I find that ordering from R2-bike for schwalbe tires is cheaper even when shipping to the US than buying locally.  Also Merlin Cycles has good prices but their stock is very limited.  I have the Ralph ray combo and it is by far my favorite.  The cross king and race king are close seconds. I just with they made them in the 2.4 casing size.

Yes frame is ok but I am no expert on this subject. Build complete for my configuration is 9kg.
The first frame I ordered came in damaged so I contacted Airwolf and send them photos. They directly send me a new frame so I was happy with that :)

Only problem I have is that the B-gap is almost 1cm so changing gear is slow, but I think that is the fault of a to short chain lenght. I did exactly as shimano says in the manual 5+chainlink. So I going to extend the chain and see what happens.

where did you get the fork?  is there another link for that frame that has the fork or did you just request it from the frame builder?  i am looking at the link that is posted and it is frame only.

It's childs play on 15 year old reba dual airs. The two I bought are about 120mm, but have a spacer to reduce it to 100mm. I 3d printer another spacer to shrink them to 80mm forks. Took $2 and 1 hour.

no way,  so you 3d printed a shorter spacer?  or is it a longer spacer?  would you be willing to make another and how much would you charge?  i was thinking it needed a whole new airshaft like the 29er rebas require.  could i

I wish there was some descent budget 24” fork with 50-60mm travel to lower the from some and reduce the stand over. Almost tempted to try some of the cheap Chinese options, bucklos/bolany

agreed.  i have been looking for an option to make the 100mm reba i have and 80mm fork but no luck.  it even has a different air shaft than the normal one.  i pulled it apart and checked.

I think it is like 28". My daughter needed 29" and it was able to do it.  The bigger issue is the frame stand over is about that so she does not have much room.  But she can ride it around this fall and in the spring we can get after it off road.

I have added gold stem spacers and the gold wolf tooth lock on grips.  also an Uno stem with ti bolts of course.   my daughter loves it.  have not had it off road yet but the 24" wheels are so much faster than her 20" wheels.  much better of bumps and sticks.

I went with the Deore M6100 shifter and derailleur and then an 11-36 cassette and the Gold 140mm cranks.

that frame looks great.  like the paint with bare carbon as well.

Finally built.  super happy with the outcome.  waiting for a few things to finalize it like her actual stem and grips.  just borrowing from other bikes for the moment.  total build as pictured with chunky pedals is 19.2 lbs.

If you don't mind sharing. What did you pay for the frame?
And please update on the progress! Would love to see this one being build up!

i was quoted $550 for the frame and headset, axle and seat color.  shipping to the US was 170 i think.

I have the light carbon 947 with Suntour suspension and Shimano XT brakes and drive train.  I am at 30lbs with Bird wheels and about 31lbs with some Ex511 and steel spokes.

Not including the bird wheels and just the EX511's I have about 2500-2700 into the build.

Finally have most of the parts in for my daughters 24" build.  I am using the BXT hardtail 24 model. I requested it to be a raw unpainted frame and they were able to accommodate that. Very happy as it came stripped and sanded ready to paint.  Wheels are built, went with Stans Crest 24" as they were the lightest option I could find. Paired to novatec 411/412 hub set and Pilar 1420 spoke, the wheels came in at sub 1200g. Very happy with that.  For the fork I went with a 26" Reba.  Found a new old stock one at a good price. Weight was 1700g with an uncut steerer.  Only it has no damper adjustment. We will see how that works out. I went with the usual elita seat post, toseek bars and uno stem.  Shimano deore drivetrain and brakes will finish it off. Based on my maths I am looking at a bit over 19lbs.

I think is kind of ridiculous that the customer has to add loctite but I guess after 6-7 frames that I have build I just do that right after I cut the foam off.  I did miss the inside bolts on the linkage and had them loosen up on my ride.  I always bring a multi tool on the first few rides as I know things will come loose.  Another thing is to line the pilots and bushings. They are always dry from the factory.

So I heard back from light carbon on this issue. They are going to replace the frame with the new version or updated version under warranty.  I was given a time frame of middle of October.  I was told they are doing additional testing on the frame and a stronger rear swing arm will be made.  One cool feature is the new version of the frame will have down tube storage under the water bottle mounts.

Not a great situation to be in but I can't really ask for a better resolution from Light Carbon. As it stands I am very happy with the process and excited to see the new frame.  I will post an update when I have more info

finally got this bike out on the trails.   it is a beast!!  the coil shock was amazing in the choppy bumps and rock gardens.  I was able to just plow through things and go where I wanted.  it is a long bike but felt very stable at high speeds.  super happy.

Is there any significant differences between the 980 and the 918?
Is the 980 a XC and the 918 a down country?
The 918 has a lighter listed weight.

Anyone built one of these yet?
Is this sort of a Epic WC style frame and the 918 is an Epic Evo style frame?

I don't think there is a huge difference other that travel and the visual differences in frame layout.  At the end of the day they are both short travel, likely very efficient bikes.  I have the 918 and am very happy with it.  I will likely go with a 980 as I prefer to have less travel than the 110mm of the 918.  It also looks like the 980 will hold 2 big bottles better than the 918. I can only fit a 500ml bottle on the seat tube in my large frame.  Hoping I can get a 750ml on the 980
