Been away from the site a long time, and was hoping to get a headstart on my search.

Is there an open mold 29er HT carbon frame with threaded BB and geo designed for a 100mm fork? I have a CS057, and would like a 27.2 seatpost, a bit of compliance in the rear triangle and slacker HTA. Bonus if weight is actual around 1000g for a 19".

I've seen DIYCarbon frames for $425 USD: https://www.diycarbonbikes.com/collections/hardtailframes/products/2018-29er-dcb-xc27-carbon-mountain-bike-frame.
Haven't looked at eBay or PB classifieds. Being away so long it gets confusing trying to catch up on the options. The DIY site has the SC Highball clone and they mention" comfort, but the last Highball that I demo'd years ago was anything but comfortable. Maybe the new open mold version is?

Thanks for any help.

Thoughts on these two frames?
I've never purchased from Aliexpress. The 258 shows 150 frames in stock?! A July delay would be dealbreaker for me. I know you're not the seller, but hoping to get info from anyone regarding what's shown on Aliexpress and what is reality for in stock.

Pro Mance told me today it's a 40 day wait, minimum, for a 19" black matte M9007. Price was great, but I cannot wait that long. Oh well, worth asking.

So I know you've posted around a bit with this question (mtbr and here), and I have the M9007 with this mount, and I have to say I don't really understand what the issue is.  No matter whether the brake is on the seatstay or the chainstay, it's part of the sprung rear triangle, and it's going to affect suspension kinematics under braking equally. When I ride while braking in the rear I don't notice any differences in suspension activity or any lack of braking efficiency.
Since you brought up suspension, is the shock tune of the aftermarket Fox a great match for the frame's kinematics?
Did you request a firm XC tune?

FM258 and FM058 are going to cost about $550/set if you buy less than 5 sets.
If you buy more than 4 sets, the price is $490/set.

Was told frames ready in May.

Yep. And I wrote they have a 142x12, a 650 boost and a 29er boost.
But as of this morning the 29er boost is not available until May at earliest.

Is this rear spacing information for the FM258 or FM058?
I was told the May date for boost 29er.

142*12 is not boost.
Boost is 148*12

The geometry of FM258 is identical to 2017 FM058, but they changed the top tube to make it a 100% Scott Spark sibling. I like the new shape and if they finally create a 21" version, it may be the one for me. Even though I still don't understand the 2.2 tire clearance. At least make it 2.35"!

According to Tom, whose FM058 build was posted at the top of this page, there's enough room for 2.25" and maybe 2.35" tires on moderately wide rims. I am confident that the FM258 will be offered in size 21", since the Spanish brand Megamo will soon sell it under the name "Track." Size 21" is listed in the geometry chart on their website. I'm still not enthusiastic about the Boost rear axle. The description on Hongfu website might say 142x12, but their Alibaba store states the frame will be Boost.

Hong Fu told me they have 29er 142x12, 650b boost and 29er boost. Their site is now updated.

Thank you. At 2.1kg with rear shock that is nice! I wait until Lunar New Year over before communicating with Peter or whomever has a 19 inch frame in stock. Give me time to decide on rear shock.

add 150g.
Add 150g to the claimed weight or is that add 150g for a rear shock?

Copied from previous post: If anyone's interested, I've asked Hongfu about 19" FM-058: the price is 650USD and weight is in 1800±40g range. That is without rear shock. I believe Scott Spark frame is 1800 grams with shock.

Boost and fitting a Fox EVOL would make it an option for me. With 120 F34 fork the geometry looks good.

Seems this is one of the few 29er Boost frames that can run 120mm fork without messing up the xc-ish geometry. But my main question: are the rear shock options that fit actually working in unison with the frame design or are they simply a matter of "if it fits, make it work". When Scott sells a frame with a rear shock it's been rigorously tested. Will the FM-058 perform similarly with whatever Monarch XX or Fox Evol?

It is definitely fun. It’s just as fun building for others as it is for yourself.

I did see they have a Fox 34 at 120 for a great price too.

What’s the plan for the rest of the build?
Eagle GX, Crest or MK3 Arch EX rims, decent hubs, carbon bar, thinking no dropper, SLX brakes, 160 rotors. She's light and places high value/fun on climbing and fast fireroads. Descents....she couldn't care less.
