Guesstimated weight based on most published numbers should have it in the 18.6lb or 8.45kg range.  Not quite half the weight of my current bike, which is 32, but a full suspension long travel 29er.

That's with a rigid fork, I think sub 19 will still be possible if I eventually add a suspension fork.

Im going full rigid to start, but I was looking at Fox Float.  Its not as light, but by all reports its a better and stronger fork.

Now if you have $2Gs you can go with the new Rock Shox inverted thing.  Saw one at a race recently, its SEXY!!!!  But oh so damn expensive.

Thanks Sussed, I'll keep that in mind.   No I'm just waiting for stuff from Chain Reaction and my frame/wheels, etc to ship.

Not worried about timing, but I'm getting antsy now that everything is ordered and I'm waiting.

Have some cool ideas for paint/pinstriping once it arrives.

Let the Pictures begin.  Today was like Christmas.

What all did I get????

And now with some weights.

Rocket Ron, Box says 520, actual is 532

Thunder Burt Snake Skin, Box says 515, actual is 551 (someone was dyslexic)

XX1 Crankset

XX1 Spyder

Wolf Tech One piece, only 30grams heavier than the spyder alone, so there must be some weight savings in there.  Not to mention Money Savings!

Looks good mounted on the crank

XX1 Rear Mech with the shipping stop in place

The giant sexy cassette

Pictures and weights might start tonight!!!  Just checked tracking and my groupset, brakes, front ring are all on trucks to be delivered today!!

Just hope I'm around when FedEx shows as it needs a signature.

If only the brake brackets arrived today too, then I could through one set of XT's on my  Santa Cruz before tomorrows ride.

Similar to cars, a wider rim will give a wider footprint to a point until the rim is wider than the tire.  You also get more air volume for the same pressures.  American Classic has done some testing and published some articles.   In the old days I ran staggered tires, 2or 2.1 up front and 1.9 in the back, so running stagger and different tires on each end is not uncommon, but since I'm going full rigid I'm upping the size and air volume to have little rolling resistance while adding some compliance.

Shipping notices for parts came in.

Front Chainring coming from Modern Bike in Des Moines via USPS, no ETA yet.
Groupset and 2 sets of XT Brakes coming from PlanetCyclery in Henderson, CO via FedEx Ground, picked up but no ETA.
Rotors and brake brackets coming from Chain Reaction in UK, coming via ???, "Dispatched" yesterday, ETA ??

Waiting for frame, etc tracking, Peter said it should ship before Monday/Tuesday of next week.

The second set of XT brakes is to replace my crappy Elixer 5's on my Santa Cruz.

It's been a long time since I used Gripshift, but with no lockouts or dropper posts, I figured I'll make it a super clean cockpit with just brake levers.  I can always switch to triggers later if I hate it.

Update from Peter, everything should ship by Monday or Tuesday of next week!

Thanks to a very good bonus check that arrived last Friday I have ordered most all of the parts for my IP-057 build.

My goal/purpose for this bike is to build a fast race bike.  I recently started doing some XC type racing, using my very heavy 32lb (14.5kg) Santa Cruz Tallboy LT.  While I love how this rides, its heavy and slow and loses a lot on climbs.  Oh and I'm still not in great shape, but working on that.

I decided to start out with a full rigid because where most of the races are happening the trails are fairly well groomed and while singletrack in someplaces are still fire road smooth.

After lots of searching and reading on this site, MTBR and other places I've decided to go with an IP-057 from Peter.

I ordered up quite a bit of parts from Peter.  $1600 worth, but I ordered a few extra things (both Shimano and Sram cassette body, extra axles, etc).  The Frame is going to be a 19" in 3K Gloss BSA.  The plan is to bring it to Pinstriper Lyle Fisk to have him work some magic.  One of his trademark techniques is woodgrain painting.  I think I'm going to have him do the top of the top tube in a wood grain finish, then other traditional pinstriping stuff.

IP-057  BSA  19” size  3K GLOSS finish for 142x12  -  400 USD/piece
Headset  - 15 USD/piece
FK-052 Fork, 3K Gloss  -  125 USD/piece
Wheels 29 using your 35mm hookless rim using the Novatec  D881/882 Hubs for 10S, 15mm front and 142/12  (gloss 3k finish)  32 Hole. -  590 USD/pair
Spare dropout 142*12 right part for frame - 15 USD/piece
Spare rear derailleur hanger for 135 QR for frame - 20 USD/ set including left and right parts
2 pcs * IP-B05 Handlebar in widest available 700mm, also gloss 3K finish  -  38 USD/piece x 2 = 76 USD
Seatpost 400mm gloss 3K  IP-SP6   -  45 USD/piece
Fitting front 15mm and rear 12mm thru axles - 35 USD/pair
**Two bottle cages BC5  3k matte  -  12 USD/piece x 2 = 24 USD  (originally listed as BC6 3K Gloss)
100x9/ 135x10 QR convertion kit for ABOVE HUBS  -  35 USD/ set
Seat post clamp - one piece for free
**Set of Stem spacer (free)
** SRAM Cassette Body

I've also placed orders for the GroupSet, which I decided to go with XX1 1x11 Gripshift.  XT brakes, Hope Red Floating rotors, Wolf Tooth one piece chainring, 2.25" Rocket Ron for the front and 2.1" Thunder Burt for the rear.

About the only things I don't have currently on order are a stem and saddle.  I will most likely be using a Loaded Precision stem, to support the San Diego local business, and probably an Ergon SM3 Pro saddle.

When parts start arriving I'll begin taking pictures with actual weights and see where things end up!

Chain reaction has better pricing on XT than that.  Only bummed they don't have US standard left hand front brakes in stock..

Reconsidering.  Might be an XX1 Gripshift setup.  Ordered both cassette bodies from Peter, better safe than sorry..

Been a busy weekend.  Since final/full payment went to Peter last night I will probably start a new official build thread with specs and pictures once parts start arriving.

I have Shimano on all my bikes dating back to my 92 Bridgestone, the only part that ever did me wrong was some bottom end clipless pedals.   I have no doubt that it will work when delivered..  My original plan was to order groupset in November, but due to a better bonus, I can order the groupset now.

Chainreaction preorder pricing for XTR is similar to xx1.

I am taking a second look at XX1 and Gripshift to make a super clean cockpit.  But XTR would keep all my bikes with familiar controls.

Two ore days till my bonus is supposed to hit, then I can complete my order.  Its way better than expected so I should be able to order the drivetrain, then wait for it to get to vendors for shipment.   Going with new XTR 1x11....

Boss just informed me Bonuses should hit next week and they are better than expected.  So my full payment may happen sooner.  I was planning on next bonus for components, but might be able to order them with this bonus.  Might move completion to late Agust instead of Christmas!!!!
