I recently broke the derailleur hanger on my Chinese carbon fat bike build.  My LBS can't match it or find a replacement.

Does anyone have any tips- besides contacting the manufacturer (which I've tried) to find a replacement?

I bought my frame on ebay from velocarbon.

Any tips are greatly appreciated!

Fat Bikes / 135mm hub use on Bluto RockShox 150mm?????
« on: December 30, 2014, 11:59:43 AM »
I purchased some carbon fat bike wheels on ebay that have a 135mm front hub.  I wanted to use it on the RockShox Bluto that has a 150mm thru axle.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I could to this without having to rebuild my wheel with a 150mm hub?

I don't think I can use spacers because of the disk brakes- but didn't know if there is a kit out there or something I'm not thinking about.

Thanks for any feedback or solutions.

Fat Bikes / Durability of Carbon Fat Bike Rims- any feedback?
« on: December 10, 2014, 10:58:59 AM »
I just purchased some carbon fat bike rims from Velocarbon on ebay.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/First-Look-2015-Fatbike-Carbon-Wheelset-Tubeless-Clincher-Sram-XX1-Shimano-/221532092927?pt=US_Wheels_Wheelsets&var=&hash=item79293a09c3

They are 80mm wide- (I know some of you are running wider).

My local bike shop told me that these are really best suited for snow riding because they don't hold up to technical trail riding.  I live in very rocky and technical part of the country and was looking forward to using my fat bike build on the rocks.

Any feedback from any of you who have ridden carbon rims on technical trails?  I'm planning on running a Bluto 120mm fork in the front, but am not a light rider (205 lbs) so- am still a little concerned before banging up the rims.

I'm doing my first bike build on a carbon fat bike (frame from Velocarbon off ebay).  It's a 19" frame and I ordered the carbon wheelset too (also from Velocarbon)- I wouldn't recommend ordering from them, FYI.  You can get the same stuff and slightly cheaper from Ican.  Also,  I already got a 120 mm Rockshox Bluto- super excited!

I just need help choosing some components.  I can't decide how high end to go considering I'm a 205lb.  rider and paying a lot of money for a few grams may miss the forest for the trees.

The bottom braket is BB30 and the rear spacing is 190mm.

Sillly question- but I haven't seen a crankset with BB from Shimano that would fit a BB30?  Is that correct?  Most I see are BB70.  Is there a way to convert it?  Any thoughts on using Shimano, Race Face or SRAM?

I see plenty of SRAM and some RaceFace BB30 out there.

I was looking at doing a 1X11 set up, but not sure if the price point over doing a 1X10 is worth the money.  Any suggestions on that?

I'm thinking of using the Specialized Ground Controls for my tires- but not sure if I should try to go tubeless or not- any thoughts?

Lastly, any thoughts on doing a groupset deal or is it better to purchase things individually?

Any comments and links are appreciated gents- thanks for the great forum and comments.
