Nothing specifically for a 24" wheel but if you look a couple of threads down, I have a build thread for my daughter's 14" bike. As long as you keep the crank arm length proportional, you should be able to run 24" wheels in it just fine.

do you need special seat rail clamp for them? I am using an old Thomson seatpost and don't know if the clamp would work for those carbon rail

Do you have a picture of the clamp? Generally speaking, if the post clamps from the top and bottom of the rail you are all set. The ones that have one horizontal bolt for clamping and the clamping forces are on the sides of the rails will not work.

That is odd for the rear travel being different. The 67 degree HA seems to coincide with 130/122 more so than 120/100 though.

Yup. Well you can with the CS-FS27. I've already checked with Peter on that. He did mention that it isn't quite ready for the market yet. Still doing some fine tuning.

I put the WTB Bronson Race 2.1's on my kids bike (same frame as your using) and they seem good so far. They might be slightly more aggressive than you are looking for though. I weighed both and the claimed weight of 600g is spot on. They setup tubeless nicely with Stans Crest rims. Also, Nashbar is running a 25% promotion so you can get 3 for $57 shipped (in the US). I know they are bigger than you requested but they are relatively light and really affordable.

What's your plan for wheels? I have some 26" Reynolds carbon mountain bike wheels that I've been debating about selling. Inner width is 17mm and they are on Reynolds hubs, made by Chosen, with DT Revolution spokes. Weight is just over 1500g.

I have been checking out these two for a friend of mine. Both look promising but the XM one is pretty slack. I've had great luck with Peter at XM so I'm wanting to go that route as long as the geo will work. But I think that's the one you said you didn't want as the HA is off.

To be honest, I am leery of getting a chiner frame without a unified rear triangle. I'm not sure why really but I am. I've always been a fan of the unified triangle mainly for stiffness but I just foresee issues with flexing and getting bushings and such.

« on: March 08, 2017, 05:22:01 PM »
Are you sure you mean the 106? That is a fat bike with a BSA 100mm bottom bracket. They do have the 078 which is a 29+ bike. I started a thread on that frame in the plus section about a year ago.

Thank you all. I guess I finally got it now ???
The difference between the boost and non boost version of the SRAM crankset is probably just the 32T ring that come with it. That has either a 3 or 6mm offset.

Correct.
The BB30 has a different setup with spacers and such. The BSA and BB92 both use the same GXP cranksets just different BB's. One easy way to tell the difference between GXP and BB30 cranksets is that GXP spindles are on the drive side arm and BB30 spindles are on the non drive side arm.

We will put an SRAM Eagle on it. Does it need the boost version of the crankset or is the frame already takes care of the 52mm chainline?
The groupset was bought complete, but I'm wondering the crank need to be exchanged.
The BB is BB92, and the width of the BB shell is... 92mm !

The others are correct. The standard offset it 6mm, boost is 3mm, and BB30 cranksets use 0mm offset. If you have a BB92 bottom bracket, definitely get the 3mm offset. With the BSA stuff, you can shift a GXP crank inboard by using a non drive side bb spacer so you can essentially use a 0mm offset ring with one NDS spacer and still be good. But with the BB92 bb, you can't do that. So you really should get the right offset chainring.

As far as the crankset itself goes, you just need a GXP BB92 bottom bracket. It will need to be pressed in but otherwise, all Sram GXP cranks will work once it's installed. My daughters bike has a BB92 bottom bracket and a Sram Stylo GXP crankset that was previously installed on my SS with BSA bottom bracket.

I am big fan of the Sram GXP setup. For me, it has been perfect and I have 5 bikes at home with cranksets that are completely interchangeable. Well, sort of, my daughters is a bit short at 150mm.

Since this is in the 29er section, I'm assuming you are looking for 29" rims. This will be my 4th season on my Nextie's. They have been great with no issues whatsoever. I also have 2 sets from Peter that have been perfect too.

Nextie has an eBay store with some rims listed under $150 with free shipping. That may be slightly cheaper on eBay but I'm not sure it would save enough money to warrant the risk. I'm all for trying the cheap options but not for a $20 savings.

I'm in Maine, the extreme northeast. Virginia in April is perfect. Nice and warm but not summer time hot either. The last time I was in Virginia was 7 years ago to pick up a vehicle. Unfortunately we mix salt with our road sand and it makes it very hard to find an older used vehicle that isn't rusted out. At the time I was looking for a 1996 or 1997 Toyota Landcruiser and the only ones I found local had the frames covered in rust.

Well I tried... ;D

I forgot you aren't in the US. If I recall, you're in Denmark correct? I can bring some to you in July but you will have to meet me in Switzerland.  :o

This one from Backcountry is in my list. They have 133, 145, and 155 widths. $170 marked down to $32 is tough to beat especially considering you have Backcountry's warranty and support.

Here is another popular saddle. Ergon SR3 carbon retailing at $249 marked down to $60. Nashbar is always having 25% off coupons so you might be able to get it cheaper. The large is in stock and measures 155.
