Thanx. It's not for race, but just for fun (tours). And I want to know everything about the bike, so, the best way to learn it, is to build it by my own :)

29er / IP-256SL by MTB2223

Hi All,

it's time to share my experience of building a mtb with as basis a IP-256SL. I try to keep this topic up to date.

I ordered my frame in April at Peter from XMIPlay. Because of production problems, the frame had a (big) delay. I didn't mind, because I'm not in a hurry.
The frame arrived last Friday in the Netherlands and is now waiting for customs inspection.  >:(

I was looking for a white fork with a crownloc, but couldn't find one. I don't want a push/poploc system, so that would a no-go. So, I'm going for a black one.

Let start with my buildlist. All the weights are found on the internet. I'll weight them, when I've got all the parts.
Buildlist:

History (date format: dd/mm/yyyy):
07/07/2014: Initial start of this topic
14/07/2014: Updated my buildlist with some actual weights.

Component Deals & Selection / Re: Plasti Dip
« on: July 07, 2014, 12:06:39 AM »
I want to know how it holds (on UD matte) and if it's easy to remove. I know it will on a glossy frame, but I think on a UD matte frame it will be a little different?

Does someone has experience with plasti dip on his/her frame? And especially on a matte frame.

I want to put a design on my UD matte frame when it arrives. And Plasti Dip looks very nice.

Are Noobs allowed to create a new thread ? Was thinking of doing the usual pics, thoughts, problems etc for my build.
Of course!!! There aren't dumb questions. Please, don't hesitate to ask.
The more 'Noobs' ask, the more information will come on this forum. So, we need your questions, pictures and the things you did wrong or you didn't wrong.

After The Ride / Re: Before the ride...
« on: July 06, 2014, 01:50:24 PM »
"Before the ride" I'm always in a hurry. So, I tried to do all the maintenance directly or the day after the ride, which is:
- clean up de bike, especially the chain, FD and RD.
- after cleanup the chain and before the chain lube, I'll dry the chain with an old towel.
- lube the chain
- check the brake pads and replace them when needed.

On monthly basis:
- degrease chain completely. Lube chain again.
- check chain wear.
- replace chain with second chain.
- check for play in wheels, bb and headset.

On half year basis:
- bearing maintenance, hubs, bb and headset.

When something pops up during a ride, I spend more time during the week for this extra maintenance.

Mine is painted, so I have to say Paint!  I really like UD matte as well.
This was my second choice. When I saw this color, I doubted to change my order and painted my IP-256 this way.

For my IP-256 I  chose UD matte. Because I like the stealth idea and it good to combine with red accents.
But if I had to choose the practical way, I chose a glossy finish or a custom paint. that's better to clean.

I added the custom paint option to your poll.

Hmmm, okay. In that case. If you look to the bracket, you see that the bracket have some holes. If you don't use a FD, it is very easy than. But I don't know if there's enough space when the BB is installed.

Is the cable long enough to go through the down tube and the seat tube all that way ?
