I am selling the following:

2016 Fox Factory 32 SC in Fox Team Orange with Kashima Coat.  Has Kabolt axle and is 100x15mm.  This is the same fork half the field was running in the world cup.  I paid $900 new, it's in great condition, a few minor scratches, and has new seals.

2016 RockShox Reba RL.  This fork was an opportunity buy for me as a backup for the Fox.  I bought it off a friend who bought a Specialized Epic and immediately upgraded the fork when the bike was purchased.  I used it last year for about 4 days while I had the Fox serviced.  It literally has less than 50 miles on it and is the higher end version of the REBA that shipped on the 2016 Epics.

I'm willing to take any reasonable offer.

Hit me up on Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/PubMustard or email me at tjones@Tangerinepop.com for fastest response.

Some pics of both of the forks below.

29er / Any sources for a boosted hardtail?
« on: July 26, 2019, 07:23:09 AM »
So I am retiring my CS-MB01 frame.  My new bike is boost (110 x 15 front and 148 x 12 rear).  Since my hub on my MB01 rear is trashed, I have sourced some new boost hubs which will make it nice for me to interchange wheels between bikes.

I looked at every frame on Peter's site and none of the hardtails are boost rear.  Does anyone have any idea where I can find a boosted hard tail frame? Even better, a boost rear with threaded BB.

I wish they would upgrade the 057 to the wider rear, I'd jump on that in a skinny minute!

Well, this sucks...  r2-bike.com had been my go-to for several SRAM builds.  Apparently, SRAM has put a stop to their international shipping.  Does anyone know where to source SRAM for prices close to theirs?  From anywhere?  If it has to come from overseas I can certainly wait.

29er / 1st place first race Go Nuts series (Georgia) on my CSMB01
« on: February 04, 2019, 11:49:03 PM »
I posted this in the 29er topic since that's what I ride.  It would be nice to have a 'ride chat' or discussion topic for everyone to discuss rides and events on their bikes.

Anyway, So I decided to give it a whirl this year and see what this racing thing is all about.  Can't believe I actually won my age bracket!  On the second lap I punctured my front tire and it leaked down to about 6 lbs, but I rode that badboy anyway, LOL!  Sketchy and it cost me about 2 minutes but I still managed to pull it off.

What I really found out though is that I out-classed my competition in bike handling and descents.  2 of the guys were definitely strong riders and would probably out climb me on a hill, but most of these climbs had granite step ups and the course was quite technical.

Loads of fun and I recommend any of you who have thought about entering a race to go do it.  You meet lots of nice people with common interests too. :-)

29er / Another 29 AM bike has shown up.
« on: December 07, 2018, 10:08:05 AM »
Now that I live in north Georgia, an enduro/trail class bike has been on my wishlist.  I even took the time to demo several bikes including the new Trek Fuel (130mm travel F&R), Yeti SB 130 (150F 130R), Pivot Switchblade (150F 135R), and Santa Cruz Hightower (140F 135R).

My favorites have been the Pivot and Yeti, the Pivot being a little heavier, but worked better for me... These are "point and descend" bikes meaning point it downhill and hang on, the bike will do the work.  I've hit 32 mph once on my hardtail on P2 trail which was super sketchy and at about the edge of that bikes's capabilities.  On the Pivot, I hit 43 and only got on the brakes because with the trees going by so fast and steep ledges to fall off, 1 mistake could be catastrophic.  However, at that ridiculous speed on P2, not once did I ever feel the bike was even close to threshold. That thing ate up all the rough trail sections and railed corners hard... What an experience and now I know why people get addicted to descending on a worthy bike!

So on MTBR.com I stumbled across TanTan's website and found this:
http://www.tantancycling.com/index.php?_m=mod_product&_a=view&p_id=689

Initially, looking at the linkage, it would appear to have good swing characteristics, similar Pivot and Santa Cruz.  Geometry looks pretty good except for the chain-stay length.  Not sure having a rear tire trailing in another zipcode would do much good, especially on climbing (and I do a lot of that).

So, I am curious on a few opinions from others who know more about geometry for Enduro bikes. What would be one's opinion as to how this bike would ride?

Vendor Discussion & Reviews / Peter @ Carbon Speed
« on: August 30, 2018, 02:36:05 PM »
Hey Everyone,

I have been trying to reach Peter for a few weeks. We messaged briefly about 3 weeks ago, but I haven't heard back and I need to get a frame shipped and a few other things.

Maybe it's a Chinese New Year or some other holiday of the sort going on right now?

I've been combing around to see what's out there, but the 821 seems to be the only one with even close to a trail spec as far as suspension goes.  I'd really like to find something in the 130mm to 140mm travel of possible before I just completely destroy my MB01.  Granted it's held up great, but I'm pushing it at it's limits now since I live where there are hills and mountains.  I need something beyond XC class.

Suggestions?

29er / Moving to Acworth GA Dec 28th 2017 - Right by Allatoona Creek
« on: December 14, 2017, 08:27:35 AM »
Hey Guys,

So we got a signed acceptance on an offer for a house in Acworth GA.  I will be moving there on Dec 28th 2017.  The house is in Camden Pointe and there is an private access trail which accesses Mason's Bluff trail in the Allatoona Creek park.  Seriously.... 100 yards away and no more having to load up a car and drive 45 minutes or more just to get to a trail system.

Anyway,  I didn't know if any of you on here live in or near the area, but if so, please send me a private message if you want to hit some trails, talk Chinese carbon and what not...

So my buddy gave me his old Scott Scale. It's a heavy beast that had a stripped out crank arm.  Being it's old, non-tapered steerer, 9mm QR dropouts, and a rusty Suntour XC fork, I didn't want to sink any money into it, just minimal to get it working so my wife could tool around on it.

In the process of crank searching, I decided to order one of those sets off AliExpress that include the bottom bracket. I think I paid just over $40 for it.

Anyway, I have to admit the crank and BB are pretty darn solid. I installed it and took the bike over to the boat dock and did some crazy drops on it and other stuff... Basically tortured it the best I could, but since it has flat pedals, I think I tortured my shins more than the bike, Haha!

Here are a few pics of the crank close up and installed.  If you are looking for a cheap crank or backup for BSA, it's definitely worth the price.

Fat Bikes / 2.8" Tire on an 80mm rim
« on: December 13, 2017, 11:35:02 PM »
So my son has this little Tykes Bikes 20" aluminum fat bike.  The stock tires were ridiculously heavy and stiff to the point he could ride it with almost no pressure... I dub named them the 'Run-Flats'.

So searching for tire options, most are not available in 20" therefore pickin's are slim.  On a whim, I decided to order a couple of specialized tires that are 2.8" and see what would happen.  I have a friend running a 3.0 on a 60mm, so I thought I'd give it a shot....

Well, it surpassed our expectations!  Aside from the benefits of a better made tire, they are about 680g wire bead which is way better than the 3.3lbs monsters that were on there.  also the tire seems to actually flex and track nicely for him over rocky and loose terrain, unlike the run-flats that would transfer most of the bumps up through the bike.

So, if any of you thought about running a smaller plus size tire on your fatty rims, it can be done.  I would imagine the benefits he sees would transfer over to the larger bikes.

Here are some pics of the build:

29er / 29er "Trail" travel suspension (120 - 130mm) frames
« on: September 24, 2017, 08:53:18 PM »
Hey Guys,

So I got some answers on the 821 and thanks for that.  However, between the potential pivot issue and it being a 110 rear with 120 front travel, I am thinking I might want a little more of a 'Trail' setup.  Does anyone know anything about this bike (CFM356)?
http://www.carbonda.com/mountain/full-suspension/cfm356.html

Travel is not listed, but it does have the dual pivot lower, so I am assuming at least a 130mm.  Any data available?

Hey guys,

I'm going to be here until October 1st.  Already I've been riding Blanket's Creek, Allatoona Creek Park, and Taylor Randahl.  I may try and venture north up to Raccoon Mountain again, but I definitely don't want to ride that solo.

If any of you guys want to ride, let me know.  I've got plenty of free time while I am here.

29er / CS-821 Has anyone built one yet?
« on: August 27, 2017, 08:58:48 PM »
I'm thinking this season of building an FS, but I've already ridden my hard tail on a few trails in Tennessee and North GA, and I am thinking that rather than do a pure XC build, I may want to do something that can handle a little more trail.

Does anyone have any thoughts about this frame?

Thanks!

Hey everyone,

I will be passing through Chattanooga, TN the weekend of 7/29/2017, and have set aside that entire Sunday (30th) to hit Raccoon Mountain.  I will have a couple of buddies with me, but I noticed a couple of members in here are from Georgia.  It would be great to meet any of you and do a little riding.

If anyone is interested, just post and I'll put up more details as I have them.

29er / Anyone recognize this frame?
« on: March 28, 2017, 10:49:12 PM »
I know they sell the 036 branded with their name, but not sure what this one is.  Was hoping someone might know.  The owner of the bike is a friend of mine.
