What year is your Reba? If you're not sure, look at the serial number. If I recall correctly, the first two is the week of the year, then there is a letter, than the 4 place is the year it was made. So 34T5XXXXXXX would be the 34th week of 2015.

And yes, mine came with 135qr dropouts, 142x12 dropouts and the 142 axle. It should come with the headset too. The headsets are cheap but mine has been holding up great.

I made out pretty good. The wife got me a Reverb Stealth for my 5010 and some Haven 35 carbon bars for my WW062 singlespeed. And I fell for Steep&Cheaps marketing and bought myself last years SC 5010v2 frame at 40% off.

How was St Thomas? St Thomas / St John is on our short list for a July 2017 vacation with the kids. Maui is on the list too as I lived there for 2.5 years before having kids. Other than airfare, Maui can be done rather inexpensive.

How do you rate the WW062? Its a nice looking frame, Ive asked WW for a price on in but can't decide on BB PF30 Or BSA.... Does the weight saving of PF outweigh the convenience of BSA....The BSA looks more solid, I have both cranks at home but don't like the bearing pre load adjuster on my GX100 1x, the BSA GPX is so easy to maintain and change for the sake of 100g penalty.... Why are you wanting to change to 120mm, have you looked to see how it will change the angles on the frame.

I am really enjoying the frame and I don't have any issues at all with it. I bought mine from Sobatostore on eBay. I went with the BSA as it is just simpler to use. 5 out of 7 bikes in my house are BSA with Sram GXP cranks as I like to keep things simple. I'm not sure if one is really better than the other, it's just my preference.

I want to swap it to 120mm mainly because I want to try it. It only takes a $30 airshaft and since my fork will be apart anyway, I figured why not. Realistically, it's a single speed and the 70.5 head angle is fine for where I ride and how i ride this bike. It should just put the HA at 69.5 which is still ins't really slack.

For the price, I think this frame is tough to beat. The geometry with the shortish chain stays is super fun for a HT. I honestly like it so much more than I expected. And at $350, it isn't a huge amount if you don't completely like it. One warning though, resale on chinese carbon frames sucks. But if my math serves me right, loosing 100% of $350 is still a LOT less than losing 50% of $1900, which is about average for a name brand frame.

Which frame? I have 100mm SID on my WW 062 that I plan to bump to 120mm this winter. So I have no real input at this point.  ;D

Component Deals & Selection / Re: Shimano 640B and XTR
« on: December 26, 2016, 08:44:54 AM »
Hi Everyone
Does anyone knows if the Shimano Zee 640B Brakes levers are compatible with the Shimano XTR 9000 Rear - I-Spec II.
This is driving me nuts. I can't find any information on these two products if there are compatible.

Thanks
Christian

No they will not work together. The B in 640B stand for I-spec B type of mount. Do you already have the shifter? I believe the XT M8000 shifters are available in i-spec II, i-spec B and traditional clamp types.

years ago I had a 17" frame and broken in the seat clamp zone after 3000km (Marin Team Issue) but I dont know caused the seat post, use a 27.5 wheels in a 26" frame or a material fatigue. if I choose the 18.5" I need a 80 or 90mm stem I think.

That can be caused by not having enough seat post inserted into the frame. It will put too much strain on the frame in the weld junction. The frame makers always state that you need to have at least 4 inches inserted into the frame. More is better. I would go with the 18.5 with a straight seat post and a short stem to start. I am running a 60mm stem and a 20mm setback post on mine.

I´m looking for this frame but a dont know what size fit me better. With a 81.5cm leg inseam and 1.78cm height, 17" or 18.5"?

Greetings

I'm roughly 1.81m tall and have the 18.5. I feel it fits me perfectly. I don't think I could make a 17 work but you might as it looks like you could go either way. How do you like your bikes to fit normally?

Workswell has a 29er (WCB-M-108) that looks to be more trail oriented, although travel is similar to the IP-036:  (http://www.workswellbikes.com/web/productlist/21.html)

Not trying to hijack the thread but it looks like Peter is offering the same frame. I've dealt with both companies and have had great luck with both. But I would definitely go with XMCarbonspeed if the frames were the same.

The plane does look great! Most completed kit planes I have seen don't look nearly that nice! This is what I get to look at every day. The second picture is what $20,000 USD looks like in helicopter parts. Now back to your regularly scheduled program...

Very nice! It makes mine at roughly 9.5kg seem like a boat anchor. So what's the plane in the background? It appears as the wings are folded.

Steep and cheap has some great prices on Rockshox forks right now. And don't forget to factor in the $40 coupon code and the 9% cash back that ActiveJunky is offering. A 27.5 Pike RCT3 for $375 shipped with the coupon code then you get $37 back from AJ. Or the SID XX 29er 100mm fork for $396 shipped with $39 cashback. Or for $10 more you can get the SID RL in the Boost 29/27.5+ version.

Also, the Ibis 941 carbon wheelset with a DT 350 rear hub (front hub is generic but who cares about the front as long as it doesn't fail) for $648 and $65 cash back.

I have ordered 2 sets of rims and couple of small parts. Peter is great to work with. One set of rims were custom painted and the color match was perfect and so was the paint job.

29+ & 27+ / Re: New CarbonSpeed 27.5+/29+ Frame (CS-496)
« on: December 13, 2016, 06:12:12 AM »
A BB92 BB takes any standard crankset (the same as BSA 68 and 73 mm), it's just that with BB92 the bearings are inside the frame when they are outside for 68/73mm BB.
I finally got it, BB92. I'll only need a pressfit BB. Very good. So the Q factor is within a standard range (3,25 tires -> wider chainstays?), no fatsize crank spindles needed?

Once you'll get into the + size you'll just stick to it, trust me. Pick whatever rims width you want but not for such a wrong reason.
Ok, you're right. It's stupid to consider options that will never happen. This bike will be a 29+, basta.
BUT: I couldn't find any 29+ carbon wheelsets with 50mm on aliexpress or alibaba other than the ICAN wheelset for 590EUR with Powerway hubs (ICAN website) or Novatec hubs (ebay), Peter as well only lists the 40mm wheelset. I'm not capable of building wheels myself. Any recommendations?

Crankset - Standard 68/73 cranksets work fine. Yes you just need a BB92 bottom bracket. A longer spindle crankset will NOT work with the bottom bracket.

Wheels - It's good to consider it if you think it will definitely happen. But in reality, swapping tires is a pain in the but and probably won't happen after the first time or two. Peter may not list the wheels on the site but he can build any of the rims to the hubs he has listed.

As far as rims go, are you talking about outer or inner width? 40 outer which is roughly 34ish inner are too narrow in my opinion. I'm very happy with 30mm inner rims and 2.3 tires so going to a 3 inch tire on 34mm inner just seems backwards and counterproductive. I'm running the RM950C rims from Peter and I'm super happy with them. They are laced to Hope Pro4 hubs with DT Swiss Aerolite spokes (same as Sapim CX-Ray) and brass nipples (32 hole 3 cross). The weight was 1850ish grams. Using lighter hubs like DT 240's, aluminum nipples and doing a 28 hole 2 cross build should easily put you at 1700 grams.

Check out the pictures I put in post #168. You can somewhat see the cutouts. I can try and take a picture but it will have to wait until next week.
