No, I don't. It came as a complete set, but here is the link I used for the purchase.  Maybe if you look at the bottom where it has "more items from this seller" you might find something.

FYI - I bought some DEKAS rings and they worked great.  Had good luck with SNAIL too.

29er / Moving to Acworth GA Dec 28th 2017 - Right by Allatoona Creek
« on: December 14, 2017, 08:27:35 AM »
Hey Guys,

So we got a signed acceptance on an offer for a house in Acworth GA.  I will be moving there on Dec 28th 2017.  The house is in Camden Pointe and there is an private access trail which accesses Mason's Bluff trail in the Allatoona Creek park.  Seriously.... 100 yards away and no more having to load up a car and drive 45 minutes or more just to get to a trail system.

Anyway,  I didn't know if any of you on here live in or near the area, but if so, please send me a private message if you want to hit some trails, talk Chinese carbon and what not...

I've run Specialized Ground Control 2.35 and currently running Racing Ralph 2.35 on the CS MB01, so it's safe you can fit a 2.35 in the frame.

I have the MB01 and very happy with it.  Used it in a few races and have over 3000 trail miles on it to date. Having BMX history and experience, I wanted an XC bike that was extremely nimble and agile.  This bike has a superb riding experience for that.  Easy to do wheelies, stoppies, track stands, etc.  My build is 20.3 lbs with GX drive train, Hope X2 Brakes, and Fox 32 SC Factory fork.  XX1 would put it sub-20.

« on: December 14, 2017, 08:08:31 AM »
Yes. I have built 2 MB01 bikes.  I built one for myself and a friend liked it so much we built one for him as well.

I built mine up with SRAM GX, Hope Brakes, Wheels from Peter, and a few other goodies.  My friend's has Sram OX1 and Hope brakes.  We both have the Fox 32SC Factory fork.  He has Easton wheels.

I have about 3000 miles on the bike and have tortured it pretty hard.  It's been to some intense trails like Raccoon Mountain, Allatoona Creek, etc.  I ride it regularly at The Quarry which is more suited for full suspension.  I've been very happy with the frame and it handles very well.  Dropping the bar on the inside in a corner will will get you through a turn quick.  I can out corner most of my riding buddies which is good because most of them have more endurance than I do.

Let me know if you have any questions about the bike.  I know the bike very well and can give you details.

Component Deals & Selection / Re: Tubeless-Ready vs regular rims.
« on: December 14, 2017, 12:10:23 AM »
The tolerances on a tubeless ready rim will be much closer. In other words, it will be harder to put the tire on and off the rim.

However you can successfully convert a non-tubeless rim to tubeless fairly easy. I've done it several times.  I used Gorilla Tape and went around the inside of the rim 4 times. this built up the shoulder where the bead sits high enough to make a tight fit between bead and rim shoulder.

I also did the same for my son's 20" fatbike.  And the tires are wire bead and not tubeless rated.  I used Orange Seal for the sealant in his. Worked like a charm.

Stay away from anything marked ASIACOM.  The bars and seatpost are not up to standard.  I broke a seatpost and found a crack in my bar after just a few rides.

However I have been running Tideace bar and seatpost for about 7 months and all is good. This includes my month stay in Georgia where I was riding some pretty rough stuff.

DEKAS Ultra Light floating brake rotors are nice too.  Good fade/modulation and they are about 80g.

SNAIL Floating rotors are a bit heavier, but they have more contact surface and require less input for the same braking power. These would be great for trials or downhill riders, but for XC, I found them a little over the top and too much stopping power.

I am running Hope X2 single piston brakes just for reference.

Component Deals & Selection / Re: help!!! XT spd cleats

The popping is likely some contamination in the bearing, say sand, metal shaving, etc.  Most bike shops should have the bearings for sale separately.  When in doubt, throw it out!  Just replace the bearing and you should be good.

can you post a picture with your hub with a velcro strap on it?

Here you go... Fuzzy side in.  My hubs are always shiny, even when the rest of the bike is covered in dirt. :-)

So my buddy gave me his old Scott Scale. It's a heavy beast that had a stripped out crank arm.  Being it's old, non-tapered steerer, 9mm QR dropouts, and a rusty Suntour XC fork, I didn't want to sink any money into it, just minimal to get it working so my wife could tool around on it.

In the process of crank searching, I decided to order one of those sets off AliExpress that include the bottom bracket. I think I paid just over $40 for it.

Anyway, I have to admit the crank and BB are pretty darn solid. I installed it and took the bike over to the boat dock and did some crazy drops on it and other stuff... Basically tortured it the best I could, but since it has flat pedals, I think I tortured my shins more than the bike, Haha!

Here are a few pics of the crank close up and installed.  If you are looking for a cheap crank or backup for BSA, it's definitely worth the price.

Fat Bikes / 2.8" Tire on an 80mm rim
« on: December 13, 2017, 11:35:02 PM »
So my son has this little Tykes Bikes 20" aluminum fat bike.  The stock tires were ridiculously heavy and stiff to the point he could ride it with almost no pressure... I dub named them the 'Run-Flats'.

So searching for tire options, most are not available in 20" therefore pickin's are slim.  On a whim, I decided to order a couple of specialized tires that are 2.8" and see what would happen.  I have a friend running a 3.0 on a 60mm, so I thought I'd give it a shot....

Well, it surpassed our expectations!  Aside from the benefits of a better made tire, they are about 680g wire bead which is way better than the 3.3lbs monsters that were on there.  also the tire seems to actually flex and track nicely for him over rocky and loose terrain, unlike the run-flats that would transfer most of the bumps up through the bike.

So, if any of you thought about running a smaller plus size tire on your fatty rims, it can be done.  I would imagine the benefits he sees would transfer over to the larger bikes.

Here are some pics of the build:

Where did you source the frame for this build?  I'm moving to North Georgia in the next few months and I'm thinking of building an enduro/AM bike for up there.  This is the first bike of this kind from Chinese builders I have seen that truly interests me.

29er / Re: 29er "Trail" travel suspension (120 - 130mm) frames

Oh, it's a 150mm?  I didn't see that.  Well, I guess that rules that one out by at least 20mm.

29er / 29er "Trail" travel suspension (120 - 130mm) frames
« on: September 24, 2017, 08:53:18 PM »
Hey Guys,

So I got some answers on the 821 and thanks for that.  However, between the potential pivot issue and it being a 110 rear with 120 front travel, I am thinking I might want a little more of a 'Trail' setup.  Does anyone know anything about this bike (CFM356)?
http://www.carbonda.com/mountain/full-suspension/cfm356.html

Travel is not listed, but it does have the dual pivot lower, so I am assuming at least a 130mm.  Any data available?

Almost forgot Patrick,  Here are a couple of vids from Allatoona.  They are short edited clips, but I am sure you will recognize the features in Turtleback.  Sorry about the noise.  I forgot to shim my GoPro in the case and it rattled around like hell inside.

Turtle Back Tid-bits...

Knuckle Sandwich (I'll do it faster next time. This was my first time down it unseen).
