I'd advise reading through http://forums.mtbr.com/cyclocross/chinese-2015-cyclocross-bike-frame-142mm-thru-axle-927553-11.html

Some of the very first frames had issue, they appear to all be resolved now though.

For those who don't know Caterham are a British sports car manufacturer, they tend to look like:

Can either buy the complete car or build it yourself from a kit, a friend has one and they're rather nippy  ;D

The 'motor' bikes aren't my cup of tea but at least they've put a bit more effort in than the recent Audi bike, in fact pretty much any car company bike.

They also do a road bike which rather nice

and so it should be if it's built by AX-Lightness.

Thanks.

Shimano road and mtb use different pull ratios, Sram decided to not make esoteric builds harder/impossible by using the same cable pull ratio on road and mtb. Road front mechs also tend to be rated for a lower difference in ring tooth count.

Wow! I was kinda waiting for one of the Chendors to start selling a DW-Link style full suspension frame.  Now I wonder if a 29" version will be coming?

Here is a picture:

Am curious as to what mech you're supposed to fit on that? has a roadie braze on.

Nasty, good thing you noticed it before riding.

Enve released a statement about exhaust heat some time ago https://enve.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/201458669-Exhaust-Heat-Warning
Would be rather painful discovering this on a £600 rim!

Component Deals & Selection / XTR Di2 Mounts
« on: March 22, 2015, 07:30:18 PM »
Ahoy!

I'm specing up a build for an(other) multi-use adventure bike, this time of a more roadie persuasion but with XTR Di2 for easy mode gearing.

Miracle Bikes MC-286 looks ideal,
however, Di2 XTR requires a mount such as
http://www.evanscycles.com/products/shimano/xtr-di2-front-derailleur-mount-adaptor-ec070543
in either Direct Mount, E-Type Mount, High Clamp Band or Low Clamp Band.

The MC286 comes with a road style braze on and a mostly not round looking seat tube  >:(

Do any of you fine folks know if there's a way to get this to work?

Ta muchly.

Vendor Discussion & Reviews / Re: Shipping time from flyxii?
« on: March 03, 2015, 01:12:28 PM »
Good to hear they've (finally) arrived.

They don't normally take that long, mine was:

6th (night) Emailed asking about BB30
7th (lunchtime) Told would be a 50 day wait but BSA available. Invoice sent and paid.
8th Shipped
11th Arrived in UK
19th Cleared Customs
22nd Delivered

That was 2 years ago though so they may be a bit busier with the increased popularity in chinabikes.

Component Deals & Selection / Re: Plasti Dip
« on: December 30, 2014, 10:37:47 AM »
That's useful info, I was planning on using gold metaliser, might be worth waiting for the new gloss topcoat, is apparently much more glossy and from the DYC videos the higher the gloss the more slippery the finish.

You could probably paint over the plasti-dip with something else, but would have to research it first.

I'd imagine the results would be similar to the first section of
Sticks but makes pealing a lot harder, also if the paint layer is too brittle it could crack on impact as the softer plasti-dip underneath it flexes.

Road Bike Frames, Wheels & Components / Re: Kevlar Carbon Fiber Rims
« on: December 05, 2014, 10:39:51 AM »
Kevlar is also really susceptible to UV damage, so long as it's just the cosmetic outer layer I don't see it being an issue but then they're just tarted up normal rims.
