Here are a couple of pictures. It seems I can't figure out the new Imgur site and have the pictures actually viewable without clicking the link.

It has got to be pretty close. I have ordered things from the US that have taken longer than that.  I wanted to get the order placed early so that I would be sure to have it before Christmas. I guess I didn't need to sweat that one.

Quick update. I placed the order on Nov 8th and the frame arrived on Nov 16th. That's pretty darn quick! 8 days from placing the order to the northeast US. Everything was well packaged and appears to be good. Quality wise, it looks to be on par with other Chinese carbon vendors. So far, I'm very pleased.

Component Deals & Selection / Re: Easton Haven 35 carbon bars for $64

I have 35mm 760mm wide bars on 2 of my bikes. Only one that doesn't is my SS. My plus bike has a rigid fork and I haven't noticed any issues with stiffness. I think they tend to use less material to make them lighter than their 31.8 equivalents as far as width goes. But yes, most of that is personal preference so your results may vary.

Even if paying the $10 shpiiing fee (orders over $100 ship free though) the total is still at least $30 cheaper than any US retailer. I've had good luck finding Easton bars on Amazon in the $100 to $110 price range but nothing ever below $70.

Chainreaction cycles has all colors of the Haven 35 carbon bars for $63.99. Might be narrow for some at 750mm but it's a pretty sweet price on some name brand bars.

I measured it to be a half inch or 12 to 13 mm's. You should be fine with that setup. You can always put one spacer under the non drive side cup to help with clearance.

I use the Blackspire Stinger. It's the BB mount and it's actually a tensioner as I use the 062 as a singlespeed. I'll take the measurement tomorrow afternoon.

Thanks for your answer.

1) The powermeter does add thickness to the crankarm. Should be around 6-7 mm on the inside of the crankarm.
2) The Q-Factor of the X0 crankset is 168mm. The X9 crankset has 171 mm. As I use X0 (right) und X9 (left) I end up with 170 mm. (with a little error in the measurement maybe..)

With the wider q-factor cranks, you should be all set. I can measure the clearance when I get home on Sunday. If you go with the BSA threaded BB, you can put a spacer under the non drive side cup to help a bit too. I run a spacer of sorts (chain guide) under the drive side and everything still clears with plenty of room.

X9 and X0 cranks both work fine. 2 questions though. 1) Does the power meter add thickness to the crankarm? 2) what is the q-factor of the crankset?

I believe you are correct. One thing that I do like is that AliExpress (AliPay) doesn't release the funds until the seller states that everything is ok. It's probably a little more risk for the seller but as the buyer, it gives a better sense of protection.

I would love to take all of it and build one for the wife as a winter bike since she has been asking about fat bikes. Unfortunately she is still in sticker shock from her TB3 build and makes it more than clear that she is done buying bikes for awhile.   ;D

Quick update. The frame has shipped already which is 2 days from ordering.

I might be interested in some of the parts. The crankset and brakeset could be used on my daughters upcoming build.

Is the crankset the hollow version or is it concave on the inside of the crank arm? Length? price?

Brakeset price with out the rotors?

And my 29+ could use a fork. Not that I need to spend the money on that right now but..... price?

Thanks and enjoy the 9.8

My next build has officially begun. This time for daughter #2, the AR in GKARTA.
I ordered the frame on November 7th and hopefully it's here before Santa as he is the official delivery dude. The frame is sold from a bunch of different vendors but I bought this one from Tideace or Haideli on AliExpress. It's also sold on eBay by Tideace and Dashine bikes and on Amazon by Fasteam. I had several emails with Amy and her communication has been great and she informed me that Tideace and Haideli are the same company but Fasteam and Dashine are different vendors. Here is the link for the frame I purchased.

So on with the build details. The frame will get the household standard of GKARTA decals with a color preference of yellow. The only thing that isn't high on the color list is the white fork. But since it was new from Amazon for $165, white it is. Unless someone has a black Reba 27.5 fork they want to trade for a Revelation RCT3.

Frame: Tideace FM-M001 14" frame 3K weave in matte finish
Fork: RockShox Revelation RCT3 27.5 100mm travel 15mm thru axle
Bar: Chiner carbon flat bar 660 wide
Grips: ESI Racer's Edge yellow
Stem: Wake 40mm
Seatpost: GUB 31.6 straight post
Saddle: Codream 230x140 kids seat from Amazon
Brakes: Shimano Deore M615
Rotors: Avid G3 160mm 6-bolt rotors (painted ones from AliExpress)
Wheels: Stans ZTR Crest 32h, DT Swiss 350 hubs, DT Swiss Competition spokes, Sapim aluminum self locking nipples
Tires: WTB Bronson Race 26x2.1
Crank: SRAM Stylo GXP 1.1 150mm (cut down from 175)
Chainring: 32T N/W gold ring
Bottom Bracket: SRAM GXP BB92
Pedals: Race Face Chester
Shifter: Shimano SLX M7000
Rear Derailleur: Shimano SLX M7000
Cassette: Shimano XT M8000 11-42 11 speed
Chain: Sram NX PC-1110

Weight: no idea but I hope it's in the 23 pound ballpark. 20 lbs would be great but some of the parts are on the portly side so I don't think it's doable with the current budget. I have thought about re-lacing the wheels to some Stan's Crest rims which would drop some weight and gain 1.5mm in inner width but I'm not sure if it's a worthy investment.

I'll keep this thread updated as the parts arrive.

All in all, would I trade my bike for the Tallboy CC? Maybe not. And we talk about a bike that probably costs 3x mine. Only the price tag would get me to trade it, but if you ask me what I want to ride everyday, then that's my CS-496.

That's why it's just foolish to only have one bike! My wife has the yellow Tallboy 3 and it is an absolute blast to ride. But you are right that it still isn't a hardtail when it comes to climbing. I will say that it's one of the best climbing squishy bikes I have ridden but it's not the same as a rigid back end.
