If possible, please contact me via email.

Thanks a lot.
Peter

Peter, I've tried to email and message but no response, are you still around with any wheels available?

Let us know how they go.

I bought these ZNIINO  bars but I found the shifters slipped even with carbon paste, needing to tighten them to a point where I was sure it would damage the carbon bars.... also, for my preference the bars weren't thick enough, but that's personal preference I guess.

For anyone in Sydney, Australia my Zniino bars are free to a good home.

Component Deals & Selection / Re: Onirii carbon cranks

Yeah they look, spin and feel great when pedaling.....

Thanks for the info, strangely my Rival 1 crankset is a 24mm spindle, so these should fit perfectly but I will dble check.  My Rival 1 crank with chainset is 920g, so this'd be a big weight saving. AUD $200 to save 500g seems like a worthy investment.

Interesting on the Shimano crank arm, I just sold a DA stages PM and moved to speedplay PM....  Almost a shame I can't get this raceworks crank with a PM built in..... but then I'd need a bigger spending budget.

Thanks again.

I was initially looking at those cranks, but opted for the Racework Carbon crankset ........

Any feedback on the Racework crankset? Looks like a budget way to drop almost 500g off my bike

I initially went with a flared carbon bar from Aliexpress.  Challenge was trying to get the shifters not to slip without crushing the carbon bars.  Ended up changing them for Ritchey Beacon allow flared bars.  Much easier to tighten shifters and have no worry about the materials..... plus the weight and cost saving wasn't so significant.

What do you make of this https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005094735886.html

Amazing how quickly something gets copied, regardless of the quality of the copy.

Cyclocross Frames, Wheels & Components / Re: Gravel Build help, please
« on: October 10, 2022, 01:34:08 PM »
Thanks for the input... annoying that I'm doing this just before the Sensah and Ltwoo hydraulic groupsets are released. The option of the cable actuated hydraulic Juin Teck GT-F's is an interesting option (external cables could be neater than external hoses), but there is a price to pay for the GT-F model.

I will also look out for discounted or second hand Sram groupsets, but my budget is very very tight after buying the wheels, frame and powrlink pedals.  I'm trying to build a light titanium gravel bike for USD $2,500. I'm already at $1,600 for the frame and wheels.

Cyclocross Frames, Wheels & Components / Gravel Build help, please
« on: October 10, 2022, 12:43:39 AM »
Hey, so I have started my Gravel build, or started buying parts.  I plan the following, with a number of questions:

  • Waltly Ti frame - I'm going with their standard 2022 gravel frame. My main decision now is cabling:
    • all external cables - easy maintenance
    • all internal cables
    • external gear cables with internal brake hoses

  • Lun Grapid 650b wheels with 2.1 Btway tires - Already purchased
  • 1x drive train, but here is the issue. I would like mechanical gears with hydraulic brakes, however, looking at Sensah and Ltwoo they don't have hydraulics yet.
I like the idea of the Sensah shifting, not too sure about the Ltwoo thumb shifting - personal preference, I'm coming from Shimano
          Looking at some options:
    • Go with cable actuated hydraulic brakes, eg. Juin GT-F because Sensah and Ltwoo don't offer hydraulic.
    • I see Sensah SRX Pro 1x12 groupset on Aliexpress but didn't know Sensah had a 12 speed gravel groupset - anyone tried this or can vouch for it?
    • I see Ltwoo have Gravel groupsets coming in 12 speed with hydraulic.....someone said ETA of September but I don't see anything
    • Sensah I've seen mention hydraulic but by end 2022 - I don't want to wait 3 months

I'm interested in people thoughts about the 'external' v 'internal', and which groupset and brakes to go for.  1x12 would be my preferred option

Component Deals & Selection / Re: Short Cranks 155/160 Supplier

I have the 24mm spindle version.

There weren't any instructions in the box. I fitted the cranks and tightened the locking bolt to 20nm.  When tightened the cranks don't seem to spin that freely., They spin OK but just less so as I tighten the locking bolt. If I don't tighten the locking bolt this way then the cranks work loose.

I'm assuming everything is okay,  I just feel I've missed something due to how they don't spin super freely when tightened.

Otherwise great cranks, useful to be able to test different cranks lengths.

I have a set of the Zele-A12X-OS which are great value if you want to try shorter cranks. ......

I got this crank, great how you can change to try different lengths.

One question/problem.  My Zele crank keeps coming loose. The fixing bolt that goes in to the non-drive side keep coming loose.  There was a washer in the bag with the fixing bolt but this is too small to go ver the fixing bolt.  I'm confused to where the washer goes and how tight to fix the fixing bolt.....I've only ever fit Shimano or square taper cranks.

Component Deals & Selection / Re: RideNow TPU
« on: September 01, 2022, 06:45:13 PM »
I've had them in my front wheel for a few weeks, carbon rim brake setup, last week did 4 x 4km descents without any issue or concern. We have one very steep descent nearby that leaves wheels very hot, may try that in the future if I feel brave.

I haven't had any issues of any kind, I have the 65mm and 85mm valve versions of the Ridenow. I know have 5 tubes, which gives me 3 spares. I love how small they are in my saddle bag - so much so I've moved from a saddle back to a pocket pouch with tube, pump and multitool.

I normally ride latex and the TPU feels very similar in regards ride quality, just lighter and no need to keep pumping tires.

those look good! how much did they cost you?

Thanks, I'll take a look at these - weight isn't an issue as they'll be on an indoor trainer bike.

I also contacted Xcadey who do 160mm power cranks.  They said that they are going to sell non-power cranks and their website will be updated soon, so lets hope they also do short cranks.

StiffWeenies - I'll also check those out and contact more suppliers. Thanks!

I'm looking for 155/160mm cranks to try on my road bike.

Any Chinese brands doing these?  I see lots of 165mm, but no smaller on Alibaba and Aliexpress.

Peak Torque has also posted his review on youtube.

Again, doesn't say too much that others haven't. Wheels seem sound.  If you're on the fence between Winspace and Elite then there doesn't seem to be much difference, other than Winspace have had better social media publicity for longer. Elite seem to have been making wheels just as long, but less social media marketing until how (from what I see), although there is evidence in the hub revisions that Elite may still be ironing out minor wrinkles with this new Drive model.

Hambini has kinda reviewed the wheels, depending on how you view Hambini's opinion it's somewhat interesting.  Unfortunately, when comparing against Winspace, he is comparing different depths, so you can't tell if the wheel design or wheel depth drives the differences.

Good news is that the quality seems to be on a par with the other similar brands.
