On the cs-821 I had a rockshox SID world cup carbon fork (120) XTR groupset and brakes, monarch rct3, stans arch rims on hope pro4 hubs and renthal carbon bar with a renthal stem. rocket rons on the front and  racing ralph on the back.   I had just got it under 12lb the week before it got stolen.

yep, that was my last bike until sum scumbag stole it and all my tools from my van just over a month back! Ive got to say that it was an awesome bike, climbed great and handled the descents admirably. Ive now got a yeti sb 4.5 and so far haven't beaten any of my personal best times yet. I do feel that the yeti is more nimble but it is also 2lb heavier than my cs 821 was. The build quality is far better than any other Chinese fs bike I've seen and i would say about 95% as good the big named brands.
If I'm honest I'm slightly disappointed in the yeti as to me it doest feel like its that much better than the cs 821 and its almost 5 times as expensive!!!

29er / What do you say?

Hey everybody! So I've been on a chiner for the last two years now (currently a cs-821 from Peter) and i find that every single time i go out i have to explain what its is I'm riding and that "no it isn't the (fill in the blank) bike" and that it's a Chinese open mould frame. Then i seem to have to explain the whole process of how it works, and that yes i built it myself and no i don't  worry about it exploding on me every time i go out.
So basically my question is, What do you tell people?.
I'm always tempted to say it is just a sticker less (fill in the blank) Bike and get on with my ride but that just feels to disingenuous to me.

Yeah, Ive got the debonair RCT3. I run it at 92psi (I'm 64kg/140lb) with 5 tokens and in the middle of the rebound. I keep it full open 99% as I barely notice any pedal bob at all and prefer to have the extra traction up my local climbs. the only time I set it to pedal is when I'm on the road. I never lock it out.

Some pics attached just to show how neat the cable routing is. I know I need to shorten the brake hose under the bb ;)

I pilled the trigger on the cs-821 17.5 frame from peter in the end. All I can say is WOW, What a bike. I think its been mentioned before but the hardware on this is another level compared to my old china full sus. This has a shorter chain stay and slacker head angle than my last frame and its made such a big difference, I find myself hammering on the downhills now and really flicking it around corners. The power transfer to the rear is 10 times better on the ups, even with shock fully open!!

As far as the build went, it couldn't have been smoother, I picked the frame up at 6pm friday night and took it for its first spin around 10am the next morning. The bearings/bolts were all nice and tight and the cable routing was a piece of cake with draw throughs in place.

If anyone has any questions about this frame just hit me up, I'd be happy to help.

29er / Frame painting
« on: April 24, 2017, 01:45:45 PM »
Ok, Looking for some input here, Ive already had one Chinese carbon frame and I painted it orange with my own spray equipment. And to be honest the Finish was ok but it whore like shit. This time I've gone for a UD frame (cs-821 from peter) and have noticed a lot of plain black frame pics on this forum. Do you guys leave it as it is? do you spray it back or do you just lacquer it? if you do spray anything on it what do you use?
