Been away from the site a long time, and was hoping to get a headstart on my search.

Is there an open mold 29er HT carbon frame with threaded BB and geo designed for a 100mm fork? I have a CS057, and would like a 27.2 seatpost, a bit of compliance in the rear triangle and slacker HTA. Bonus if weight is actual around 1000g for a 19".

I've seen DIYCarbon frames for $425 USD: https://www.diycarbonbikes.com/collections/hardtailframes/products/2018-29er-dcb-xc27-carbon-mountain-bike-frame.
Haven't looked at eBay or PB classifieds. Being away so long it gets confusing trying to catch up on the options. The DIY site has the SC Highball clone and they mention" comfort, but the last Highball that I demo'd years ago was anything but comfortable. Maybe the new open mold version is?

Thanks for any help.

29er / Hong Fu sale month of April FM258 and FM058
« on: April 10, 2018, 07:45:28 AM »
FM258 and FM058 are going to cost about $550/set if you buy less than 5 sets.
If you buy more than 4 sets, the price is $490/set.

Was told frames ready in May.

Looking to build small 27.5 HT up for short friend. Did some searching, and it seems all head angles are 69.5 or 70.
I'm probably missing something so I'll ask: anything with a HA not super steep? If it matters we'd be running a 100 but could do 120 fork if it didn't mess up the seat angle (looking for no less than 73d either way).

Thanks.

Component Deals & Selection / new rims purchased from hulkbike001
« on: June 22, 2017, 11:22:49 PM »
My last purchase went well and weight was spot-on and build was good. Ordered new rims. Prices going up as the seller gains traction (no pun intended). Wanted to order from Peter but my friend had specific internal and external dimensions. Obviously not a deal breaker, but it's his dream build and he insisted so I couldn't buy from the always-helpful Peter.

10% coupon ebay now. Here are the rims.

The North American branch of Light Bicycles wants $210 to deliver a replacement 29er rim. I then find an ebay seller (Hulk Bikes) with what appears to be the same rim for much less: http://www.ebay.com/itm/29-inch-carbon-MTB-Rim-Clincher-tubeless-compatible-30mm-width-32-holes-UD-matte-/122477053113?hash=item1c843384b9:g:oaIAAOSwlndZCXjx

Having read way too many threads about "all the rims come from same town, it's a trading company middle man" is there anything I'm missing with the ebay option? Weight seems to be within 10 grams. Dimensions pretty much same: https://us.lightbicycle.com/shop/29-rm29c19-30mm-carbon-rim/

Couldn't find any realworld recent feeback on the Hulk seller rims. Hoping to get some here. Thanks!

29er / cs057 fork offset preference?
« on: April 10, 2017, 06:58:16 AM »
Anyone try a 51mm offset and 46mm offset on the CS057?

I have a SID 100mm with 46 and a Fox 100mm with 51mm. The Fox is a shorter A2C.

Let's say all things being equal (sag, tire, pressure, etc) does the 57 frame ride better with one offset or is it a case of the rider learns to adjust quickly with whatever offset is used.

Component Deals & Selection / take chance on $15 NECO
« on: March 31, 2017, 06:37:43 AM »
About to place order for 057, and it seems a few warn to stay away from the NECO headset, but a search shows few riders have no issue for years.

I'm a Cane Creek 40 series kind of rider, no need to spend big bucks on a headset, but is the overwhelming consensus "stay away from the $15 Neco" and go with a $30 Cane Creek, or is the Neco a good way to save a few bucks?

Thanks. Great forum (obviously joined moments ago).
