29er / Re: Does anyone know the headset specs for a Tantan FM199?

How difficult can it be.

https://www.google.com/search?q=fm-199+frame+headset

First result => headset: top 1-1/8", down 1-1/2"

Search on AliExpress and .... YEAH!

You're welcome.

Component Deals & Selection / Re: Chinese Bearing ...anyworth ?
« on: March 03, 2021, 10:31:44 AM »
Don't worry, buy the chinese bearings. And buy some to have on stock.
Maybe the quality is less than the A-brands, but hey, replace them worn out. Maybe you have to do it a little bit earlier than with A-brands, but look at the price.

Same for brake pads. Keep them in stock. it's worth it.

29er / Re: Help me find a hardtail frame with QR skewers?
« on: October 07, 2020, 02:37:44 AM »
Hi Axis,

when you buy a new from from China, you'll get most of the time a set of QR dropouts and a set of through-axle dropout with a frame. And you can always ask the vendor.
For example, someone mentioned Airwolf yesterday: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32783551474.html?spm=2114.12010612.8148356.47.7ce6129atDPrtP

It comes with QR-dropout, through-axle-dropout, BB, etc.

And on AliExpress you can find a lot of dropper seatposts. I'm using one for two years now and for me it's good enough.

I see your new here. Please read this forum and you find a lot of builds here. Good luck.

Interesting. Do you have a link to the AE store of this seller?

Oh and the alignment tool isn't that expensive. It saves you a lot of frustrations.

Even you have a straight hanger, it doesn't mean it is aligned for your frame. A different thickness in the paint job under the hanger can cause issues. Or the place where the hanger is mounted isn't complete flat or straight.

When I bought a frame, I always order a spare hanger, so I don't have to wait when I order a new one in case it breaks.
After I build up the bike and aligned the hanger, first thing I do is replacing the hanger with the spare one and align the hanger again. Now I have two straight (aligned) hangers. The spare one is laying around in my car. And I don't have to use the align tool when I need the spare hanger, because it's already prepared. Just a tip.

But 9 out 10 you have to align the hanger when building up the bike. Keep that in mind.

29er / Re: TanTan FM08 cracked during shipping
« on: December 26, 2019, 03:15:21 AM »
To bad you received your new frame like this way.
I think it's only paint crack. But to be sure you have to sand down the paint and look to the carbon itself. Maybe you can look inside with a endoscope at the place of impact and see if the frame is damaged.

But please contact TanTan first for advise. And inform them you created a topic on this forum. They don't want bad publicity. And please post the result here.
