29er / Re: Racing experience on chiner.
« on: March 10, 2017, 10:45:59 PM »
I raced 057 and 036, won several races on them even a state championship. Now racing is a broad term. I won cat 3 races, those are low grade races. I'm racing cat 2 now and haven't won any race yet, I training to get there.
Yes the bike can take a beating. But like anything it can break.

29er / Re: IP-036 29er Full Suspension Carbon Frame Build
« on: March 10, 2017, 10:43:32 PM »
It is interesting the top racers are not using + wheels and bikes( so far ).
A same kind of resistance happens in road bikes with disc brakes. Cycling has a very conservative crowd.

Something strange about the CS-M04, is that it is only available for the US and Canada.

What type of race would use + bikes ? They are slow for XC, slow for Enduro and Slow for downhill. + is not a racing bike, it's just a in between fat and regular.

29er / Re: Full Suspension WCB-M-108 / LCFS902 / CS-821 Experience?
« on: March 08, 2017, 09:32:39 AM »
Between 165x40 and 165x38 you lose 5mm of rear travel.
This new frame is really enduroed compared to the LCFS902. Head angle is 67° with 100mm fork and wheel base is huge, these are extreme values for XCO and surely a frame meant to be ridden very aggressively, not for casual biker...

It's showing 100mm travel, while wheelbase is 2-3cm longer than the 902. Its funny that they copy other brands while mixing enduro/xc designs. The worst part is the brake cable routing, it does not makes sense for me.

If they are going to ignore patents, why don't they just copy everything.

29er / Re: Bearing Spacing?

Guys, do you have specs on the washers you've added ? My IP036 has lots of aluminum washers and I was thinking about replacing with DELRIM or TEFLON/PTFE washers.

Please share if you have any info.

Cyclocross Frames, Wheels & Components / Belt Driven Carbon
« on: September 19, 2015, 11:22:28 AM »
Has anyone seem any of those ? I've gone through the dark corners of the web and could not find anyone making it.

I'm looking to build a belted cyclocross bike, most likely will use Nuvinci N360 or N380 or perhaps Alfine 8 or Alfine 11. Not sure yet, but sure I want a belt so after wet rides I can hose it off and be done with it.

29er / IP-036 Shock Tune
« on: September 05, 2015, 01:51:52 PM »
I remember some folks fiddling with the shock tune and changing to a medium or hard mode.
Does anyone remember or have posted any results ? I've been going over the threads but could not find much conclusion on this science.

I've a Monarch XX 165x38 and it's working well, however it often get close to bottom, I'm 182lbs and running about 140psi. It also gets hot while riding technical trails but I think that's normal.

If anyone can report on improvements on tuning changes, it would be much appreciated.

I won't sell you mine, I will build a new one for whoever wants it.
The bars are the carbonality 700mm ones, XMI play only has the 600mm ones which works okay for some riders.

29er / Re: Would you pay someone to build a Chiner for you?
« on: June 22, 2014, 08:11:10 PM »
I've spent well over $400 USD on proper tools but I built 5 so far.
Different types of grease, anti-seize, brake fluid for shimano, hydraulic fluid for RockShocks lockout.
$500 for a build is fair. At the end an experienced builder will help you avoid issues with things that are not placed properly.
You miss a bearing gasket and you ended up replacing a bearing earlier. You leave your chain to long and it will be jumping out of the chain-ring.

Now if you want to race I would recommend you do your own build. This way you will know every little detail of your bike. Specially for race day when you need to identify and fix something fast.
