Weird, but I have the new Trek Stache too and I love it! I can basically ride anything here in Cali, but once in a while my body wants a full suspension on the bumpy stuff. I rode a Spec 6fattie (carbon) and loved it, but I can't afford 4K or whatever it costs. The aluminum version of that bike makes lots of sense.

You definitely should build up that new XM Carbonspeed 27.5+ frame, so we can all see how you build it up. I would be really interested in a 29+ full suspension, but have only seen 2 (Lenz and Lamere) anywhere. I was wondering if there's a Chinese version of that Lamere frame that could be built up as a 29+ FS.

Good luck whatever you choose, and thanks for keeping us updated.
