That's exactly the case with R2, they add german tax by deafaut. When I was shipping to Poland from them the price was different as well.

If carbon rims are not a must then beside Crest (being obvious option) there are more nice and light rims like Ryda Trace XC, BOR XMD 333/366 or DT Swiss offerings.

Sub 20 lbs in xl is absolutely manageable ;) My built ended sub 18.5 lbs with L frame, around 3000 Euro from scratch (you can probably go even lighter and a tad cheaper here and there): http://chinertown.com/index.php/topic,781.msg8546.html#msg8546  , you can also look at frankR build http://chinertown.com/index.php/topic,382.0.html

I just remember that IP256SL is almost like the Scale (very minor differences) but the older one (2014 or 2015)

I see a few ways for you of dropping weight, but they are quite expensive:

- Sid Fork or new Step Cast Fox (the latter from 1360g , probably some tuning would get it even lower)
- Race Face Next SL Crank (or try to hunt for TUNE/ Clavicula for even bigger weight savings)
- Switch cassette to Sram (needs xD driver) - 70g lighter
- lighter wheels: Tune as a budget option, 240s more expensive, Extralite end of the line -> could get xD driver then
- set of R1R brakes would probably be at least 50g lighter than MT4
- you can definitely get lighter seatpost (around 160g or lower) and bars (even sub 100). End of the line is Schmolke, but it costs a kidney.

Seems ok apart from the chainring, SRAM direct mount is different from RF cinch. You can get Eagle compatible chainring for RF (cinch) cranks from AbsoluteBlack or Woolftooth. Not sure about rings made by themselves. EDIT: RF claims their own rings are compatible too: http://www.raceface.com/products/details/dm-narrow-wide-cinch-single-ring

Hey d36,
Sorry for hijacking the thread bu I just recently (3 weeks ago) moved down under and have completely no idea where to look for bargain (apart from Gumtree) and what are dedicated bike forums/groups in here (I'm in QLD).

When  it comes to your build, I would suggest Uno Ultralight stem , it's cheap, light and reliable, you'll find them on ebay. If you can't find xt crank without rings, you can always try too look for x9/x0 (the BB is slightly different, look for the whole package).

Hope this helps

I think Shimano are M12 x 1.5 as well

Depends on the mount (Race Face has several varieties, Shimano mostly sticks 104 BCD but also not always, 1x11 XT is one of the exceptions if I remember correctly). You will get more info about all the possible NW chainrings on the sites of their manufacturers like:

Absolute Black http://absoluteblack.cc/
Garbaruk http://garbaruk.com/

It's hard to directly compare shimano and SRAM groupsets to be honset, I'd say that XT would be somewhere between X01 and X1. Keep in mind that probably the biggest advantage of SRAM is 10-42 cassette. You can take it and mix with shimano derr+shifter and a crankset of choice with narrow wide chainring (I did it in my setup and it works great).

27
I'd still go with 1x11, 34-36T up front together with SRAM 10T cassette will give you all the speed you need, while still having nice and tidy 1x system.

One more thing to keep in mind is that Shimano SPD has 2 types of cleats, one of which allows a certain level of horizontal play : http://www.berklix.org/bike/shimano/cleats/ Nevertheless, for the Ti XPEDO pedals, steel shimano cleats are not recommended. Brass cleats are included and IIRC you can get TI cleats as well.

I'm not affiliated with them in any way, yet I'm very happy that this small company known almost only in Poland will get some wider recognition. Hope you are happy with their stuff ;)

Xpedo XMF08TT are light (215g) shimano-style pedals, people have been happy with them.
