29er / Re: No idea what this frame is, is it ok?

Happily there's not only one   8). You will find exactly this frame in xcbarny's thread 'Dashine Bike Carbon 29er Singlespeed Build' purchased from Dashine. Upon his review and build I also just ordered the frame (and a cool bar). The contact so far is a delight. Quick and precise answers. It took them about 5 work days to send the frame. The tracking says it landed in Switzerland already (2 days later). Let's see if my frame is just as nice as xcbarny's.

I was especially referring to the 041 when saying that a set back sp might be too flexy (also depending on the post). I agree with you that the bike setup is also individual, but I would try to minimize the horizontal distance between saddle and bb to achieve a better power transmission.

Component Deals & Selection / Re: Shopping experiences with bike24.com?

I just know the german version - bike24.de. They are pretty big in Germany. Seems to be the same company. I've ordered there several times. No issues.

I was wondering anyways why one would use a set back seat post. It changes the intended bike geo. You would sit too far behind the BB. Plus I would say a 27.2mm set back seat post might flex too much on the 041.
I'm curious to hear from the next test ride.

@Carbon_Dude:
what trails are you riding? I never rode 1x11 and I really should. But I doubt that I would be happy with 1x. (I'm rather light compared to size.)
Firstly, the range for the marathons I ride would probably not sufficient. If I chose a gear to climb 3000ft with steep sections I would not be able to keep up on the long descents.
Secondly, the gear jumps would be too big on sections with little speed change.

Still I need to try a 1x11 to see if my theory is correct.

I wonder how the saddle rides. Cool build by the way!

Hey congrats to you and great your family seems well!
Small wonder you didn't have much opportunity to ride. It'll probably stay like that for some time.  ;)

But still. Your description of your last ride sounds really good. I hope I can place an order soon.

Hi,
did you have the opportunity to do more rides and impressions on your new bike?

My choice fell on the Dashine frame xcbarny ordered. See "Frame specs for 29er hardtails". I like the geometry, weight and price. Furthermore Dashine has a few more nice parts which I'll buy. Although all their parts on Alibaba seem to be shipped for free.
Anyway it's going to be a race bike, mainly. So no plus version.

Good looking build. I also like the decals.
I'm glad everything went out well for you in the end. Mistakes can happen on the sellers side. Therefore it's good to hear that there are more companies with descend customer service. Still it is a bit weird that despite your email conversation beforehand your package came without fork  ::) .

Looking forward to read more about your bike.

I'll be also building a 29er with green decals - hopefully within the next two months. Then I'll post my build as well.

Hi Brett,
nice build! You were really quick in the end! And I'm beginning to like this frame. It definitely looks great, the weight is awesome for the price and the 70° HTA is what I would prefer over the 062 (which is still tempting).
Please keep us updated about you riding experiences. How does the frame feel? Does it bend easily, does it feel stiff?

Btw. Did you bend the spider of the crank? My heart suffers a little when looking at the picture.

Nicely explained :-) . Thanks for sharing the video! I'm sure when it comes to the actual building of a frame the complexity will be even higher. Also as described in the video, I guess that most frames are not just made of one type of carbon. Therefore speaking of T700, T800, T1000 is rather a marketing issue.
My two OT cents.

We still don't know if carbonbikekits sells the 041 in a different quality. It is just a rumor.
My guesswork: The frames are completely the same type of quality. Were they built with different types of material the weight would differ - which it does not. If the frames were of different material but with the same weight, I'm sure the frame with low quality material would break too easily.

I'm sure Peter is a reliable seller with a good reputation. Nevertheless sellers like to lure potential buyers away from competitors. Therefore I wouldn't take those rumors too literally.

What if you need service and you paid the cheaper price? Exactly, it's not cheaper anymore ...
I completely agree with you! That's the trade-off.

There are difference on the frame material, maybe the price 508 USD/piece is for B level, not sure about that.

@Peter, this is just guesswork and therefore unfair to put a bad reputation on a competitor. I would rather say they come from the same factory - same quality.

Just because the price of the frame is $42 cheaper, doesn't mean the final price with shipping, paypal fees, and any other extras will be cheaper.  Peter throws in a seat clamp, and the Neco headset is reasonably priced.  Not to mention, the extra customer service and confidence that Peter will keep you updated on the status of you order is worth the difference.

I did agree on the probably better service. But the overall prices are less. I've compared. It just depends what you prefer - cheaper price or better service.
