29+ & 27+ / 29+ wheels on a 27.5+ Frame
« on: June 19, 2020, 04:23:32 PM »

Quick question. Has anyone tried 29+ wheels/tires on a frame designed for 27.5+? I'm looking at a frame that is a 27.5+ design with 430mm chainstays and looks to have plenty of room around the 27.5 x 3.0 tire. Other than raising the bottom bracket (which I would like) seems like it would fit. I'd like to use a 29 x 3.0 but would settle for a 29 x 2.8 if I had to. Any one tried it?

29er / New DengFu M06 Build Coming
« on: June 22, 2017, 11:46:37 AM »
Hey people,

I had an incident happen to me this past weekend that is prompting a M06 build. I currently have a CS-057 hardtail purchased from Peter and have been riding it for about a year and a half. I love the bike! It is fast, responsive and light - 22lbs with a Sram 1x10 drivetrain. I've been having issues with the drivetrain jumping gears and i know from experience it's time to replace the cassette, chain and possibly the crank gear. I'm currently running a RaceFace Cinch NW 30T. I figure if i'm going to spend the money to revamp the drivetrain why not switch all of my components over to a new frame???  ::)

The trails I ride in North Carolina are woodsy single track. Mountain Biking and Trail Running are becoming very popular here and the trails are starting to get beat up. Getting very rooty. This has made me think about going back to a full suspension bike. I still have my Giant 26 FS and had taken it for a ride the other week and was surprised how much i liked it! I haven't been on the bike since i built the 057. If i can combine the small bump compliance of a FS with the benefits of a carbon 29er then i might really have something i'd love  ;D

So i have been keeping an eye on a few 29er FS here on the forum, mainly the CS-821, CS-FS29 amd the M06. I like the M06 the best as i do prefer the one piece rear triangle. I like the single pivot design with shorter chainstays and slack headtube. It's built more like the Yeti ASRc and i like all of the attributes that design has. I have been dealing with Melody from DengFu on the purchase as i find her very responsive and trustworthy. I purchased a carbon road frame from her 2 years ago and love it! It is first class and performs better than i could have imagined.

As of me writing this, i have not given Melody the official go ahead. I will probably pull the trigger in the next couple of days. Unfortunately i deliberate too much in my head on decision such as these  ::) So my fellow Chinertowners, i would like any feedback anyone has to offer. I have messaged with a few M06 owners already and have been pleased with their comments. If i do purchase the M06 i will document my build here for all who might have interest. Some of the issues prior builds have come across have supposedly been resolved so we'll see if that's true. Thanks for reading and again, any thoughts are welcome  ;D

29er / Dengfu M06

Hey,

Does anyone know anything about this new frame on Dengfu's site M06? Looks to be of modern geometry specs and i like the integrated rear triangle. Also, do we have anyone on here that can model the suspension characteristics?

29er / CS-057 Tire Choices
« on: July 13, 2016, 04:08:08 PM »
Hey all,

I recently built a CS-057 and have been riding it for a few months now. I have to say i love the bike!!! Coming off a Giant FS 26er is like night and day  ;D

One question i have is with tires. The bike now has Maxxis Ikon 2.20s front and rear. There are times where i feel i need more plushness or versatility. I built the bike as a XC bike but to be honest, i mostly do trail riding with it. I do have rear grip issues especially on roots and rock (more so when they're wet). I am thinking about switching to Maxxis Ikon 2.35s front and rear. I hear they are a much different tire than the 2.20s. My thought is the extra volume might be just what i'm looking for. Help make the bike a more "trail bike" than a pure XC bike but without losing too much in the speed/efficiency department.

Also I've been reading about how some people classify XC bikes in 3 different categories: XC, Aggressive XC and Trail. Does anyone have any thoughts on these classifications? I guess in a perfect world i'm trying to turn my bike into an Aggressive XC or even a Trail bike. Makes sense???

29er / Tubeless Tires Discussion
« on: May 13, 2016, 09:08:34 AM »
Welcome adbl, glad you like your CS-057, I built mine about 3 years ago and it's still going strong.  As for tubeless tires, make sure you shake and spin the wheels around flipping them over and doing so on both side.  It's good to also leave them lying horizontal for a few ours, flipping them occasionally.  If they hold air overnight they should be ready to go.

Please post a picture in the 29er picture thread when you get a chance.

Yeah, I've been doing the rotation sequence every few hours. The front seems to be sealed up pretty well but the rear is almost flat after pumping it up last night around 7:00pm. I purchased Easton EC90 wheels and Maxxis Ikon tubeless ready specifically for tubeless use. They are both supposed to be UST specific. This is my first venture into the tubeless realm so i'm learning as i go along.
