29er / Re: XDB Shipping
« on: March 22, 2019, 06:12:26 AM »
I can confirm this for the Netherlands. This is the way to avoid taxes.
But, taxes for a carbon frame is 60€, shipment by XDB is 90$ (80€). So, for this item it isn't cheaper (for me).

Component Deals & Selection / Re: Best bottle cage for MTB
« on: January 14, 2019, 06:46:42 AM »
I use these bottle cages on all the bikes here at home. It's durable, affordable, light weight and (very important) it holds your bottle in very steep rocky descents.
The best and cheapest one you could find on the internet.

Both, the wheels and seat post, have cracks?  Unbelievable!!! Sounds like you had a crash, but don't want to tell us.

Why not sending them back? Afraid Peter find out what happened with the items?

What if it happened with A-brand? And they find out you had a crash? No warranty.

So, what's really the point to send them back? The shipping costs?

Do you know the margins are very small?
Do you know Peter (or other Chinese vendors) have to pay taxes when they getting Items back?
For Peter I can tell you he want them back to see if it's a warranty issue. And how they can improve the quality.

I'm riding on MTB frame of Peter for more than 3 years now. Flawless
I've got wheels from Peter. The rims are flawless. The novatec hub weren't the best (ranchet ring broke), now the wheelset has DT350s hubs. Still enjoying my Chinese product. Especially for the price.

Why don't you take your RD hanger to the hardware store and ask them to find the right screws?

The rear axle is coming loose every now and than. Really need to tighten the small screw (hex), which is annoying if you ever get a flat. Does anybody know a better solution/better axle?
Not a better solution, but a solution. Take a old inner tube. Cut it in a circle, with the diameter of the axle nut. Cut a small hole in the circle, a little bit smaller than the axle diameter. And put this piece between the frame and nut. It solves your problem. It did for me.

To be sure, the piece of inner tube sits directly between nut and frame and gets 'squashed' when tightening? Can you than go without the small screw? Or do you still need it?

What axle do you have? Any specific one that work really well?
Yes, that's correct. No need for the small screw. I'm using a DT Swiss axle with nut. But the axle doesn't matter.

Without the piece of inner tube, the nut getting loose because of the vibrations. Using a piece of inner tube, the nut won't spin that easy anymore. That's why this solution will works. And tighten the axle/nut more isn't the solution.

Anyone bought anything from xmcarbonspeed.com in 2018?
Yes, I did. Bought 4 rims. without a problem and quick shipment.

As you mention, he's super-responsive. I think there's a good reason why he's not responding as quick as usual.
I just asked him to take a look at this topic. He'll respond for sure. Please be patient.

29er / Re: Internal routed dropper post on 057?
« on: July 06, 2018, 04:23:27 AM »
I don't know if it's possible, because sometimes the bottom bracket is a closed system. In my CS265SL it's an open system and I think I could run the cables through the BB. But I'm not sure if it will fit when de BB is installed.
And running it through the top tube ? I don't think it will fit.

Before buying a dropper post, try to fit a cable through you BB. When it fits, you can buy a dropper post for internal cable routing, otherwise external cable routing.

Yes, you're right, it doesn't look nice. But Peter is also right. I doesn't affect the frame, how silly it sounds.

Once, I had a branch in my spokes, it broke some spokes and also my rear derailleur. My RD hits very hard my frame and my frame was damaged, something you have.
I didn't repair it, because it looks cosmetic and you only sees it when you know it.
And this is already 1,5 years ago and the frame is still holding.

So, from Peters perspective, it's just cosmetic and no frame failure. You're right, a A-brand like Specialized will replace the frame immediately. But that's why a A-brand frame cost five times a Chinese frame.

From you perspective, I understand it completely, you're paying a lot for a Chinese frame (it's a lot cheaper than an A-brand, but still not free), and you bought from Peter because his good reputation he has and the good service he gives.

When Peter honor the warranty, you have to send the frame back (and pay the shipments costs) and Peter will replace the frame (or will repair the frame) and send it back to you. But don't be surprised you have pay his shipments costs also. And maybe you're getting custom taxes (again).

This little failure is in the price. I would let it be like this. It's costs you a lot of effort and money to get it replaced. It's easier to get it repaired or just ignore it. It at the bottom side of you're frame and you will never see it and you will never feel it.

But, yes you're right, it shouldn't be there in the first place. And yes, Peter is also right, it doesn't affect the riding quality.
Make an agreement with Peter you will leave it this way, but when it tears down more, he will replace the frame and take care of his shipment costs.
The margins on the frame is not much for him.

I hope you can come to an agreement you both like. Good luck.

For wheels you can also go to xmcarbonspeed.cn .

I dealed with Peter from xmcarbonspeed.cn and I got my frame and wheels within a week (5 days for the frame) after placing the order. But don't forget the shipment costs. It's about 95 USD for only the frame and aagain for the wheelset. And maybe you gets customs tax. For me it was about 60 EUR for the frame and the same for the wheelset.
